s Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the Wittenberg church in Germany, the clanging of his hammer sounded the announcement that something was changing. The Church in 1517 was very different from the Church we know today. Rather than teaching the Bible, Church leaders secured their own power by keeping the Scriptures from the people and teaching their own doctrines instead. But then Luther, under the conviction that the Bible was for everyone, nailed his theses to the church door and set the record straight. This solitary act of bravery was the spark that ignited the Reformation, an historic period of religious power struggle — and incredible revival. The Church leaders of Luther’s day were so against sharing God’s Word with the common people that they even outlawed translating the Bible into common languages. But the reformers’ passion for evangelism was too great to give up.
William Tyndale, for example, smuggled English Bibles into England — and was burned at the stake for it. Other reformers made similarly terrible sacrifices for the Great Commission. And their sacrifices brought the Gospel to thousands of people, changing Western civilization — and the world — forever. This year marks the 500th anniversary of Luther’s heroic act of nailing his 95 Theses to the door, and the Reformation spirit of sharing God’s Word with every person still lives on. It lives on in the Every Home for Christ pioneer missionaries who strive to reach every home in their countries with the Gospel. And it lives on in you, our friends who walk alongside them through your prayerful support. This Christmas issue of Every Home magazine presents you with opportunities to live out the spirit of the Reformation today. As you read these stories, I pray that God will show you how He would have you give to spread His Word to others. His Gospel is for everyone.

Christ in Christmas C h r i stmas O u t r eaches
C
by James Holt
hristmas is still a new idea in Zambia. While the Church there has long celebrated Jesus’ birth, the average Zambian knows little about the holiday. Until recently, it wasn’t uncommon for village children to seek out the nearest Westerners on Christmas morning to wish them “Christmas!” — and then follow up with an expectant demand for presents: “Give me Christmas!” But in recent years, this African nation has imported more elements of the foreign holiday. Decorations are hung in grocery stores, Christmas trees are sold along the road, and one might even spot someone wearing a Santa Claus costume in the 85-degree F. heat. But for the most part, friends and families celebrate the day by simply gathering together for a special meal of rice with chicken, pork or goat. Thirty-year-old Edgar Seko* was filled with anticipation for his own family’s special meal as he carried supplies for their Christmas celebration to Lukona village.
But he wasn’t planning to celebrate Jesus. “In my language, it is pronounced ‘Chriss-mas,’” Edgar says. “Not ‘Christmas.’” Jesus was the furthest thing from Edgar’s mind that day — until he noticed a group of people stop another traveller on the road. He overheard them introduce themselves as Every Home for Christ Zambia and begin to share the Word of God. Edgar walked faster and made sure to avoid eye contact. He didn’t want the EHC pioneer missionaries to ruin his good mood. “I hated to see anyone share the Gospel,” Edgar says. “I thought they were there to talk about sin and stop us from having fun with our friends at Christmas.” To Edgar’s relief, he managed to walk past without being stopped and cheerfully went on his way. But his successful escape was short-lived.
2 When Edgar arrived at home, he was shocked to find a different group of EHC missionaries already there. With a dismayed sigh, he resigned himself to hearing their message and sat down to listen. “I heard one of them explain to my family about the meaning of Christmas, that it is all about Christ,” Edgar says. “There and then, my eyes were opened to see the word ‘Christ’ in ‘Christmas’!” The EHC team continued sharing God’s Word with Edgar’s family. They explained that Jesus was born to save us, and that we can have a new life through faith in Him. To Edgar’s surprise, his wife, children and two of his wife’s friends chose to give their lives to Jesus that day. Edgar, however, was more hesitant. “I was missing out and had not given my life to Jesus to be saved,” Edgar says. “I wanted to give an excuse to do it another time.” Seeing Edgar’s reluctance, one of the EHC missionaries handed him a piece of gospel literature. It was called “A Slave Who Refused to Be Free.” Intrigued, Edgar accepted the booklet and read it — and he realised that he was refusing to let God save him. “I gave my life to the Lord that day!” Edgar says. “Christmas became Christ–mas to me. I am born again!”
1 An EHC worker shares God’s love and plan for salvation. 2 A group gathers at a local well to hear the Gospel.
That Christmas was different from any Edgar’s family had shared before. It wasn’t about Santa Claus and presents and it wasn’t even about the special meal they shared. It was about Jesus, God’s gift of love to us and the new life we all share in Him. *Name changed for anonymity.

