Lexington Chamber Chorale Gary L. Anderson, Conducting Gospel Mass (1981) Robert Ray with David Holden, percussion V. Sanctus Holy, holy, Lord God of hosts. Hosanna be to Thee in the highest who gave me victory. There was a man sitting by the roadside; he was blind, he could not see. Then the Master of the earth and skies touched his eyes and he looked around saying: Holy, holy Lord God of hosts. Another man lay by the poolside; thirty-eight years with his infirmity. Then the Lord troubled the wter; the man arose and he said: Holy, holy Lord God of hosts. Hosanna be to Thee in the highest who gave me victory. He, who comes in the name of the Lord, we will always sing, always sing Thy praise. Like the blind man and the lame man, I was lost, living in sin. Then I opened up my heart one day, I let the Savior in. Now I shout, saying: Holy, holy Lord God of hosts. VI. Agnus Dei Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. For You came to die for me, suffered, bled, and died on Calvary. In Your word You showed us how, we are trying, Lord, hear our prayer right now. Lamb of God who takes away he sins of the world, grant us Thy peace. Amen. Ain’a That Good News (1937) William Dawson I got a crown up ina the kingdom, ain’a that good news. I’m goin’ to lay down this world, goin’a shoulder up my cross, goin’a take it home to my Jesus, ain’a that good news. I got a harp up ina the kingdom, ain’a that good news. I’m goin’ to lay down this world, goin’a shoulder up my cross, goin’a take it home to my Jesus, ain’a that good news. I got a robe up ina the kingdom, ain’a that good news. I’m goin’ to lay down this world, goin’a shoulder up my cross, goin’a take it home to my Jesus, ain’a that good news. I got a Savior ina the kingdom, ain’a that good news, I’m goin’ to lay down this world, goin’a shoulder up my cross, goin’a take it home to my Jesus, ain’a that good news.

Everyone Sang (2020) Kile Smith Words by Siegfied Sasson, written during the 1918 influenza Pandemic Everyone suddenly burst out singing; and I was filled with such delight as prisoned birds must find in freedom, winging wildly across the wide orchards and dark green fields; on and out of sight. Everyone’s voice was suddenly lifted; and beauty came like the setting sun. My heart was shaken with tears; and horror drifted away. O, but everyone was a bird; and the song was wordless. The singing will never be done. with Ms. White, Ms. Prewitt, Ms. Oberloh, Mr. Simmons Sing Gently (2020) Words and Music by Eric Whitacre Written during the COVID-19 Pandemic May we sing together, always, may our voice be soft. May our singing be music for others and may it keep others aloft. Sing, gently, always, sing as one. May we stand together, always be strong, may we hear the singing and may we always sing along. Kentucky State University Choir Lloyd Mallory, Conducting (Please see separate program.) Lexington Chamber Chorale Gary L. Anderson, Conducting Psalm of Life (2011) Craig Hella Johnson Words by Mattie J.T. Stepanek Refrain: Echo of understanding, silhouette of courage, reflection of knowledge, Oh, sighing breath of wisdom, spirit of life. I live in the shadow of doubt, I dwell in the dark of unknown, I wonder and wander in mere mortal moments, my soul seeking solace and peace. Refrain. I pray for the world in such need, I yearn for a world with real peace, I praise and give thanks in the hope of tomorrows, beyond days of my moments on earth. Refrain.

Imagine (1971) Words and Music by John Lennon Imagine there’s no heaven. It’s easy if you try. No hell below us, above us only sky. Imagine all the people living for today. Imagine there’s no countries. It isn’t hard to do. Nothing to kill or die for, and no religion too. Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us, and the world will be one. Imagine no possession. I wonder if you can. No need for greed or hunger. A brotherhood of man. Imagine all the people sharing all the world. You may say I’m a dreamer but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us and the world will live as one. Combined Choirs We Walk in Love (2017) Deanna Witkowski Words by Deanna Witkowski & Lemuel Colon We walk in love, united in purpose. We join our hands and lift up one voice. We speak the truth with strength and compassion, resounding with hope, with courage and joy. We cry for peace and rights for all people. We welcome friends from far and near. We fight for those whose voices are silenced, resisting in faith until all are free. We dream a world of justice and kindness. We build a bridge creating new paths. We march with joy as all walk together. Embracing each one, we boldly stand.

Woven Together (2013) BEACH SPRING, Words and arr. Jacob J. Narverud Vs. 1 As we gather here together, may we cast out all our fears, rest our minds and ease our worries, open now our eyes and ears. Vs. 2 As we wander through this wide world, may we find our dreams from youth. Always working, ever searching for life’s meaning and for truth, Give us passion, give us patience, give us dignity and grace. Give us hope and understanding as we journey through this place. Vs. 3 Through the seasons, through the changes, please allow us to be calm. Through the torments and the struggles, may we find out strength in song. In the autumn, in the winter, in the summer, and the spring, may we see the beauty ‘round us and allow our hearts to sing. Vs. 4 May our sisters and our brothers feel their purpose and their worth. May our fathers and our mothers know the love we share in birth. May we hold this bond forever, placing diff’rences aside, knowing that our days are numbered, so in peace we must abide. EVERYONE SING VERSE FIVE Let us join as one, together, now in thankfulness and praise, as we count the many blessings woven into all our days. We are willing, we are able, we are hopeful, we are strong. May we know the ground we’re standing on is the ground where we belong. Vs. 6 In the moment of my final breath, let me yearn for nothing more. Filled with laughter, filled with mem’ries, reaching for the farther shore. I will sing a song of triumph, having lived a life that’s free, joining hands with those before me, then, for all eternity.
