Tipsy’s turns 10! On Saturday, March 5, you’ll want to come out for a very special celebration. Susan, Jason, and the Tipsy’s team are marking a milestone –10 years in business! They’ll be celebrating in the way they do best, with an all-day street party featuring live music by some of their favorite entertainers, fine fare, liberal libations, and lots of fun. The festivities will begin at 11:00 a.m. and $10 gets you in. Newcastle will be closed between Gloucester and Monck. Tipsy’s has been at the heart of the downtown Renaissance for a decade, providing some of the best live entertainment, planning and sponsoring special events, like PorchFest, consistently delicious casual dining, and a neighborhood bar where friends become family. Come down and show your appreciation. Pop those corks, baby!
On First Friday, March 4th, don’t miss the ribbon-cutting for the renovations at Queen Square. The official event takes place at 4:30 p.m. and will be followed by the typical live music and other family fun of First Friday.
Watch out for blue suede shoes March 10-13 when The Original Georgia Tribute Festival returns downtown for its 10th year. The festival features Las Vegas-style headline shows honoring the life and legacy of the King of Rock and Roll, a tribute artist contest, and free performances by tribute artists in the squares of Old Town. Friday and Saturday, March 11-12, the annual Peaches to the Beaches community-wide yard sale and more will be at Mary Ross Waterfront Park. Earliest set up is 6:00 a.m. and vendors will be open until 5:00 p.m. each day.
Saturday, March 12, is the 2nd Annual Silver Bluff Brewing St. Patrick’s Day 5K and Beer Mile. Get dressed in your most festive attire because prizes for best dressed runners will be awarded. There will be live music, 14 beer varieties plus hard seltzer on tap, and food all day long. 5k starts at 10 a.m., the Beer Mile begins at 1:00 p.m. Sign up for the run at runsignup.com.
On Sunday, March 13, Brunswick Actors’ Theatre hosts a very special presentation by award winning actor/writer/producer Jason Woods. He’ll be performing his new Off Broadway production of The Near Disaster of Jasper and Casper at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Jason will also be at the theatre signing his first children’s book Tinx Just Stinks and Charlie Doesn’t on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Learn more about Jason at jasonwoodsproductions.com. Powerhouse singer Katie Deal returns to The Ritz Theatre on Saturday, March 19 in “Real Deal Country with Katie Deal.” This show features classic country tunes and popular duets from the famed Nashville sound to the songs it inspired presented by Katie with a 5-piece Nashville Band. Watch for other big events at Mary Ross Waterfront Park later this year. The 84th Annual Blessing of the Fleet will take place there on Saturday, May 7. This celebration of coastal culture and cuisine features live music by Defunk, fun for kids, a cooking competition, food vendors, and the boat procession and blessing. Festivities kick off at 11:00 a.m. with boat procession at 2:00 p.m. This summer, enjoy the Old Fashioned Fourth of July celebration in the park followed by fireworks at dusk on Monday, the 4th. It’s picturesque patriotism at its finest!