She is now on a journey to knowing more about the Lord and the Christ Group leader says her life has been transformed. It took prayer and some gospel literature to rescue her, setting her on a pilgrimage with the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Godfrey says stories like Suraya’s are happening all over Mozambique. They are happening because those who believe in the mission of Every Home for Christ are equipping his team with gospel literature. “Every seasoned EHC Mozambique pioneer missionary knows what the printed page does,” Godfrey says. “Not only does the printed page unlock doors, but it also unlocks hearts. Going on an evangelism effort without gospel literature would be like sending unarmed soldiers to war.” The Mozambique team is armed, and the battles they are winning are transforming the landscape of their country. *Name changed for anonymity.

PEOPLE MUST EAT TOO! The reason for Every Home Global Concern
MALAWI
Above, pictured left, is Vaida Kalua of Wundaninge village demonstrating the sweet potatoes she has produced from the sweet potatoe vines she got from Every Home Global Concern. Vaida is a widow. Her husband passed away and she keeps four children who are orphans. She has plenty of sweet potatoes which she goes to sell at the markets to earn money for food at her home to reduce starvation and eat at least 3 times a day. Every Home Global Concern trains and empowers women to work hard to reduce poverty at a household level. Women are also encouraged to hold positions in their committees, not to be inferior but to have courage that "I can do it!" if given the opportunity. In three months Every Home Global Concern has trained 152 men and 350 women in gender and human rights, 8 being disabled men and 13 being disabled women.

Picture above on the right is the Project Coordinator and the Lead farmer Sangazinje Nyirenda, who is showing the project coordinator how good the sweet potatoes are from Every Home Global Concern. He thanked Every Home Global Concern for the good variety of sweet potatoes given by the project which has also helped many farmers in the area including Vaida as pictured above. 3647 people were trained in Nutrition education (1404 were men and 2243 were women) and 242 were people who were sensitised in HIV/AIDS .

Christmas and Food to Eat because of Every Home Global Concern - Every Home for Christ
MALAWI
There was a time when they had little or nothing to eat but now food availability is abundant to every household in this area of 895 people (488 men and 407 women). Because of Every Home Global Concern, farm activities were Cassava
weeding, issuing of winter inputs (fertiliser, maize seeds and pesticides) and general field management, collection of maize and peanuts for food and seed banks, crop storage and conducting Field Days where farmers learnt from each other.
863 households (476 men and 387 women) with a percentage of 96% were food secure in three staple crops (maize, cassava and rice) for 12 months after Every Home Global Concern had trained the people in farming.

