TRACK CLUB SUPPORTS KGIB TRASH DASH

The Golden Isles Track Club recently donated $3500 to Keep Golden Isles Beautiful to support the group’s annual Trash Dash plogging event, in which participants pick up litter as they run, jog and walk. This donation, made possible through funds raised by GITC’s annual 4th of July Sunshine Festival race, shows GITC’s commitment to community betterment and highlights the connection between outdoor activity, exercise, and litter removal efforts.

NEW FOOD FESTIVAL COMING TO BRUNSWICK

Planning is underway for Southern Bounty - A Coastal Fresh Festival to take place April 1, 2023 at Mary Ross Waterfront Park. Proceeds from the event will benefit Forward Brunswick and Nunnally House at the Southeast Georgia Health System. There will be tasting and libation stations as well as an eclectic marketplace featuring Southern grown produce and artisan made products, live music, educational presentations, and a Service Industry Appreciation Award. Tours of downtown and our waterways will be offered, and downtown businesses will offer specials for festival ticket holders. The organizers are hard at work coordinating with businesses and are seeking sponsors and vendors for this exciting new local festival. MARKING A MILESTONE

Brunswick Mayor Cosby Johnson recently joined Board members and community supporters of St. Mark’s Towers to officially designate October 6 as St. Mark’s Towers Day in Brunswick. The HUDsubsidized residence community offering affordable housing and a recreation center for older adults celebrated its 40th anniversary with a reception for residents and guests and a ribbon cutting ceremony presented by the Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce.
