Children are children no matter what part of the world they live in and we have the wonderful privilege of sharing our blessings with children in India and Bangladesh who are not as fortunate as us, our children or our grandchildren. BANGLADESH

& Lorraine Leach Eric

Youth for Christ Team 1973 in Bangladesh

The country of Bangladesh (“Land of the Bengals) is one of the most densely populated countries in the world with an estimated 2019 population of 163.05 million, and its people are predominantly Muslim. It is a hot humid country with heavy monsoon rain which is often overwhelming and causes the destruction of homes and the death of many people, both from flooding and diseases such as cholera. It was to this country in 1973 that Eric and Lorraine Leach travelled as part of a Youth for Christ evangelistic team from Australia and met Rev Smith Adhikary, the Director of the newly formed organisation, Bangladesh Every Home Contact (BEHC). It was the beginning of a very long association between Australia Every Home for Christ and Bangladesh Every Home Contact which continues today.

Daniel Sarker giving his farewell speech Until his death in 2005, Rev Smith Adhikary directed Bangladesh EHC very successfully resulting in, among other achievements, the preaching and distribution of gospel literature, the development of a program to assist the poor through primary schools, a tailoring program for uneducated women and a rickshaw program to assist poverty-stricken rickshaw pullers own their own rickshaw

and increase their income. Rev. Daniel Dipon Sarkar, who has also been a vital part of this work since 1973, became the BEHC Director in 2005. He has continued the ministry for 14 years until his resignation earlier this year after 44 years of serving the Lord as a Pastor and among the poor and unevangelised, taking gospel literature to many tribal men and women in Bangladesh.

Broken Hearts for the Lost Here is a sobering fact. Almost 700,000 people die every day, nearly 30,000 die every hour, and approximately 500 die every minute. That number is increasing every day. Now understand the fact that only 33% of them are Christians. So today, 462 thousand people will die and be separated from God forever. How many hear the gospel is up to thise 33%. For years the church has been living in the sin of silence... the Great Commission has been the “great omission.” Despite the fact that Jesus told believers, five times by imperative commands, to go into all the world to make disciples, fewer than 1 in 10 will ever share their faith with someone who is lost. Even worse, only 1 in 20 has ever led in their entire Christian life more than one person to Christ. How tragic! Believe me, I was no better. That is why today I have a fire for evangelism. I must share the gospel because as Jeremiah 20:9 says, “his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot. I am going to share some of the experiences that I have had in my many years of evangelism. You can learn from my mistakes. You may have better ways yourself, but what I have learned the hard way, you can learn the easy way.

Learning From Mistakes People learn more from their mistakes than their failures so I am offering you my mistake-laden advice free of charge in what was costly to me. I trained several years with an evangelist. I have had years of training sessions and trained multiple churches in methods of effective evangelism. The greatest thing I learned was that the power is in the message and not the messenger. God the Father draws sinners, the Holy Spirit convicts the lost, and Jesus saves them. I am not involved in the saving. God saves, I only bring the message. The power is in the Word of God... in me there is no power. Saving is His responsibility, not mine. It is not their response to my ability but their response to His ability. Even the worse job of witnessing is still better than no witnessing at all. You are still being obedient to Christ’s command.

The Power Is In The Message! So we must take the message to every home - see next page. Article by Jack Wellman

CHURCHES VISITING EVERY HOME

KNOCKING -ON - DOORS THE POWER IS IN THE MESSAGE KNOCKING-ON-DOORS is a big ask and for many people it is beyond anything they have imagined to do themselves; and people are asking for the gospel literature to knock - on - doors because they like the idea, so please let me explain. Every Home for Christ has training for people who want to knock-on-doors and is currently looking at possible ways to encourage people to go to church at a time when people are sadly missing from church and knowing God. All the follow-up of people who are interested to know more will be done by the local churches and the Minister/Pastor and volunteers. Together, we can do something great for others to know Christ and join a church. Every Home for Christ have been distributing gospel literature house-to-house around the world for some 73 years and do not have their own churches, but encourage churches to be formed, in places where there are no fellowship groups or churches already existing.
