The theme of the project was to propose some of collective housing units that meet the minimum requirements of space, functionality, structure, economy and energy efficiency, through a complex intervention of urban integration, an intervention that would be able to bring a better quality of urban life. The site is located in Bucharest, in the traditional area of the city. This site of approximately 3200 sqm resulted of the union of two sites, opening to the two streets 34, Stefan Mihaileanu street and 57, Popa Soare street. It is required that the solution to contain at least 60 apartments with 1,2 ,3 or 4 rooms, the percentages being given in the theme . So we have propose a two-body collective housing complex, with various heights that depending on the height of the existing buildings in the neighborhood, to maintain the visual and urban coherence. The buildings are located in a such way that inside the site we included a private patio for the people who will live there. Each building it opens to the street, with direct access for people and also for cars. The buildings have a large two levels underground parking area. On the ground floor, there are some of commercial and relaxing spaces that make a gentle transition between the public space and the private space, most of the apartments being located from the second floor of the buildings and those on the ground floor have opening just to the private courtyard. At the facade, we opted for a system of perforated metal mobile panels to allow users to open or close their homes to the outside. This provides a dynamic and a new image of the existing space.

The theme of the project was to analyze the site - a natural reservation, and to propose a construction that takes account of the identity of the site, to capitalize on it, to increase the site representativeness and the tourist attraction, and to mark the entrance to the natural reservation . The site is located in Romania, Buzau, Muddy Volcanoes, Paclele Mici, being an important tourist destination and being unique in Romania. The construction that I propose is something that prepares the visitors, a “sequence” of entry into the natural reservation. Analyzing the volcanoes’s area and their form, the architectural object has the form of an “icy” mud bubble that offers visitors the feeling of being inside the volcano. The perforations of the ceiling provide a dynamic interior space and a game of lights and shadows. As a functions of the inside of architectural object, I have proposed an info point and a relaxing areas for the visitors.

03 | 4 STARS HOTEL | Venus, Romania | The theme of the project was to analyze and propose a 4 stars hotel near to the sea, on a place located at the entrance to the Venus resort when you come from the Saturn resort. The site has a wide opening to the sea and beach, but also direct access from the main street that connects the Black Sea resorts. With a great accessibility and wide opening to the sea, the architectural object that I proposed is focused very much on the visibility, so the orientation of all the hotel rooms and also the important public spaces of the hotel is to the sea. The architectural object offers the idea of an opening and a closing building by treating facades so differently. The east facades are very open with very large windows and glass railings that do not obstruct the view and the west facades are more opaque. The building has 9 levels, the ground floor and the mezzanine are designed for the functions of the hotel and the last 7 levels for the hotel rooms. The shape and height of the hotel ensure to the architectural object a good visibility from the street, with its short sides slightly sharpened and oriented towards the main street, thus becoming a “signal-object for the Venus resort.

The theme of the project was to analyze the existing situation of an architectural object, a historical monument, and to propose an extending of the existing construction, through an extension of existing functions, that should be integrate into the spatial, social and cultural context. The building - historical monument, located on 42 Sperantei street, in Bucharest, is an eclectic building, that has lot of exterior decorations specific to the period. It is located in the traditional area of Bucharest and has a great historical significance. Considering the architectural value and the fact that the building is on the historical monuments list, we did not intervene on the facade, the small changes was made inside the building to its partitions. The 2 floors extension of the building did’t want to compete with the existing building, but it borrows from the existing buildind the fully- empty concept of the facades. The new construction, wich is above the building is slightly retracted with a rhythm of the facade, similar to the existing building. As a function, we chose to transform the building into an architectural office, placing at the last two levels spaces for conferences and thematic workshops

The theme of the project was to analyze an industrial abandoned buildings area, but with a great potential for reuse the spaces of these buildings, to develop cultural functions. The site is located in the former Cotton Industry on Splaiul Unirii street, near the Timpuri Noi metro station in Bucharest . Our intervention consisted in keeping and demolishing some of the existing buildings to create an unitary and coherent architectural space. In our project you can see many of cultural functions that are opening to a large interior courtyard, an important element that connect all of those cultural functions. The most important piece of the project is the theater, which is an essential function in our project. The theater is connected to a theater school with a large space for exposure where people can participate at various cultural workshops and events. We wanted, by our interventions, to create a cultural pole for the area, to gather people and to give them opportunities to develop their artistic and cultural sides. In accord with the new features, it will bring a great flow of people, which is why we created a 4-level spacious parking area on the site, which will be able to decongests traffic and the crowd of cars. On the terrace of the parking building , we placed a solar panels system in order to produce energy in a sustainable way.

