JHON PAWSON’S HOUSE ANALYSIS What to analyse from the father of Minimalism’s house, is more that how much you can think. Starting from the objective to re-create an art environment that should make the user feel as in Pawson’s house, the analisys went on by focusing on the lines that composed this building. The perspective asset is one of the most interesting architectural aspects to develop in a future environment: the pure lines and the lack of decorations let the light to completely change how the house looks, and the user will be inspired to discover every space of it. Materials and colours are also a foundamental component of the result of this project.

ARCHITECTURAL EXPERIENCE The out-put of these studies is an environment built on the idea of forced perspective. The user is attracted to enter in the unique door and to follow the corridor that apparently is very long, but in the reality becames smaller and smaller closing to the end. Here the exit and a contemplating area. Materials and lights are foundamental.

SCARPA’S ABATELLIS PALACE SPACE ANALYSIS Explore this Scarpa’s museum in every detail is an opportunity to understand this criptical character and his intelligence in giving to museum spaces a new meaning. The work shown in this pages is a summary of the researches done on Palazzo Abatellis, Sicilia; they were focused on the different aspects hidden between the original building and Scarpa’s setup. On the left and in this page there are few of the out-puts coming from the study of shapes and materials (existent or new), colours, disposition of the space.

The second part of the analysis was about the space itself and how it was developed By Scarpa. Misuring the space, the walls, the windows and the equipment realised inside, helps to understand what are the rules that Scarpa used.

FUTURHOSTEL The aim: to give a new life to an old tractor factory in MIlan, to make a space where people can feel wellcome and spend a little. This hostel was designed thinking about the Expo and all the events that attract many people from all around the world, with a specific interest in greet the customers in a flexible and cheap environment, contrary to the common hotels in Milan. The red line that connects every space is the Futurism Moviment, as a theme well related with the reality of milanese factories in the early 1900, such as this particular one. Futurism is also the a power that had driven italian interest in innovation and revolution, that characterizes the continuous stream of research of the italian traditional design approach. From these considerations the name “Futurostel. The entire building is dived in three main levels: the ground floor contains the cheapest double rooms, mainly indicated for students and people, that stops for few days. The first floor is the common area, with a lounge bar, a big restourant and a conference room with flexible access to the relax area of the bar; customers will arrive through the wide ramp used by tractors. The second floor is a real in-door discrit composed by small apartaments and a gym. Each space has specific designed fornitures. 25

5x5x5 HOUSE Situated in New York CIty, this building hosts an apartament composed of two cubes: one for the garden and one for the house. Both have a side of five meters, plus a loft of 5x2,5 meters. The project is user-centred designed and follows the idea of trasformability and hospitality of the two ipotetical clients: travellers. Materials and clours are based on the reference of India and the small spaces appears larger thanks to the wide glass walls. Bris-soleil are used to give them a layout and to protect privacy in the lower floor.
41
42
The wardrobes are luggage suspended in the air, so that they don’t occupy space of the loft floor.
43
44
Glass is used to feel the space more luminescent and comfortable. There are’nt opaque walls or divisions.

URBAN INTERIORS

RE-BOUND Zamagna Street, in the San Siro area of Milan, has been an ideal empty page on which we could have sketched shapes, printed colours and ideas in order to generate new behaviour in such an unused space, despite its great resources and potential. Three layers of planning give rise to an elegant, graceful and airy structure that occupies the whole Zamagna street. A forest of thiny white poles supports a system of elastic and wavy canopy. The first ones delimit areas of new and unconventional activities (such as antigravity yoga and slacklining); the second ones, made of a transparent plastic material, draw a complex system of full and empty ceiling, coloured shadow and lights. The hues are the tipical ones of this urban context, but they has been modified and enriched with vibrancy and saturation. As the meaning of the title suggests, “Rebound project has the ambition to recover the area of San Siro and overall its citizen with the universal language of the sport and the expression of the body.

RE-BOUND OUTBREAK Re-Bound Outbreak is an urban forniture coming from the previus project Re-Bound. Taking in consideration the idea of moviment and to let people expressing themselves by their body, this project has the objective to cover some not used spaces in the city. A particular interest is focused on that spaces of transit, where people stop for few minutes waiting for a trasport or for something that will happen. The areas created by Re-Bound Outbreak are environments where people can move or stay without particular rules but at the contrary interpretating the tools in a as personal as possible way. Re-Bound Outbreak is composed by three main elements that can be metched thanks to a modular base: a pole, a ground platform and bends that link the other two elements togheter. At the ground, a wood cover delimitates the playing area and creates a stage. The next pages will show the main areas in which the project should be positionated and the functions it should supply.

Thanks to this system of bends it is possible to create different areas, depending on the functions requested. Starting from right, we have a roof that is able to connect the istallation to all the elements of the city. The second is a vertical wall to relax the body for few seconds. The tird area is a real chair and the last one shelter for adult and children!

SERVICEs

SHUFFLEAT “Shuffleat” is a service in wich the user can schedule his lunch break on appointments and preferences, in order to satisfy them in a very alternative experience: new friends, like in a random game. The whole project was developed starting from an activity of minmapping around the theme of the food consumption and the EXPO, and following the analysis of facts, adjectives and opportunities (FAO map). After the identification of three Visions, coming from the prevoìious maps, the projects went on by choosing the most suitable vision, its analysis trought case studies and a final Position Map. Four Scenarios came out from the quadrants of the Positioning Map, bu tonly one was selected and depemed thans to personas, trand analysis and other case studies. Finally the Concept was developed defining aims and goals, a Product Service System map, a Storyboard, a map of Touchpoints and the layout of the app. To conlcude the project: a SWOT analysis, a list of potentialities and some future steps. A booklet explains all these maps and the whole project.

MOODMAKER This project was realized for the contest “Thinfilm Solar Power Product Global Innovation”, launched by Hanergy. In a team of three people it was designed a product-service system meant to be used in SPAs, in order to improve users’ experience in the outdoors. The product is a vertical lamp made of optic-fiber textile, thats changes colors and plays music thank to a speaker hidden inside. A solar panel located on the top of the lamp makes it self-sufficent, and so movable in every outdoor spaces, following the specific needs of the SPA. MoodMaker doesn’t only bring the experience of chromoteraphy also in the outdoors; the main idea of this project is that MoodMaker combines coloured lights and sounds to change the sensations of the user to a better mood and to let him customize the experience. User can easily controll MoodMaker through a remote controller that feels human movements. The service provides an APP that collects datas from MoodMaker and moves them to user’s device. When the user comes back home, he can replace the daily SPA’s atmosphere recordered on the APP by himself, or share it on social networks. In addition, users can evaluate the usage experience through both social networks and websites. The team of suppliers that manage the service checks the feedbacks and provide upto-date packs to the SPA. 73
