Are iPads Really Useful or Are They Just For Show?

If one would make a critical comparison between tablets like the iPad and netbooks or laptops, it is obvious that the former were not really meant to totally replace the latter. This is true especially for computing jobs that require more power. If this is the case then, will it be valid to say that tablet PCs such as the iPad are just expensive toys that people buy in order to look cool? Although there are people out there who bought their tablets for this exact reason, there are still a lot who have an iPad or a Galaxy Tab because these devices have a place in their lives. There’s really no reason to sell your iPad and switch back to a laptop, especially if you can justify your iPad use by actually using it, not just showing it off. Be Online, All the Time In this day and age, people have found out that it pays to be connected all the time. For example, those who work in very competitive industries find that getting information right away is very important, or may be the reason for winning or losing to one’s competitors. For these people, mobility goes hand in hand with 24-hour connectivity. This is why although one can always be connected online with a laptop or netbook, a tablet’s size and weight makes it a more appealing option. Besides, with the faster

processor used in the latest iPad, you can readily sell used iPad and buy a gadget that is as fast as a laptop. The Issue With Battery Life Right behind mobility and connectivity in importance is the battery life. Due to the low power requirements of tablets, their batteries last much longer than a laptop’s battery. On the average, most people can use their tablets for surfing the web for eight to ten hours before they need to connect their tablets to a power supply. In comparison, a netbook or laptop can only last for three to five hours maximum, even with just a few programs running. Journalists on the field can use their iPad for the longest time and not be bothered with looking for an electrical outlet to charge their device. You can’t really say the same thing with laptops. Why Use Two When You Can Just Use One? Moreover, a laptop can have a built-in camera, but handling it to record an event can be a hassle because you would need both hands to hold it. On the other hand, you would only need to use one hand to hold your iPad while capturing something on video. If that’s not convenient, what else is? In conclusion, iPads do have their uses for a lot of people who want more than just a techie toy. Those who have a PC at home and want something to bring with them when they go about town, can thrive with a tablet instead of a laptop. With the new iPad packed with upgrades and more exciting features, it is definitely high time to sell used iPad and upgrade. You won’t even be accused of being a mere poser.
