What Is Guardianship? A ‘guardianship order’ is a legal decision made by a court or a tribunal that decides if a guardian is needed and who that guardian will be. In most jurisdictions the court or tribunal will determine what areas of a person’s life the guardian can make decisions.
When might a guardian be needed? •
Informal decision-making arrangements are proving detrimental to the best interests of the person.
