Director of Bandanna Energy Michael Gray speaks at Gladstone Engineering Alliance Major Industry Conference presented by Golding Gladstone Engineering Alliance Major Industry Conference presented by Golding Speaker and Director of Bandanna Energy, Michael Gray was interviewed by the Gladstone Observer in regards to the conference on October 23rd, 2013. Source: http://www.gladstoneobserver.com.au/news/bandanna-energy-boss-speaks-gea-conference/2060052/

A MINE at Springsure Creek is positioned to become Australia’s next major thermal coal project despite current tough coal markets, providing more jobs for the Gladstone region. Bandanna Energy managing director Michael Gray, in Gladstone for the Golding conference, said because of its size and high coal quality, location close to existing infrastructure, contracted port and rail capacity, competitive cost structure and advanced approvals, the mine was positioned well for the future. Bandanna Energy is a 14% shareholder in the Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal (WICET), and Mr Gray will be one of the speakers at the Gladstone Engineering Alliance’s Golding Major Industry Conference this week. The Observer has asked the man behind Australia’s next coal producer what his thoughts are on Gladstone, coal and WICET. Q - What are your major topics of discussion at this year’s event? I am keen to discuss progress of development of our Springsure Creek Coal project. In particular, I’m to address some of the key challenges impacting on project development and also focus on what we see has substantial long-term demand for high-quality cost-competitive coal in key Asian markets. Bandanna is the second-largest shareholder in the Wiggins Island Coal Terminal and with the continued progress of construction of that project, we are focused on bringing Springsure Creek into development over the next two years to utilise the new port and rail capacity.

Q - What does it mean to your company to be involved in the 10-year event? I am pleased to be involved in the milestone event and the involvement of Bandanna perhaps highlights the milestones that the company has achieved as it progresses from being a small coal explorer to becoming a shareholder in Wiggins Island and now transitioning toward becoming Australia’s next coal producer. Q - What messages are you trying to get across? That despite current tough coal markets, there remains substantial growth in demand in North Asia, Southeast Asia and South Asia over the medium and long term. That demand provides substantial opportunity to the Queensland industry. Also, Springsure Creek, due to its size and high coal quality, location close to existing infrastructure, contracted port and rail capacity, competitive cost structure and advanced approvals, is positioned to become Australia’s next major thermal coal project. Q - Is your company bringing jobs to the region? The project will involve 380 direct full-time and 560 flow-on jobs in 2015. When fully operational the project will employ more than 580 full-time employees. Q - What sort of production are you looking at to go through the Gladstone Port? We have a 4Mtpa contract for export through Gladstone. We do have plans for expansion of the project to ultimately more than 11Mtpa and hope to obtain additional capacity at Wiggins over the long term. 4

Project Update Springsure Creek coal mine plan gets environmental nod By Paul Robinson and Emilie Gramenz Updated Mon 11 Nov 2013 The State Government has approved the environmental impact statement for the controversial Springsure Creek mine coal project, south-west of Rockhampton, in central Queensland. Bandanna Energy wants to develop the Springsure Creek mine in an area declared prime agricultural land. The Department of Environment and Heritage Protection has issued a report saying the project is considered suitable to proceed to the next stage of approval. The company now needs to submit an environment management plan. Bandanna Energy managing director Michael Gray says

the company hopes to be able to start production at Springsure Creek in mid-2015. Mr Gray says the company will now prepare an environmental management plan. “The environmental management plan is actually a key working document, which includes all the key strategies that we need to undertake on a day-by-day basis,” he said. “Then as part of that, the environmental licence and the environmental authority is the key document that we get measured against, and that includes specific conditions about noise levels, water monitoring, all those sort of key activities that are required.” Source: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-11-11/springsurecreek-coal-mine-plan-gets-environmental-nod/5082686

Safety Moment - Freo (Global Cranes) Know your spotter responsibilities The 7 Fundamentals of being a spotter 1. Planning • Plan a safe access path for the vehicle. • Where a third party spotter is being used, take extra time to ensure the planned task is understood. 2. Communication • Use clear hand signals that are understood by both the operator and the spotter. • Where vision between a spotter and operator may be obscured, have radio communication in place. • If there is any doubt or confusion, stop the job and re-assess the task. 3. Understand the equipment • Various vehicles and mobile plant can have different types of steering, meaning possible movement in ALL directions. • Always understand and discuss vehicle movements unique to the vehicle. 4. Reversing • Spotters should accompany all reversing vehicles, unless a documented risk assessment tool determines otherwise. • Do not reverse any vehicle unless there is a clear view or a spotter is directing you. 5. Positioning

5

• As a spotter, stay to the side of the vehicle, out of its movement path and in full view of the operator. • When the vehicle is moving, maintain direct line of sight with the operator at all times. • When clearances cannot be visually maintained on all sides of the vehicle, use an additional spotter. 6. Barricading and traffic management • Use physical barriers and no-go zones to separate other people, vehicles and equipment from vehicle movements • Keep pedestrians and other vehicles out of the planned access path of the vehicle as it moves. 7. Stop Authority • Spotters have the authority to immediately stop all vehicle movements to prevent injuries or accidents.
