or those of us privileged to live in the modernised world, loving others may include things like paying for the order of the person in line behind you at the coffee shop or volunteering to work in the church nursery so young parents can enjoy the service. While those are wonderful examples of loving others, demonstrating the love of Christ often looks very different for Every Home for Christ workers who share the Gospel home to home in other parts of the world. This newsletter features stories of some extraordinary pioneer missionaries who demonstrated extravagant love to others in need while sharing the Gospel home to home. Although taking the Good News of Jesus to every home in a nation is always our number-one priority,we also seek to do this in a spirit of Christ-honouring compassion. Compassionate EHC workers in Mozambique, for example, helped provide healthcare and restore hope to a desperate family when others had left them to die. The persistent love and fervent prayer of an EHC team in Nicaragua resulted in the miraculous healing of a paralyzed co-worker. And EHC workers went without food and slept in a stable after an exhausting day of ministering the Gospel to the poor in Nepal . I know you will be encouraged!

An EHC worker comforts a young boy plagued by malnutrition and infected jigger bites.
If you had to pinpoint the moment when Mirina Sarin’s life began to unravel, it was likely the day her daughter Rosa got divorced. It was a marriage that Rosa had to end not only for her own safety but also for the safety of her four children. Mirina welcomed her daughter and grandchildren home with open arms. Known as “Granny” to the village children, she was excited to finally be Granny to her own grandchildren. But it wasn’t long before Mirina’s dreams for the future were interrupted by a living nightmare. Godfrey Bhodyera, National Director of Every Home for Christ Mozambique, explains what happened shortly after Rosa moved home: “Rosa went with a cousin to fetch some firewood in the nearby bush. While they were in the bush, Rosa screamed, saying that someone was hitting her in the head with a machete.” The cousin ran to help Rosa but found her alone and
unharmed. Nevertheless, Rosa continued to scream and then collapsed to the ground. The cousin begged for someone — anyone — to come and help, but by the time others arrived, Rosa was already dead. “Her death was probably caused by meningitis,” Godfrey explains. “But it was viewed by the village as an act of witchcraft.” Mirina’s son, Pinto, labelled his mother a witch and blamed her for Rosa’s mysterious death. Overnight, Mirina’s identity changed from “Granny” to “witch,” and the rest of the village bought into the narrative, believing her family was cursed.“People believed that she deserved punishment from the gods,” Godfrey says. This left Mirina in an extremely vulnerable position. She was no longer young and healthy enough to provide for her four young grandchildren — especially without help from the rest of her village.
1 Granny Mirina and her four grandchildren were severely malnourished when EHC workers found them.
“Granny Mirina was already a very poor woman who didn’t even have a hut to live in, just a small shade-like structure made of grass and hand-cut poles,” Godfrey explains. “Literally, the old lady and her grandchildren lived outside.” Things only got worse. Mirina and the children were malnourished and exposed to the elements. After a few months of living outside, parasitic fleas called jiggers infected their bodies. Godfrey talks in disgust about how much Africans hate these flea-like creatures: “They burrow into the surface of the skin. The wounds are painful and can lead to infection, amputation of the digits and even death.” It was during this time that Miguel, Mirina’s oldest grandson, looked his grandmother in the eyes and asked, “Is there anyone who cares about us?” This broke something inside Mirina. Knowing they were helpless, she prayed that her grandchildren would die and that their deaths would be as painless as possible. “The unquantifiable pain caused by jiggers and malnutrition was just too big to endure,” Godfrey says. “There was absolutely no hope for recovery and betterment of life. She saw death as the best option.” It was at this moment, on the cusp of

death, that the EHC team arrived in Mirina’s village. When they saw Mirina and her grandchildren, they were shocked. “They had never seen people suffering to such an extent, though jiggers are a common phenomenon in Mozambique,” Godfrey explains. “They were angry and blamed the neighbours for turning a blind eye on the family.” The workers thought, "This is an elderly woman and children. She is a part of your community. How could you just leave her out here to die?" But they also believed that, even in this dark moment, God could work a miracle in this family and in the life of this village. The EHC workers brought Mirina and her grandchildren to the nearest hospital, and they were prepared to cover all the medical bills. When they arrived, nurses and doctors rushed to treat the family, worried by the worst case of jiggers they had ever seen. The EHC team never lost hope. During treatment, they told Mirina about Jesus, a God and Saviour so powerful that even the winds and the waves obeyed Him. Mirina was grateful for a God with such great power, and Matthew 8:27 brought her comfort. God had heard her prayer for death and instead provided her with a healed and restored life.
3 Infected jigger bites on the children’s feet made it painful to walk or play.
Godfrey explains how dramatically things have changed for Mirina’s family: “After the family was healed, they were listed as beneficiaries of government welfare programs. They now receive food aid from social welfare, and the children are enrolled in the primary school with the government paying for their education. Mirina also now receives a monthly allowance from the social welfare.” This was aid the family should have been receiving all along, and the EHC workers have been working with the welfare office to ensure that others like Mirina also receive the help they need. For Mirina, although there are still tough days, life is back together. “She and her daughter were so very close, and her death still haunts Granny Mirina,” Godfrey says. But Mirina is also thankful for how incredibly far she has come. Her family has been restored. The EHC team also met with Pinto, Mirina’s son who first labelled her a
witch. “We managed to share the Gospel with Pinto and told him that his mother was not a witch,” Godfrey says. “Pinto and Mirina’s relationship was restored, and Pinto has volunteered in the construction project to build a house for Mirina.” This story is now known across the villages in Mozambique. Where death and hopelessness once existed, there is now revival. “This story sent shockwaves throughout the whole village and into the neighbouring villages,” Godfrey says. “Many people accepted Jesus Christ after seeing the transformation of Mirina’s family. These people, who were outcasts in their village, are now viewed as highly blessed.” Mirina sees herself as highly blessed as well. Godfrey says, “She loves Christ with her whole heart, and her pastor reports that her family is the first to arrive at church every time.” 5

