In this edition of Tile Today, we look at what is important to tile installers and the future of apprentice tilers that are coming through the TAFE system.

Our latest initiative is the Waterproofing Guide, available in this issue and on the Tile Today website, is designed to make it easy for tile installers, builders and architects to choose the most suitable products for their projects.

As a digital publication with an active website, Tile Today can improve the way professional end users access product information needed for a particular job from a range of suppliers. To see how it works, just click on the image or go to the following link tiletodaydigital.com.au/waterproofing

In terms of tile trends, we feature key developments in bathroom designs after-COVID and what is influencing homeowners. We also highlight the commercial sector with an apartment and retail development featuring shower drainage channels made by Allproof Industries.

We also welcome Jeff Kirkley as the new president of the Australian Tile Council who is helping to roll out an online resource that will directly benefit retail members.

We hope you have been receiving the additional content in our new e-newsletters. Some of the stories you may have missed are listed on page 65.

Founder Manlio Mattoli established Mattoli in 1923 as a small workshop producing street furniture such as benches, lighting poles and fountains. His sons, Giuseppe and Antonio, took over in 1950.

A new era began in 1999 when Antonio’s children, Manlio, Massimiliano and Marta, entered the business. In 2011, Mattoli set up an export sales department to grow its international markets.

Mattoli’s terrazzo tiles are genuinely environmentally friendly, because cements and sands used in the mixture are sourced through recycling. The marble chips and marble powders come from marble block waste.
