The area is located at the junction of Egnatia streets and 3rd September. Access to the building is done by the northwestern and the northeastern part of the plot where there is intense traffic flow that will be enhanced by operation of the subway. Exit of the subway is designed at the northeast part of the plot, reinforcing the public character of that part. The southern part of it plot has a higher degree of isolation than the north while it mainly serves the users of the building. To achieve that, we propose to convert Lambraki street to a shared space with a parking area in the northwest of the plot.
The placement of the building was decided based on the mapping of the flows in the topography, of the pre-existing buildings and the motions within it. From this analysis a network of curved and linear engravings is created and the proposal is gradually developping. The educational program we propose is characterized by the direct co-operation of students and professors within a single workplace which, however, has different stages of privacy. This function of the faculty emerged from the form and organization of the space while at the same time itself shaped the space. That’s why we think our architecture school is the result of the co-modulation of the educational program and its architectural form.
Fragments of space penetrate the one in the other, they connect, they are linked and create different levels. They serve different needs and functions while they manage to form a single set. This logic governs in the whole composition, in every part and every scale.
