Past and Present by: Elizabeth Grant
My grandmother died just two years ago. Upon her death, my mother, sister, and I did some digging in her home and uncovered large boxes of old photographs ranging throughout her life and beyond. We spent days going over them, figuring out who were in them, where they were, what they were doing. In a way, it was like reliving my grandmother’s life. I saw her in a new light. The photos made me realize she was so much more than the elderly, sick woman I knew her as. In this project, I aimed to honor my grandmother and the woman she was. I wanted to capture her and the early years of her relationship with my grandfather. These little, fun moments of joy recreated by my sister and her fiance, aim to reimagine the spirit of my grandmother and grandfather’s lives.
