THE CARAVELS
FIRST TRIP (1492-1493) Columbus reached several Caribbean islands : Guanahani (San Salvador) , Cuba ( Juana ) and Santo Domingo ( the Spanish ) . In The Spanish crashed his best ship , the " Santa Maria " and its wood a fort called "Christmas " was built. Columbus returned to Spain in the caravel " La NiĂąa" .
SECOND TRIP (1496-1496) Columbus discovered the Lesser Antilles (Dominica and Guadeloupe) , passed through Puerto Rico ( San Juan Bautista ) and reached the Spanish fort where he found the Christmas destroyed. Nearby, he founded his first city which he named La Isabela . After Cuba explored and discovered sailing south Jamaica ( Santiago) .
TRHIRD TRIP (1498-1500) Columbus discovered the island of Trinidad and the mouth of the Orinoco River in Venezuela ( Tierra de Gracia) . Returning to the Spanish they took prisoner by complaints from disgruntled Spaniards with his command. He returned to Spain in chains , where Queen Elizabeth released him.
FOURTH TRIP (1502-1504) Christopher Columbus on his fourth voyage, commanding four caravels. He crossed the Atlantic and reached the island Martinique came to Honduras, the explored the coasts of Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Arriving in Panama he was attacked by Indians forced him to leave its shores, came to Jmaica with battered ships without food, sent a flotilla to Santo Domingo for help and were rescued.