MALAWI Pictured above on the left is a church children were using as Kamenya Supplementary Feeding Centre. For three years children of Kamenya of Fhiyuni village were using a church building whose windows were not safe from wind and rain as a supplementary feeding centre as pictured above. Happy at last as the Every Home Global Concern project has supported the village by constructing their own supplementary feeding centre for the children (pictured above on the right hand side painted in white and with words of global concern) supported by Every Home for Christ. This centre has 70 children and 4 teachers (2 Males and 2 Females). Due to training and food demonstrations conducted at the centre, malnutrition cases amongst children under five has been reduced since they eat porridge at the
school. 18 out of 70 children will graduate to primary level and other under five children will be enrolled this year. These centres have also been used as child protection centres and clinics for children under five where health workers visit to vaccinate the children. It is not only academic learning that is done during children's classes but also help for the children's basic hygiene practices like washing hands after using the toilet and before eating. They learn through songs and demonstrations. During exit strategy meetings school committee members are given the responsibility to make sure that children have eaten and if there is inadequate food for the children, this committee is responsible for the village contribution and food bank monitoring systems.
Supplementary Feeding Centres are reducing malnutrition.
Christmas, and While We Celebrate Christian Persecution Hits All-Time High Worldwide - A report from Prophecy News Watch Nov 10
If you only watched the mainstream media you might be shocked to learn that we are now hitting new all-time highs for the persecution of Christians worldwide. Numerous countries are now expecting to see the near-total eradication of their Christian populations, yet it is rarely reported in the news. Hundreds of thousands each year face torture, imprisonment, persecution, forced displacement and death, according to data presented by several Christian persecution watch organisations. Among the 13 countries that regularly rank among the worst for religious tolerance, in 12 of these the situation worsened in the two-year period of 2015-2017 when compared with the preceding two-year period. In the thirteenth country, Saudi Arabia, treatment of Christians have not worsened but neither has it improved in one
of the most religiously intolerant countries on Earth. In raw numbers, the level of abuse is appalling with an estimated 600,000 Christians suffering serious persecution in 2016 alone. For some this means imprisonment and torture, for others it means being driven from their homes and forced into refugee camps where they are victimised further. And whereas firm numbers are hard to gather, roughly 100,000 Christians worldwide, between 2015 and 2017, have lost their lives to religious intolerance. Once again, North Korea is ranked as the most oppressive place in the world for Christians. In this totalitarian communist state, Christians are forced to hide their faith completely from government authorities, neighbours and often, even their own spouses and children.
Due to ever-present surveillance, many pray with eyes open, and gathering for praise or fellowship is practically impossible. Worship of the ruling Kim family is mandated for all citizens, and those who don't comply are arrested, imprisoned, tortured or killed. Entire Christian families are imprisoned in hard labour camps, where unknown numbers die each year from torture, beatings, overexertion and starvation. Those who attempt to flee to South Korea through China risk execution or life imprisonment. In Syria and Iraq, the situation is especially dire. The Chaldean Bishop Antoine Audo of Aleppo, Syria, reports a drop from 1.2 million to just 500,000 Christians in a 5-year span. As ISIS, Hezbollah, the Assad Regime and dozens of smaller factions of Islamic militants all vie for control, Christians face constant threats of abuse and even massacre. Time and time again, both State and non-State actors in Islamic countries have targeted Christian minorities for extermination, ISIS being the most brazen. Boko Haram, which is now an Islamic State affiliate, has waged a brutal campaign of anti-Christian genocide in Nigeria that has killed thousands of Christians and forced others into slavery. And Boko Haram is not the only group in Nigeria targeting Christians. Between October 8th and October 17th of this year, Islamic Fulani herdsmen massacred 48 Nigerian Christians in violent attacks that saw them breaking down doors, setting fire to churches and slaughtering families in the night. Many more have abandoned their villages in fear. Village leaders report that the Islamic Fulani herdsmen have continued to carry out their attacks despite the presence of soldiers nearby who do nothing to intervene.
"These attacks are being carried out daily. Every day we witness the invasion, killing of our people and the destruction of their houses," according to Moses Tsohu, a Zanwrua village leader and member of Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA). In Iraq, the Christian population has decreased from 1.5 million in 2003 to an estimated 150,000 currently. Now that ISIS has been pushed out, some who fled may return to their homes, but even those will only find their homes looted or utterly destroyed, their lives in ruins. If this trend continues, the Iraqi Christian population will disappear entirely by 2020, some experts believe. Iran is now the source of a new round of crackdowns on Christians as well, many of them hauled off to secret prison and threatened with hefty fines, prison sentences, torture and even death for converting to Christianity or worshipping in "house churches". Iran, feeling the pressure of a lessreligious youth despite its billions spent on Islamic indoctrination, has lashed out at its Christian minority. After requiring all Churches to register with the government and banning all public displays of Christianity (including weddings), it has launched a campaign of terror against private worship services. News reports now abound of religious police breaking down doors, confiscating Bibles and sending entire families off to prison where they are told to renounce their faith. In Islamic countries, blasphemy laws are used as an effective tool to persecute Christians. Indonesia, Iran, Pakistan and many others Islamic nations now see the law being used regularly to imprison Christians who simply do not submit to the rule of Islam.
But Islam is not the only offender. India has also seen large spasms of antiChristian violence with the rise in 2014 of the right-wing Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party, led by India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi. China too has cracked down on Christian clergy and Christian symbols in a new push to make sure obedience to the Communist state is first priority.
theocratic and authoritarian regimes along with violent mobs, Islamic for the most part, have intensified the pace of persecution and slaughter to new levels. Now, more than ever, Christianity needs to come together and be strong in the face of such violence and evil. The Top 10 Persecuting Countries according to Open Doors Ministries are:
In the developed world, the ranks of believers have dwindled more with every passing decade and in the developing world,
- North Korea - Afghanistan - Sudan - Iraq - Yemen
- Somalia - Pakistan - Syria - Iran - Eritrea

BILLY GRAHAM begins his 100th Year aged 99 years old By the time he graduated high school, the young Billy Graham wrote in his yearbook, “My hopes and plans for the future are to serve God and do His will as a minister of the Gospel.” “I am not a great preacher, and I don’t claim to be a great preacher,” he once said. “I’m an ordinary preacher, just communicating the Gospel in the best way I know how." ‘It Has Been Solely God’s Doing’ It was the 1949 Los Angeles Crusade that brought this farm-boy-turned-evangelist into the public eye at age 30. Those tent meetings scheduled for three weeks lasted for more than eight weeks as crowds continued filling a gigantic canvas tent downtown night after night. By the end, Mr. Graham had preached to over 400,000 people. “If anything has been accomplished through my life, it has been solely God’s doing, not mine, and He—not I—must get the credit.” - Billy Graham "Never will we forget the Billy Graham Crusades in Australia, New Zealand, London and the United Kingdom and I was privileged to attend three world evangelism conferences in Lausanne Switzerland and Amsterdam with Christian leaders from all across the world". - Eric Leach Thank God for Billy Graham!