Healing Touch N i c a r a g u a

Marco saw two incredible things within the span of three months. One was absolutely horrible. The other was completely miraculous. The horrible thing happened as Marco was riding his bicycle home from a day of teaching. Up ahead, he saw another bicycling teacher peddle into an intersection — only to be hit by an oncoming pickup truck. The impact threw the teacher into the air before collapsing him onto the pavement. The pickup truck never stopped. The teacher wasn’t moving. Marco ran to the injured man’s side. It was Iván, a third grade teacher at Marco’s school. As Iván recovered from the shock of the collision, he screamed out in pain. Marco quickly called for an ambulance. At the hospital, the prognosis was grim. Iván had three broken ribs; his stomach, kidneys and lungs had suffered internal injuries; and his back was broken in three places. Iván was paralyzed. After a week
of tests in the intensive care unit, the doctors confirmed that Iván would be a quadriplegic for the rest of his life — a life that wouldn’t last much longer — and they sent him home. Iván couldn’t get up to move. He couldn’t eat on his own. He couldn’t even lift his finger. But he could talk. So Marco brought friends to visit Iván on a regular basis. They were all workers with Every Home for Christ, and they prayed for God to touch Iván’s body and heal him. Though Iván wasn’t a believer, he was touched by the love shown to him by our workers. Sometimes, even his own family didn’t visit him, but these strangers who loved the Lord did. They told him about the Gospel, and they prayed for him. Though Iván didn’t believe in these prayers himself, they always helped him feel a little better. One night, three months after the accident, our EHC brothers and sisters filled Iván’s home for a special time of prayer.
They prayed with great fervour, and as they prayed, Iván began to feel something. He felt God touch his head and then the touch flowed through him to his ribs, his stomach, his kidneys, his lungs and his spine. Iván felt so good and overwhelmed with peace that he fell into a deep sleep. Hours later, Iván awoke and remembered our workers’ prayer. To his amazement, he was able to move his finger. Then he moved his hand, his arms and his legs. He sat up and removed the medical equipment attached to him. He felt completely normal. Iván stood and walked into the kitchen to find his mother, who was caring for him. Amazed, she rushed into his arms, crying with joy. Then she made Iván a big plate of food. He was hungry. When Iván returned to the hospital, the doctors were astonished. They ran tests, and though Iván’s medical records showed that he had only a few months left to live, the doctors declared his body completely
healed. They couldn’t explain it — but Iván knew that God had healed him. Iván went to our workers to thank them for their consistent prayers and visits, and he gave his life to Jesus. Afterward, he finally married his son’s mother. He also went back to work and joined a local church. Today, Iván leads a Christ Group in an indigenous community, where he helps others to encounter this God who sent people to love him, who healed him and who saved him from his sins. “I am a very happy man,” Iván says. “And I have committed to evangelise home to home with Every Home for Christ Nicaragua. We need to fulfill the Great Commission.” Iván went from a man teetering on the verge of death to a pioneer missionary sharing the God of life. And it’s all because a group of EHC workers chose to befriend a stranger, pray for him in his time of need and love him with the extreme love of Jesus. Photo Attributions

