Love Notes

Hello hello! I’m Beth. I was born and raised in a small town somewhere between New York and Boston in the US. But somehow, someway, I ended up living in the place that I now call home. Wellington, New Zealand. I’m a photographer. I think I’ve always been a photographer, or at least an observer. Even as a kid I loved watching people. I loved trying to predict what they would do next. It’s fascinating. And as soon as I had a camera in my hands, I realised I knew exactly what photographs I wanted to take of people and when to take them. Being an observer and a photographer let’s me see human nature and let’s me stop time. It’s amazing. I’m a mum. This is the newest journey of my life. Having my children along for this ride has really opened my eyes to why I really love photography. As we all grow older every day, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of little memories and moments that happen without anyone noticing. Yes, you can take the holiday snaps and the big family portraits, but for me, it’s so much bigger than that. My goal as a photographer, as a mum, as a teacher, and as a friend is to help preserve those fleeting thoughts and little things that turn into cherished memories. Someday, hundreds of years from now, I hope the photographs I took will be the pieces of all of our families’ histories.

Some very important facts ... I once did the Twist with Chubby Checker on stage.

I love knitting and crocheting, and really anything crafty. I think I may have a crafting problem. Plain potato chips are my go to snack. I’m a Nikon girl. Not for any reason other than that’s what I had to use at my first photography job and just stuck with it. Before photography, I wanted to be a painter, a fashion designer, an interior decorator, and a writer. I don’t have a favourite colour. I love them all! Almost 10 years ago, my husband and I met online and were living in different countries. We got engaged only 4 days after we finally met in person for the first time.

Day in the Life Sessions The day begins as the children wake up and ends when they are tucked in bed. There are amazing moments, everyday moments, sweet moments, temper tantrums, and it’s all captured. You and your family go about your day, as you do everyday. Going to the shop, taking the dog for a walk, doing chores around the house, naps, meals, baths, everything. My job is to be that fly on the wall, a family historian with a keen eye, and make sure all of those moments are documented for your family’s history. I plan anywhere from 12-16 hours for a Day in the Life. Yep, it’s a long day! But after an hour or so, you will forget I’m there snapping away. After that, I edit, colour adjust and present you with a beautiful slideshow. Did I mention that I also make an heirloom album for you to keep as well? Yeah, totally! This is what becomes part of your family history. It’s hand made here in New Zealand and it is just stunning. A Day in the Life Session includes : • • • • • •

A pre-session consult/playdate. This is a good way for everyone to know each other a little better before I even start photographing. I won’t have any cameras with me here. 12-16 hours of photography. Editing of those images. A coffee meeting where you will see your images for the first time. A slideshow that you can share with your family and friends. An heirloom, beautifully printed 10x10 inch album to cherish with your family. And the digital files of the album images. DITL Sessions start at $1200.

One Hour Family Sessions The first 15 minutes or so are spent photographing relaxed portraits of everyone together. The rest of the session is spent playing and doing an activity together as a family. Whether it’s a game of cricket, exploring the beach, blowing bubbles, or building a sand castle, I photograph the relationships between you and your loved ones. It’s not about the actual activity, but the connections. Because that’s what life is about, connections. And kids being kids, of course! A One Hour Family Session includes : • A pre-session consult. It’s great to touch base before hand whether in person or via Skype/Facetime to go over the details. • 1 hour of photography. • Editing of those images. • A coffee meeting where you will see your images for the first time and order any prints. • A slideshow that you can share with your family and friends. • An online gallery where you can download your favourites and order prints. OH Sessions start at $150.

Love notes... Beth is wonderful with children and my shoot was never going to be an easy one!! -Kim K.

I knew she was going to be relaxed and easy to work with from what I picked up through our chats via email and when I met her in person I felt immediately comfortable and certain that I was in good hands.

She is so positive and easy to get on with, just someone that you want to spend time with - which is really key to having a good shoot - you want someone who can get you to relax and Beth is GREAT at that.

There’s just no photographer that comes close in my eyes and she’ll be my go-to for any occasion or project needing beautiful and professional photos.

I couldn’t be happier and highly recommend her both for people shots - be that family photos or for a wedding or special occasions, or for corporate work, food or product shots - she is your lady! Don’t even think twice - just give her a call! Like right now, she is amazing. - Lauren P.

-Deb R.E.

She was very friendly and made us feel comfortable straight away. She was also great with our little girl and we got some really lovely shots of us all. Highly recommended! -Sharon B.
