About me As far back as I can remember myself I loved to draw on every surface lying on my way. My passion for Arts and Architecture led me to obtain my diploma in Architecture from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki / Faculty of Engineering. The last years I faced challenges and experience in several fields of Architecture and Visual arts, including comic stories creation, digital game development, graphic design experience and participation at architectural competitions, while at the same time I had the chance to collaborate with architectural offices in Greece. I recently worked as an architectural assistant for the noted architectural firm, MAS-Makridis Associates. During my professional experience in MAS office, I had the opportunity to contribute to all phases of the architectural design process in a wide variety of projects and scales, and experience a challenging working environment including meeting deadlines under pressure, team working, taking initiatives and new colleagues guidance. Through my experience I gained the ability to combine practical issues with creative spirit, develop organizational skills, and be open in new ways of work. I believe that creativity, research and team working are some of the pathways someone needs to cross in order to reach new fascinating worlds of Architecture and Visual arts.

The project is located in an existing building in Psiri area, in Athens city center and extends on 3 levels, with an enclosed back yard. The entrance is realized through a bronze plated fennel-like shelter, significant of the distinct use of the building, and leads to the ground floor which accommodates the lobby, reception and relaxation– exhibition area. Two lifts and a staircase connect the ground floor with the lower levels, as well as the upper floors of the building. The first underground level with the curvy wooden corridors accommodates the main hammam facilities, placed in a sequential order from

reinterpretation of the envelope Minimazation of the surfaces directed eastwards & westwards

The fold & The Atrium The folding of the envelope upon itself creating a unified space

The project concerns the proposal for the creation of a 19 floors mixed use tower in Accra in the context of the GN-Groupe Ndoum invited design competition entry. The NF Tower occupies a prominent position on a one-acre plot within the North Ridge enclave of the Central Business District. With 19 floors and a total area of 25670 square meters, the tower incorporates retail, offices, commercial and hospitality functions. The design combines intriguing public spaces with secure private areas. A central atrium prevails in the interior, offering natural conditions for visitors and occupants. The building envelope unfolds around the atrium, providing ideal conditions in terms of sustainable design, as well as the interior quality of spaces. Atrium

Vertical connections

Uses

Dynamism Optimazation of the shape for the wind & the sun exposure and the programmatic needs

Cantilevers Extended slabs surrounding the building mass provide shading and protection

The proposal reconsiders the standard podium-tower typology, where the tower is placed on a podium base with the evident programmatic segregation of two volumes, blended together with interconnected functions. Offices, hotel, and retail functions are interwoven within the tower, sharing a common atrium, which plays an important role for the horizontal building circulation. Main intention is to create an eco-friendly building, which takes advantage of natural resources like sun and wind, in order to minimize its carbon footprint by reducing to the maximum possible energy consuming Electro-Mechanical features and offer comfortable internal conditions to its occupants.

Scenario The project was submitted for the architectural contest organized by the online platform CTRL+SPACE (site: www. ctrl-space.net) concerning a proposal for a cultural building refurbisment. The area of the extinct of Ospedale al Mare is located on the Lido Island at the province of Venice. The proposal attemps to create a place which takes into consideration both historic value of the Hospital complex and the nature significance of the surrounding area. The complex is interpreted as a creative center that targets to a public of different ages and backgrounds reviving the therapeutical philoshophy of the past function that was based on benefic properties of sun, sand, sea and art. The basic axis of synthetic idea is based on the preservation of existing buildings and vegetation. Athletic activities, playgrounds and parks are located into the green spaces while the resting open space hosts plazas, walking - sitting space and an open air theater. 21

Syracuse Archimedes

Design concept

Murro di Porco Lighthouse

Scenario The lighthouse of Murro di Porco, located on the area of Syracuse, is a place where history and nature are combined. The proposal tries to achieve the aims of the architectureal contest by creating a place which takes into consideration both the historic value of Syracuse and the landscape significance of the lighthouse surrounding area. The lighthouse is interpreted as a center and also a starting point to discover the local area and Sicily as well. Artists, scientists, researchers, students, adventurers, water sports and nature enthusiasts, tourists and local visitors meet up into a wild and dream-like scenery of sky, rock and sea where the lighthouse keeps the first role. The proposal goes back over history of Syracouse to discover a mathematical treatise attributed to Archimedes of Syracouse, called “Ostomachion” which is also known as loculus Archimedius. The word “Ostomachion” has its roots in the greek word “Ostomachion”, which means "bone-fight", from οστεον (osteon), "bone" and μαχη(mache), "fight, battle, combat". The “ostomachion” which he describes was a puzzle and was played perhaps by several persons with pieces made of bone.

The project was submitted for the architectural contest organized by the association of DOS GROUP concerning a proposal for the outer shell design of a 1Mw Biomass Power Plant. The proposal attempts to relate technology and nature by translating the function of an industrial building to architectural terms. The unit consists of an orthogonal prism to which the machinery and functional equipment is incorporated in. The materials chosen to build the cell are based on wood and metal that relate with sustainability and recycling. The outer cell designed with the aim of parametric software (Grasshopper for Rhino) which automates the parameters and the architectural design parts (size and number of elements, distances, colors etc.). The cell consists of two layers, an iron sheets one colored vertically onto which is supported the outer layer of small wooden horizontal elements of different colors. The software gives alternative facades by transforming façade’s partitions and elements’ size and number. The final result is a cell of 4000 horizontal elements colored in 20 different tones that seems to change as the observer moves. The building takes one neutral color when observed from distance that splits in different tones as someone approaches.

The project was submitted for the architectural contest “Rome Community Ring", organized by Young Architects Competitions association. The subject concerns research and proposal on the revival of an abandoned part of a historic fortress ring in Rome. The reuse proposal is about the creation of an artistic creativity center. In combination with the urban intervention program Rome Community Ring, the old fortress acts as a host space for artistic movement and local activities, aiming at the area’s development in local and urban aspect. Concerning the design concept, the synthesis aims to break the fortress’s isolation character through the design of a fluxes grid that unifies the outer and inner spaces of the complex.

The objective of “Traces in industrial pathways” is the approach of a deserted industrial complex at the city of Corfu, through the research and the revitalization of its historic, architectural and functional value changing as years pass by. The old factory, being characterized as an industrial heritage monument, is situated opposite city’s port at the suburb called Mantoyki. The new use proposed aims to combine the touristic and traditional values of the area and transfer them onto the building. The proposal is about a vigorous multi-space of tourism and culture that includes exhibition halls, industrial museum, library, screening and seminar room, restaurant and outdoor cinema. Concerning the design axis, a tissue of indoor and outdoor spaces is created based on a grid deriving from the traces of complex’s existing and demolished buildings. 49

The proposal was created during the undergraduate studio of Architectural Technology. The course focuses on the architectural phase of construction and includes three stages: analysis, design and construction site. The result of the concept research is a luxurious residence at the edge of a cliff, developing in three levels. Two rectangular volumes intersect diagonally, resulting in a breathtaking synthesis that integrates in the rock while at the same time a part of it projects from the edge of the rock. The architectural concept is resolved in architectural and structural levels in scales 1:50 to 1:20-1:5 (construction details). 55
