7 CULTURE CURVE

seoul doesn’t lack the historical background, but what it lacks is the avenue which the past can be delivered to the millions of residents. this project was a reinterpretation of the traditional form into a modern one. it’s a narrow lot with store front on the ground level and residential units above.

inspired by the traditional curvature of korean historical architecture, this modern reinterpretation is supposed to be familiar to the crowd.

13 RIGHT OF PASSAGE

the town of south bend is a reviving town. however, the lack of stylistic identity, and the modicum of urbanistic factors have slowed the process of growth. in order to respark the ongoing growth, we were tasked with a large scale project. our site is roughly 125,000 sqft, and we were required to design over 300,000 sqft. a multi-use commercial and residential complex were to be created.

THE WOODEN LAMP

the severity to wich education is emphasized in korea is not matched when it comes to the spaces in which education occurs. classrooms lack most basic needs, such as fresh air and day lighting. Mr. Shin, the client an educator and my father, contacted me to see if I could come up with some sort of architectural solution to create a more creative environment for education.

communication initiation # 10/17 - 12/17 # benton harbor, MI # 3rd year (place making studio)

COMMUNICATION INITIATION

the town of benton harbor and st.joseph are juxtaposed next to each other geographically. however, economically, they represent the both ends of spectrum. in order to mend the pain derived from the dichotomy, I was given the task to come up with a solution.

this perspective depicts the view of the main entrnace to the diversity center with the gargantuan column that offers two options of entry. one entrance widens as it goes, the other one stays the same. this entry way represents the two polarizing situations of that differenct races face in real life.

process works

process works are important because they represent the idea you started out with. I keep all my process works and look back on them frequently like I do with my premise..

49 SKETCHES

of all the skills I’ve acquired during my time in school, the ability to draw with my hand has got to be the most valuable. sketch is where design begins. sketch is how I communicate. I’ve selected some of my best drawings to showcase my skill.