ignificant prayer and fasting preceded their outreach to the mountain regions of Nepal. The religious climate was changing, and hostility was growing against those who bear the name of Christ. But that didn’t squelch EHC National Director David’s passion to reach every home in his nation with the Gospel. If anything, it intensified his passion. Focusing on unreached remote areas, David recruited believers throughout Nepal who shared his vision, and the response was overwhelming. A small army of valiant warriors signed up to reach their nation with the Gospel. But they needed to be prepared for the challenges they would likely encounter. The pioneer missionaries would spend long days climbing steep mountain trails because there were no roads where they were going. They would cross deep ravines on aging suspension bridges weakened by years of heavy rains. Their bodies would ache from carrying packs of gospel literature up mountain terrain on foot. Some of the pioneer missionaries would be treated harshly — possibly even beaten. They didn’t know how far they would go, what they would encounter, or whether they’d return unharmed, but those weren’t the reasons the pioneer missionaries spent days fasting and praying. Knowing that 4 million of their countrymen had never heard the name of Jesus is what kept them on their knees. To cover more territory, they divided into teams and headed off in different directions. They were prayed-up and eager to proclaim
the message of salvation through the one, true, living God. After several weeks, reports of their experiences began to trickle in. Some faced threats of beatings from hostile villagers who despise the name of Jesus. Others were met with blank stares and the question, “Who is Jesus?” One team was accused of taking money to promote Christianity in Hindu communities. Another found out exactly what it’s like to be rejected and scorned. One team in particular had walked all day on steep mountain trails, stopping to share the Gospel in villages along the way. As they went, they asked for a place to stay the night, but time after time, they were turned away by distrusting homeowners. It had been hours since the workers had last seen anyone, and night was setting in. The weary pioneer missionaries had no choice but to keep walking in the darkness. Finally, around midnight, they met a welcoming stranger. The poor farmer said he had no food to offer them — he couldn’t even feed his own family that day — and all his beds were full. But he did have a stable they were welcome to stay in if they wanted. The pioneer missionaries thanked the farmer for his kindness and accepted the offer. Then they thanked God for His goodness and spent that night in a stable, thinking about the fact that a stable is where Jesus was born. David begins his follow-up report by saying, “We praise God for supplying our needs for this outreach. He answered our prayers.”
Because of their boldness, the Christians in Nepal reached 81 remote mountain villages during that outreach in 2012. They shared gospel literature with 3,517 households and received documentation that 375 people had responded to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As a result, five new Christ Group fellowships were formed where the new believers receive biblical discipleship. Three years later, in 2015, Nepal was struck by a devastating earthquake that claimed more than 8,500 lives and left thousands more homeless. Some of those who lost their homes were the EHC workers who had served in the amazing outreach of 2012. In spite of
their loss, they’re still proclaiming the Gospel all over their Hindu nation. Why do they do it? “Jesus Christ paid a high price on the cross in order to save us from eternal hell,” David says. “Because of His love and sacrifice for us, we are all committed to share the Good News no matter what our situation.” Please pray for the people of Nepal who are struggling to rebuild their lives and for the selfless EHC workers who continue to proclaim the Gospel to their nation in the midst of hardship. Though their earthly possessions may be few, they will receive a crown of glory.

DOES GOD ALWAYS ANSWER PRAYER? Excerpts from "THE KNEELING CHRISTIAN" We now come to one of the most important questions that any man can ask.
However, often the Christian knows of the riches of God in glory in Jesus Christ, but he does not seem to know how to get them.
Does God always answer prayer? Is there any certainty in prayer? My own profound conviction is: yes, God does always answer true prayer. Some so-called prayers He does not answer, because he does not hear them. When His people are rebellious, He said, "When ye make many prayers, I will not hear" (Isaiah 1:15).
When we say that no true prayer goes unanswered, we are not claiming that God always gives just what we ask for. Have you ever met a parent so foolish as to treat his child like that? We do not give our child a red-hot poker because he asks for it!
God's answer to prayer may be "Yes", or it may be "No". It may be "Wait", for But a child of God ought to expect answers it may be that He plans a much larger to prayer. God means every prayer to have blessing than we imagined, and one an answer. which involves other lives as well as our own and ... God's answer is sometimes And yet that wonderful declaration of "No". But this is not necessarily a proof St Paul: "All things are yours, for ye are of known and wilful sin in the life of the Christ's" (1 Corinthians 3:21), seems so suppliant, although there may be sins of plainly and so tragically untrue sometimes. ignorance. The owners of Mount Morgan, in Queensland, toiled arduously for years on its barren slopes, eking out a miserable existence, never knowing that under their feet was one of the richest sources of gold the world has ever known. There was wealth, vast, undreamt of, yet unimagined and unrealised. It was 'theirs', yet not theirs.
God said "No" to St Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:8,9 - 'Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me'.
More often than not the refusal is due to our ignorance or selfishness in asking, for we know not how to pray as we ought. Romans 8:26 - "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express".
until the answer comes," said Muller. I have been praying for sixty-three years and eight months for one man's conversion. He is not converted yet, but he will be! How can it be otherwise? There is the unchanging promise of Jehovah, and on that I rest." Was this delay due to to some persistent hindrance from the devil? (Daniel 10:13) Was it a mighty and prolonged effort on the part of Satan to shake or break Muller's faith? For no sooner was Muller dead than his friend was converted - even before the funeral.
That was what was wrong with the mother of Zebedee's children. She came and worshipped our Lord and prayed to Him. He quickly replied, "You know not what you Yes, his prayer was granted, though the ask". (Matthew 20:22) answer took a long time in coming. So many of George Muller's petitions were granted God's answer is sometimes "Wait". He may him that it is no wonder that he once delay the answer because we are not yet exclaimed, "Oh, how good, kind, gracious fit to receive the gift we crave - as with and condescending is the One with Whom wrestling with Jacob. Do you remember we have to do! I am only a poor, frail, sinful the famous prayer of Augustine - "O God, man, but He heard my prayers ten thousands make me pure, but not now"? Are not our of times. My friend writes: "I had distinct guidance from God regarding my beloved God's delays are not denials. We do not know ... that it was the will of God she should be why He sometimes delays the answer and at taken ...
