How well do we know the city we live in? To what extent and form does it exist for us?
This research can be seen as an experiment in the possibilities of a tool in the context of participatory design, and aims to comprehend the multiplicity of spatial perceptions through the graphic and cognitive tool of the mind map.
During the first workshop, scholars from the Oskar von Miller Forum were asked to depict their image of Munich. The result was a collection of 45 maps that, despite sharing the same urban environment, demonstrate the subjective nature of spatial perception. The maps serve as a means of conveying various perspectives, with each individual narrative contributing a personal viewpoint to the collective comprehension of the city.
The exhibition aims to initiate a dialogue with both participants of the workshop and visitors to discuss the outcomes of the research, as well as to compare the collection of maps with collective maps pieces drawn in a second workshop during the exhibition.
