We, along with many other high profile people within the MMA community in this country, are pushing to use one simple standardized set of rules. Above is a shortlist of the "UNIFIED AMATEUR RULES" that should be used. Renowned referee Marc Goddard also explains the reasons for having a standardized set of rules. The rule set is the Professional "UNIFIED RULES" for MMA with a few basic adjustments outlined in the above graphic.” - MMA OFFICIALS As these rules become the standard, you will see the old rules disappear, we have already gotten rid of the old “amateur rules for Eikö shows, and as the clubs get used to these new rules you will see us slowly fazwe out the “Semi-Pro” rules of old, which we are for now categorising as “Amateur B-Class”.

This was a too and fro battle, fought at a high pace, it went the distance and came down to a judges decision

Bobby Scott couldn’t capitalise on this position before the 1st Round bell rang, with John Henney showing resilience to make through to the next round.

As the fight progressed Henney pushed forward, started to get the better of the exchanges and took the more dominating positions.

Overall this was a great contest and one that was really hard to judge, going to a split decision...

Another superbly even matched bout making for an exciting watch. Both fighters were full of confidence, with each taking the stance that the best form of defence is attack. As the bell rang, both fighters came out of the blocks at a pace, they quickly came together with no hanging around to feel each other out. Shots were exchanged quickly before Holmes looked to take the initiative with a an attempted takedown. This was partially stuffed by Zell, but in an attempted ot make it count, homes drove zell towards the wall of the Octagon with everything he had. Just before they collided into the wall, Zell skilfully rotated, used his momentum against him and turned Holme’s, slamming him hard into the wall instead. As Holmes looked to try to get straight back to his feet, he gave up his back, Zell pounced, took the rear mount and secured a rear naked choke with speed. Holmes was helpless to escape and had no option but to tap, making Zell Victorious.

Zell Celebrates his win with his team Combat Sports Newcastle. His prize of a trip to Thailand is what this tournament was all for and we caught up with him once he got back...

Zell in Thailand... Hi Zell, congratulations on winning the 4-Man, after the adrenaline of winning had wore off, were you excited to be travelling to Thailand? Yes, I am very pleased to have had this very exciting opportunity to see the country of origin of such sport as muay tai

st le Flying t he Ne wca ue st! Q colours at Te am

How was travelling there? Did you go on your own? No, I went on the trip with my friends, who were really supportive. We had a lot of fun in Thailand, and even though it was a long, 12-hour flight, it was totally worth it.

You were the receiver of a weeks trainingat Team Quest in Chiang Mai, what are their facilities like?

All of the necessary training equipment was provided, such as an outside ring and an inside matted grappling area. The presence and availability of facilities was very good.

What kind of training did you do with Team Quest? They offer a variety of different training programs on all levels. Personally, I have tried MMA grappling and muay tai.

aining! Out door Tr

Was it different training in Thailand to say England or Chechnya? Basically, the main difference between training in Thailand and England is that the English training is more intense. In Thailand, on the other hand, the training is more relaxed due to it being undertaken whilst enjoying the holiday.

How did you find the Thai People and their Culture? The culture of Thailand is fascinating, which differs greatly from UK and Chechnya. People are very hospitable, which made us feel very welcome surrounded by a friendly atmosphere.

ry e njoying t he sce ne You Stayed in Chang mai while at Team Quest, what is it like as a place to visit? I very much enjoyed the training given in Thailand, it gave me a big opportunity to gain great experience and training. However, in my opinion, Chang Mai is more of a place to have a holiday rather than to have training vacation.

Even the park is a great place to be.

Did you go anywhere else in Thailand? I have travelled around Chang Mai to see beautiful places and famous sights. I have also visited Bangkok, which is a much busier place with more places to see.

pool! Re laxing by t he Overall, how was your trip? Would you recommend Thailand for a training Holiday?

Overall my trip was great, I enjoyed it very much. It was worth each minute of training to win this Eiko tournament and get the chance to go to Thailand. If you wish to have a holiday, Chang Mai is the perfect place, but when I go bavk to Thailand, I would like to go to Phuket, which is in the south part of Thailand. I have heard they have loads of different camps there for beginners as well as for more advanced martial artistsw.

The first pro fight was one that was very much highly anticipated by anyone who had followed both of these two young fighters in their undefeated starts in MMA.

Lewis showed very good wrestling and all-round grappling control. Although Gregson did well to get back to his feet and land some strikes.

In the clinch, Gregson gained some momentum, but this was soon to be stoped by his opponent...

Lewis Monarch would catch Gregson while exiting the clinch, knocking him to the floor, he quickly followed it up with some powerful GnP shots, forcing the referee to stop the bout.
