The new building will host 2,400 students. "This is like opening day for the Reds for us," said Scott Spicher of the West Clermont school district. "This is opening day for our students. All of our students coming back district-wide, but of course, it's special here because we have two brand new buildings." Upon walking into the new building, students are greeted by a giant hallway known as Main Street. Main Street not only serves as an efficient way to move students throughout the building, it also serves as an homage to the history of the schools that formed West Clermont, Amelia and Glen Este. "We want to make sure we recognize our past, honor our traditions, but also look forward to our future as well," Spicher said. The school also has a massive, state-of-the-art cafeteria that will seat 600 students at a time. Connected to the cafeteria is the school's spirit shop that will be run by students. There's also a federal credit union that will be run by students. "There are a lot of real-world opportunities here for our students at West Clermont," Spicher said. Another major focal point of the new school is the gymnasium, known as The Wolves Den. In addition to having a second auxiliary gym, The Wolves Den will hold the entire student body. "Not only can we have athletic competitions in here, we can have building-wide assemblies as well," said Spicher. While classes just started on Wednesday, the West Clermont Wolves football team won its first game last Friday. The Wolves beat Princeton 28-13.