06 | SPECIAL STRUCTURES | The theme of the project was to propose a lightweight structure that can have different functions. At the same time, the theme wants from the student to study and to understand these special structures, but also how they can generate different emotional moods to its users, through the aesthetics and expressiveness of the structure . The study with 3d models was very important for elaborating and understanding the structural principle. I have proposed an urban object with the role of a relaxing covered space, that can be placed in parks or in public squeres that need a new esthetic . The structure that I used it’s called “waffle structure” and an important source of inspiration was the Metropol Parasol in Seville, Spain. The wooden object created by me, has square shape and it has a single point of support, but by the inclination and the resulting shape, it manages to stand by its own weight and gravity.

The project site is located in the north of Bucharest city, near to the Promenada Mall. It is located in the bussiness area of Bucharest (Aurel Vlaicu area), quite crowded, with access to a main street Calea Floreasca, and the Glucose Factory street, which connects with another main street, the Barbu Vacarescu street. The site has an opening to Lake Tei, which offers the possibility of a specific natural landscaping. The surface of the site is approximately 30,000 square meters and the theme of the project is to create a multifunctional sports hall with a capacity of 4,000 seats, having as a main activity the sports competitions, offering the possibility of having other types of activities. The has a really good accessibility for the cars and also for the pedestrian. The area is near from the Aurel Vlaicu metro station, the bus and tram stations, resulting an important flow of people to the site from the Calea Floreasca Street, that will generate a lot o solution to resolve this project.
07 | SPECIAL STRUCTURES | SPORT HALL | 4000 seats | The architectural object hat I proposed has 4 floors, with two of them under the ground. In the basement -2 are the technical spaces that serve the entire construction, but also a large parking area for the spectators, making possible the connection with the access zone through the corresponding traffic nodes. Basement -1 has the area dedicated to athletes with all the facilities, but also technical and staff spaces; from this floor, players are vhaving direct access to the pitch. The ground floor is exclusive to spectators, but here we can find the necessary spaces for vip, being protected from the flow of spectators. The ground floor connects to the next floor which also has access to the play hall and it has a small restaurant offering a view to the promenade of the Lake Tei. Structurally, the building has two structures, one supporting the entire hall, the gradients, and the other supporting the all building, a tridimensional structure, with reinforced concrete pillars, which it connects through a contour beam the structure of the facade. The facade of the edifice is made up of a translucent glass, with a play of directly visible or hidden areas, losing in the blue of the sky.

08 | 14TH EDITION OF MULTICOMFORT HOUSE STUDENTS CONTEST | ISOVER | | Dubai, United Arab Emirates | | team : Elena Gheorghita, Iulia Tuiu | | 5th year of study | | second semester | | May 2018 |
08 | 14TH EDITION OF MULTICOMFORT HOUSE STUDENTS CONTEST | ISOVER | Dubai Oasis | The theme of the contest was to create a residential housing complex in Dubai, close to the sea, due to the external climate factors of the city of Dubai. For the design of the residential housing complex developed under the theme for the Isover Contest, we analyzed the extreme climate that characterizes the Dubai city and tried to find solutions that should resolve those problems. So we proposed a residential housing complex consisting of 7 towers that have the advantages of the site and the great opening to the water. The 7 residential towers contain 2, 3 and 4 rooms apartments that are opened on the all sides, contributing to the natural ventilation inside the apartaments. Near to the water area (S-SE) we have designed public squares , commercial and promenade spaces (restaurant, coffee shops, commercial spaces, etc.), which have covered paths with perforated panels that filter the light, and these spaces are so furnished to encourage pedestrian traffic. The green areas and water mirrors are positioned on these routes helping to maintain a pleasant temperatures and humidity in the covered areas (with perforated panels) and improve the air quality. The apartments blocks are positioned by considerig the direction of the dominant air currents and the study of the sun that we have made.

09 | FUTURE CHALLENGES | ESPLANADA | PHILHARMONIC | Bucharest, Romania The theme of the project was to propose a set of buildings with multiple functions in a very large space. The site is located in the central area of Bucharest, on the Unirii Boulevard near the National Library. A very important area with a great flow of people and tourists. The project brings it from the housing function to the cultural functions (museum, philharmonic), generating different relationships between these functions. The project of the philharmonic on the site is an element that has also a local and a national importance, so it is located near to the National Library and the “Ion Dacian” operetta. The architectural object consists in a large concert hall with 1,800 seats, a small concert hall for 400 spectators and the area where are the other functions which are indispensable to a philharmonic, which contains spaces for artists and for staff. Besides the 3 important volumes, the Philharmonic also have an underground parking area for spctators. Although the two important buildings appear to be two separate halls, but they are united by a volume of glass that continues the curves of the facades. This volume has a caffé lounge for the spectators. The curved and tilted facade are made by a translucent glass which creates a voluptuous vibration, dynamic spaces and also a play of full and empty areas, light and shadow, an architectural musicality.
