Line-X (714) 850-1370 2550 South Garnsey St. Irvine, Ca 92856 www.linex.com Line-X, one of the leading spray in place polyurethane surface coating technologies, introduces its first ecologically safe product that is guaranteed for life, said J.B. Burtin. This new product is used to protect surfaces in both indoor and outdoor industries. After five years in development, Line-X will release Formula-CIF on Oct. 1. FormulaCIF bonds and conforms to any surface increasing the service life and deteriorating effects of the sun’s ultraviolet rays. It can be applied to holding bins, trucker trailer beds, equipment operator areas, steps and walkways. Formula-CIF is the first of a full line of ecologically safe products, said Burtin. It is guaranteed for life, it can seal a surface with a thickness of 1/8th to a quarter inch, and it is a spray-in-place polyurethane elastomer material. The coating will move with the surface through heat and cold. It can be formulated for a smooth surface, a textured surface, a rigid surface for extra strength, or a high temp protection of up to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, said Burtin. Formula-CIF inhibits corrosion, it will not break, it resists load slippage, and it improves footing even when wet, reducing employee time loss due to injuries. Formula-CIF also protects against most acids, caustics, and solvents and protects cargo from damage. It dries in less than
five seconds, allowing overhead application, said Burtin. Formula-CIF will be available from any of the 435 licensed Line-X dealerships across the country for $10 for square foot. Two chemical coating compounds are mixed together at the tip of the line-x applicator spray gun at 140 degrees Fahrenheit, at a pressure of between 1500 and 2000 PSI. Chapman University (714) 997-6815 1 University Drive Orange, CA 92866 Veston Rowe is a professor at Chapman University. He was featured in People magazine in 2008, and has won over 120 awards as a member of publications teams at Philips University and Chapman University. A longtime friend, whom he had met in high school, triggered Rowe’s move to California and his 23-year career at Chapman. Rowe came as a publications coordinator for admissions, and only a year later became director of publications and creative services. Rowe now teaches two sections of Writing for Public Relations, Internet Communication, and Publishing on the iPad at Chapman and, he says, students are his favorite part of teaching. “I want to challenge my students but I don’t want to crush them, I want to have high standards and I want them to meet those standards,” said Rowe. In November 2008, Rowe was featured in People magazine’s “Heroes in Hard Times.” His best friend, Sparker Mejia and his family lost their home to foreclosure. “I had two empty bedrooms and a stove that needed dusting,” said Rowe. He took his best friend, his wife Rosie, their three children, Victoria, 11, Joao, 9, and Ares, 4, two dogs, two ferrets, and many other small pets. Although the transition was difficult, they continue to live with him. He has grown fond of the children and says, “Ares is my best buddy.” Being a third parent to these children is the latest of the many odd jobs he has had, including stand up comedy and wedding singing but realized he has a passion for writing. Rowe discovered his passion for writing as a sophomore in college at Phillips University in his
hometown, Enid, Okla. where he got a B.S. degree in mass communications with honors in 1979. He wrote an investigative reporting that caught the eye of the director of public relations and was offered an internship. Rowe then completed a two-year program in 12 months and got an M.A. degree in journalism with honors at the University of Oklahoma in 1980. Months after graduating, Rowe has offered a job as the assistant dDirector of publications at Phillips University and later became director of public relations and publications before he was offered a job, at his now home, Orange County.
Chapman University (714) 997-6815 1 University Drive Orange, CA 92866 Just like her husband Zac Efron, Michele Patricia Ebrahimian, appreciates theater. Yet, unlike her husband, Ebrahimian took her theater experience and became a lawyer. “Law has allowed me to use my dramatic ability,” said Ebrahimian. “A lot of what lawyers do is acting.“ She has found a career where she can practice law while being close to theater as an entertainment lawyer for NBC in New York. She lives in New York City’s Upper East Side with Efron and their four children Eloise, 15, Brett, 13, Avery, 11, Michael, 9 and their dog Rupert. “I love children,” says Ebrahimian, which is why she started a community theater for underprivileged children. Famous actors like Sutton Foster make appearances to teach acting classes and help raise money for charities. Ebrahimian grew up with musical theater in Santa Cruz, Calif. and first entered Chapman University as a theater major. Realizing that she needed a more stable profession, Ebrahimian changed her course and received a communications degree with a double minor in public relations and education. Ebrahimian’s mother helped set a stepping-stone towards her career in law. Her mother Suzanne, had a friend who became a lawyer after being a theater major. That event sparked her interest in law. While pursuing a law degree at Columbia University, Ebrahimian had a prominent internship with an entertainment law firm and has been practicing law ever since.

Carpenter University 1 University Dr. Shawnee, Texas As a result of a $60 million judgment in civil court, Carpenter University has taken the step to solve financial grounds by declaring financial exigency on Monday. Financial exigency will allow the university to use endowment funds, lay off tenured faculty members, and cut programs said Lila Wagner, university president. The civil lawsuit was a result of the loss caused by the residence hall fire in 2009. In response to the ruling, the university will cut five tenured faculty members, 5 percent of the staff, two athletic programs, and five majors. All salaries will be frozen and hiring will be closed, said? The university and the board of trustees have created a five-year plan for the institution to return to solvency, said chairman of the board of trustees Leonard Wolfe. The admissions office plans to increase enrollment and tuition next fall to increase revenue and financial aid will continue to be offered to those who qualify. The direction of capital campaign initially focused on raising funds for two new building, will now raise funds to replenish the endowment. “We understand the impact it will have on faculty and students but financial exigency was a necessary step to ensure the viability of Carpenter University, said Wagner.
