Gardens & Galas

It is certainly the season for gardens and galas. There’s yet another event combining the two in the gorgeous setting of Musgrove Retreat and Conference Center on St. Simons Island. The Memory Matters Garden Party will be held on May 12 at the Grovehouse and Gardens at Musgrove. The afternoon affair will begin with a wine tasting and preview of auction items starting at 1:00 p.m. with a live auction at 3:00 p.m. Auction items include art work, like a fantastic original watercolor by local artist Judee Brooks, jewelry, a stay at the Jekyll Island Club with breakfast and golf, and much more! Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be provided by A Moveable Feast and there will be live music by Michael Hulett. All proceeds benefit programs and activities at Memory Matters, a local non-profit that has been helping families dealing with memory issues such as Alzheimer’s Disease since 1994. Memory problems can be frightening. Whether it’s something that’s affecting you, someone you know, or someone you love, it can be difficult to know what options exist and what steps to take. The staff of Memory Matters understand this challenge and their mission is to provide support for you as you move forward on this often frustrating and confusing path. Memory Matters was founded as Alzheimer’s of Glynn/ Brunswick in 1994. In 2016, they expanded their mission to include all forms of adult onset memory impairment and renamed the organization Memory Matters. A local independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Memory Matters provides a wide variety of services to both those struggling with memory issues and their caregivers. Because support is vital for individuals who care for people with memory problems, they provide support groups, memory screenings, and individual consultation service, as well as education through workshops, printed materials, and a speakers bureau. Memory Matters also recognizes that social interaction opportunities are often diminished when there is a diagnosis of dementia and they facilitate social gatherings and activities for persons with memory problems, their caregivers, family, and friends.

Please help support the services provided by Memory Matters so they can continue to offer individuals struggling with memory issues and their caregivers the assistance and support they need. Come stroll the gardens at Musgrove and benefit a good cause.
