You will need

● Cotton cushion cover ● Pencil ● Template ● Black fabric paint ● Fine paintbrush ● Iron-on foil ● Iron ● Tea towel

Top tip

Place some sheets of newspaper inside the cushion cover to act as a barrier so that the paint doesn’t seep through to the back.

1and print the face template on plain paper. Carefully cut out the different elements of the face. Next, position the template pieces on

2the cushion cover, using the picture above as a guide, and draw around each part with a pencil.

Paint the abstract face design using

3a fine paintbrush and black fabric paint, and leave to completely dry. Use the template to cut out a pair of

4lips in pink iron-on foil. Set the iron to a cool setting with the steam off and place the lips on the cushion cover. Lay a tea towel on top and gently iron over for a few minutes until the foil has bonded to the fabric.

Remove the tea towel and allow to

5cool before peeling off the top carrier layer of the foil. Pop the cover onto a cushion inner to finish.
