History
Etching Etching is the process of using strong acid or mordant to cut into the unprotected parts of a metal.
In pure etching a metal plate is covered with a waxy ground. The artist then scratches off the ground with a pointed etching needle where he wants a line to appear in the finished piece, so exposing the bare metal.
Collagraphy Collagraphy is a printmaking process in with materials are applied to a rigid substrate (such as paperboard of wood).
Monoprint Monoprinting is a form of printmaking that has images or lines that can be only made once, unlike most printmaking, where there are multiple originals. There are many techniques of monoprinting.
Steve Robson Stephen studied Fine Art at Goldsmith’s College and became
interested in photography there. He was a photographer in recent years but he has made a return to drawing and painting and studied printmaking. He joined Greenwich Printmakers in 2010, having produced a series of prints of the Thames at Greenwich. He also works in Norfolk.
The reasons why I chose this images are because I like the composition in all of them. I like the faded colors and how he put them. Two of them are with a lot of details and that’s why I chose them.

These artist are using principally colors in their work. Steve Robson’s works are more black and white. That is the difference between them.
Sue Brown
Rust Printmaking
Sue Brown Sue Brown has been a professional artist for 15 years. Her work is
inspired by nature and been driven by exploring intaglio printmaking techniques. Sue has specialised in collagraph techniques. She is experimenting with enamel application, combining digital and screen printed transfers.
I have chosen these pictures because I like the way she uses the rust to
make an amazing effect. She is really good at drawing. I can see that in her etching. I like the composition in all of her prints. She’s not using much colors but the ones she is using are very good.
In my prints I have used rust as well. I think they link to Sue Brown’s work. I have done etching and monoprinting. I like the effect of the colors that I’ve put in my work, but they are not much.
I think that with her work she is trying to say that we can make lots of amazing and pretty things with nature. Nature is a good inspiration.
