Elaine Edmonds Introduction I am an enthusiastic and dedicated Environmental Planner. My undergraduate degree established my strong environmental foundation and gives me an understanding of many complex environmental issues. I worked in environmental planning for two years, completing planning and licencing documents in a consultancy environment. My M.Sc. in Spatial Planning supports this work further, allowing me to be increasingly independent in the service of clients. I am due to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Urban Design in December. My varied educational background means I can complete many types of project in your company profile, thus ensuring I can be billable for the maximum amount of time. In the last year I have taken short courses in Environmental Communication, Green Building Design and Building Energy Rating. I was involved in the setting up of the Green Building Council of Ireland and the Living Building Institute, Ireland.

Verbal Communication Skills Presentations and Lecturing I was invited to lecture in two international universities on the International Development Context due to my experience in China and the UK. Client Satisfaction While in my last two positions I have been involved with and responsible for client satisfaction on a number of projects including EIA’s. Visual Communication Projects and Portfolio While on my Masters in Spatial Planning I developed my skills in visual communication. Working in China I had to ensure strong visual communication. I learned that working through language barriers visual communication is a good tool to overcome confusion caused by verbal misunderstandings. Commercial Awareness Understanding many perspectives Since the begining of my career I have worked on behalf or developers, consultancies and state bodies and so I have a keen understanding of the various perspectives involved in the development planning process. This allows me to not only communicate effectivly but also maintain my commercial awareness. Creative Problem Solving Masters Thesis- ‘Green Infrastructure in Practice’ My research involved merging disciplines to establish a methodology for planning green infrastructure. This developed many of my problem solving skills and is now being published in an Urban Design handbook entitled Ecoresponsive Environments .
