EJO SOCIAL MEDIA
A Note SOCIAL MEDIA has become an essential tool for Rwanda to tell its story to the world and many believe it will become the most important communication tool of this century. As a firm dedicated to promoting effective use of the tool, Ejo Social Media provides analytics and latest rankings for best users – as part of its mission to help individuals and local organisations tell their stories through the social web. This report contains the latest rankings of social media users in the country, with lists of top 10’s and top 5’s in different categories. We have ranked brands, Twitter users and influential figures on Facebook, as well as public officials and institutions, causes and NGOs, journalists and media houses, and bloggers. Ejo SM has worked to collect important facts and figures (using online metric tools) for up to 70 accounts over the last months of 2013—which were then used to draft a shortlist of users in the categories. It was then submitted to a panel of social media experts and enthusiasts who then wrote down the final lists. Throughout the rankings, we strongly did put in consideration levels of activity, quality of posts, influence and innovation of users in 2013.
Our team would like to thank President Paul Kagame for inspiring many Rwandans (young and old) and encouraging leaders to join and use social networks to express views, interact and tell stories. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the undisclosed members of the panel and those whom we consulted to make these rankings even more relevant. —Gilbert D. Rwabigwi 4
