But there’s one that got its start right in an Assisted Living community. Tod Petty, was a 40-something Assisted Living Business Development Manager living in a 400 sq. ft. room in the community. For one year, he witnessed and experienced the best and worst senior living had to offer. He saw first-hand 56

D I F F E R E N C E how residents lived and how they were treated. Tod was struck by the lack of relevance that residents felt and it made an indelible impression on him. He saw the seniors had lost connection with friends and family, they were bored by unimaginative activities, and their lives were adrift without purpose. These observations fueled the rest of his professional accomplishments. Today, Tod is the President of Thrive Senior Living, which operates Thrive at Frederica. Beyond providing excellent care, Tod’s mission of
creating connected, active, and purposeful lives for residents drives the innovations at Thrive. Residents can stay connected to family and friends using social media and technologies like Skype. Tod replaced the ordinary activities of “Bingo and birthdays” with engaging interactive tools, such as It’s Never 2 Late software. This powerful interactive software allows seniors to create digital stories of their lives, explore the world, or stroll through the historic events they witnessed.
