Filled with family mementoes and favourite books, the library in the home of Windsor, Ont., decorator Mable Cheung is where she and her family read, relax and make memories to last a lifetime.

Children’s Corner

The bottom shelf of the library features books Mable and her husband Bogdan loved as kids, as well as a set of children’s encyclopedias purchased volume by volume by Bogdan’s mother when he was little. All are within reach of Elliana and Nikolai, who – at 7 and 5 respectively – are already avid readers. A reading lamp, side table and sofa with a cozy blanket are just right for curling up with a book.

Memory Lane

The gallery wall opposite the bookshelves contains a trove of memories: a credenza like the one in Mable’s childhood home, under a collage of framed maps and favourite photos of the couple’s travels (along with a Pop-Art graphic of their wedding date). The organic, Mobius-like brass sculpture and circular vase add a rhythmic counterpoint to the rectilinear shapes of books, frames and the family chess set.
