ASSET is the scientiďŹ cally designed diagnostic test, which stands for Assessment of Scholastic Skills through Educational Testing. Through multiple choice questioning, ASSET focuses on determining the level of conceptual understanding in students and not how much they have mugged up. The test generates detailed reports for students indicative of their progress and topics that require attention and improvement. The teachers receive a special report which indicates the class performance as compared to the other divisions as well as other schools on a national level. The reports are accompanied by an instructional supplement suggesting the future course of action for both students as well as teachers.

Assessments are usually meant to serve three main purposes – to enable students to determine their level of mastery in the concepts, to provide the educators with a feedback on the effectiveness of their teaching and to provide data which can help deliver focussed instructions. ASSET aims to enable effective education for all stake holders. Students With ASSET, students can obtain an accurate feedback on their strengths and weaknesses and further improve their skills by themselves being involved in the learning as well as evaluation process.
Teachers With ASSET, teachers can monitor and evaluate each student of their class and benchmark the performance with other divisions as well as schools in the country. Based on progress reports, teachers can get a better insight into the progress of each child and aim towards continuous skill improvement.
Schools ASSET enables schools to keep an eye on the overall progress of the students and scale their performance in comparison to other schools in the country. The performance and effectiveness of the teachers can also be tracked through the detailed reports.

The Evaluation Process
Report cards in school usually show the marks and any inconsistency indicates that the student has gone wrong. However, neither the student nor the teacher can pin-point the root cause behind the irregularity in performance, thus limiting further improvement. ASSET believes in continuous improvement by solving the core problems. With ASSET, the evaluation is presented in the form of a detailed report for both students as well as teachers. The comprehensive analysis has a simplistic format and gives relevant information on the growth of the students. The reports are easy to infer and can be easily understood by students and teachers alike. The colour-coded format of the reports organizes the data and enables effortless browsing. The reports include a teacher as well as student centric report respectively – the Teacher MyBook and the Student MyBook. ASSET, through extensive research in the field of learning, has made sure students, educators and parents can reap utmost benefits out of the evaluation process through the following assistance reports.

Skill Performance Report ASSET helps in determining the strengths and weaknesses of the entire class to enable further improvement.
Annual Analysis The yearly report depicts the improvement in the school performance each year.
Divisional Analysis In order to benchmark performance, ASSET provides sectional analysis of each division of a grade in order to weigh the performance in comparison to other divisions in the same school as well as nationally.
Class Performance Table ASSET generates class-wise reports for each student in individual subjects. This helps identify the misconceptions and forms a platform for further action.

Learning Enhancement Facilitatotors ASSET includes a range of services to improve learning these have been developed through extensive research and consist of the TeacherMyBook and the StudentMyBook.
Teacher MyBook
Student MyBook
Teachers can mark students on their performance; however, often they cannot point out the precise limitations in the students’ learning. The ASSET TeacherMyBook is a customized folder for each subject-teacher on the performance of every class. It points out the gaps in learning in each student and simultaneously provides reference material recommending ways to augment the learning process.
Students are extremely grade oriented in their development through schools in the fear of being reprimanded by their parents and teachers. However, this does not help them in their progress as they are simply not aware of the root cause behind the gaps in learning.
MY BOOK
The ASSET StudentMyBook presents the students with a customized feedback and breakdown of their performance. Individual test results are accompanied by a detailed analysis listing out the students’ strengths and weaknesses. The students also receive practice tests concentrating on their weak points. The answers to the tests are also made available, with elaborate explanations, to enhance the self learning process and to equip the students with skills to avoid any flaws in future.
MY BOOK
“Customised feedback and analysis provided in MyBook helps us to work on our strengths and weaknesses. The surprise package was the Practice Questions and explanations to tackle just those niggling weak areas. It was very thoughtful of you to provide such practice. Answering these questions would definitely help us improve in our weak areas. Thank you, ASSET, for making assessments enjoyable!”

Sample Parent Letter Dear Parent, ASSET – A DIAGNOSTIC SKILL BASED ASSESSMENT While several external tests are being taken round the year, this year I would like the students to participate in an ongoing nationally representative assessment test called ASSET developed by the team of IIM-A Alumni. We are preparing our children for tomorrow and hence it is important for us to understand how well students are learning with the help of experts in this field. Over 1000 schools have incorporated ASSET as part of their curriculum and over 1 MILLION children have taken ASSET so far over the past ten years. ASSET is a unique test that checks the depth of students’ understanding on every topic. The fee for the test is ` 350 for English, Maths and Science (Classes 3 to 10) and ` 150 each for Hindi (Class 4 to 8) and Social Studies (Classes 5 to 10). This amount has been added to the fee structure itself to facilitate collection of the fees. The test consists only of multiple choice questions and provides feedback on students’ vocabulary levels, their ability to comprehend texts in varied formats, apply the concepts taught in real life situations and develop a love for learning and understanding new things. All students will receive a Certificate and the ASSET MyBook. ASSET MyBook is a personalised instructional material for each student based on the results. It contains: the detailed result highlighting the student’s strengths and weaknesses; practice questions along with the explanations and answers for the concepts that the student is weak in. It is also worth noting that Class 7 students scoring the 95th percentile or higher in the ASSETMathematics, Science, or English tests, taken in August 2011, would be eligible to participate in the Duke TIP India Talent Search. This talent search programme is offered by Duke University, one of the top 10 universities in the US, in partnership with ASSET. The Duke Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP) is a gifted education program being conducted in USA for past 30 years and for the last 2 years in India. Its purpose is to identify gifted children and provide them and their parents the resources for them to reach their full educational potential. More information is available on the Duke TIP website at www.tip.duke. edu/india I am quite convinced that students will not only enjoy doing the ASSET tests as they are stress free and require no prior preparation but will also benefit greatly from the individualised analysis and remedials in form of practice questions. Please visit www.ei-india.com for more information on how ASSET is helping children and schools across the country. We do look forward to your continued support towards the initiatives taken by the school in helping our children learn better.
Yours truly, Principal
