Herschend Residence, section-elevation

“If you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life”. As a fine gardener for high end residential clients and communities around the coast of the Great Lakes, I quickly fell in love with gardens and different outdoor spaces. When I came across the profession of landscape architecture, it seemed as if I had finally found my niche- a place to express myself artistically with plants and landscapes. I approach each design as if I’m being commissioned to make a custom piece of art by each client. With each project, I try to do all the good I can, whenever I can, wherever I can- even on the scale of a quarter acre design project. As landscape architects we have the unique position of making choices that make outdoor living spaces ecologically sound without sacrificing aesthetics. The true heart of the profession is using a multidisciplinary approach to realize the full potential of a design. This approach furthers me to my goal of having a large and lasting positive impact on the environment while practicing the art.
