If you remember the time of a few years back, we used to have large sized computer, and now we have our computers on our palm calling it Palmtop!!  In this same way, we have elevated the form of keyboards from mechanical ones to membrane keyboard which is not only helpful but also sleek, smooth, easier, and attractive to use!!

Before digging into that part, check out their imagery difference for a better understanding:

What is membrane keyboard and how does it work? • Of course, it’s a membrane keyboard and when you type with the keys, it shows the words on your screen – that’s what a keyboard does!! But these keyboards are a bit different in their making. How? • Membrane keyboards have three flexible different layers – – Top Membrane Layer – Holes – Bottom Membrane Layers

• There’s a conductive trace under the top layer of such keyboards which is the main mechanism of it. When you will press the key, this conductive will move via the holes which will let the pressure pads go by connecting with the conducive element placed above the bottom layer.

The keys of Membrane keyboards The keys of Membrane keyboards can be either flat or dome like depending on the device it will get used for. • Flat Keys – These are printed on the body of the keyboard or switch board thus not giving any sense of physical presence. As they are a little to use for computers, they are used on washing machines, ovens, and such other devices. • Dome Keys – This type of membrane keyboards use domes on top of which letters are printed. They can either be laser-made or can be printed – the decision depends on you because ElecFlex can do it accordingly. And we can actually provide you with the best version of these keyboards with rigid-PCB (copper leads) because of high durability and reliability.
