TYPOGRAPHY AROUND ME BY FELIPE COVANZI
Traffic Signs All traffic signs should be designed taking the legibility into account, so that the drivers and pedestrians can see and read the signs from far away. For that reason, most of signs are written by using sans-serif fonts. It is also important to highlight a plain background and a contrast between the colour of the font and the background as well as the letter-spacing.
Access card My GYM access card shows me the name of the GYM where I workout at. We can see an exclusive sans-serif typography designed to the brand. The italic expresses movment and matches with the GYM’s logo. The colours are very simple so that we can easily recognize that it is the GYM’s access card.
Rolling paper OCB smoking rolling paper has two different types of fonts. The “OCB” (the brand’s name) word is more legible and highlighted than the words “slim” and “premium”. All words were written on a black, plain background in a contrast. The font applied on “slim” and “premium” words is classy, modern, charming to show that the paper owns those features.
Grafitti A controversial art, grafitti is considered criminal offence and vandalism in many countries - the penalties are very heavy in Australia. The artist usually writes, by using their own font and exclusive typography, either their name or their crew name. We can see on this graffiti, which is probably a crew’s name, an exclusive font and a great work with colours, shape and shadows matching with the fish at the end.
