Residential Project
Manhattan, New York City

The lobby of this space aims to create a unique and harmonious fusion of Japanese and Scandinavian interior design concepts within the busy streets of Manhattam. The concept revolves around the idea of seamlessly integrating bold geometries, natural materials, and a strong connection to nature, blurring the boundaries between the interior and the exterior. It was important to emphasize clean lines, geometric shapes, and a minimalist color palette with incorporation of deconstructed Japanese elements like shoji screens or sliding doors, stone, and paper-like materials (washi) for a tactile and organic feel.

This lobby space concept draws inspiration from the raw beauty of the site’s materials, particularly scraped concrete, elevating it into a sophisticated and transformative design. Additionally, a flexible retail space within the lobby is created, making use of natural materials creating a sense of comfort and visual contrast with the concrete offering endless possibilities for future use. The retail space made of reclaimed wood can be illuminated like a lantern when desired, making it a striking focal point in the lobby viewed at night from outside.

The interior design concept for the mixed-use building celebrates the historical significance of its existing 1950s brutalist architecture while infusing it with modern, forward-thinking elements. This concept aims to create a harmonious blend of past and future, embracing the building’s heritage while catering to the contemporary needs and desires of its 1900 apartment residents and retail shoppers. The building’s original brutalist architectural elements, such as the massive columns and raw concrete finishes, will be preserved and celebrated while softening the brutalist features with warm, earthy tones, rich textures, and sustainable materials to add a touch of elegance and comfort. The 25th-floor co-working lounge will become the heart of the community, offering breathtaking harbor views. Amenity spaces, such as the indoor pool, fitness center, juice bar, presentation room, and playroom, will incorporate elements of bold colors, retro patterns, and iconic furniture pieces will infuse a sense of nostalgia and fun.

The Pumice Museum
Individual Work
Masters Thesis - Final Mark: 110/110
Lipari, Sicily, Italy
A masters thesis project, the proposed pumice museum in Lipari is adaptive reuse of an abandoned pumice factory establishment on the island of Lipari. The existing rail tracks, conveyor belts, and pumice machines that were used in the 1900s are used as part of the exhibit systems to physicalize the rich history of pumice industry of Lipari, most especially that Lipari was once a popular exporter of pumice around the world before it totally closed in 1980’s. The Lipari island, one of the active volcanic islands of Aeolian islands in Sicily, has been declared a UNESCO Heritage in 2002. Ever since then, the current government of Sicily has been planning to build a geopark which engages the visitors to hike around the mountains of Lipari starting from the proposed pumice museum.

Balcony Project
Via Valsugana, Milan
Sketchup, 3DsMax, Photoshop
I worked closely on three projects during my time here, including one apartment project in Milan, Italy, where I produced renderings and key diagrams; one balcony project where I produced 3D model and renderings (pictured); another balcony project where I helped with final presentation for clients by producing visualizations and material conceptualization of roofing.
E. Garcia Design Firm
Interior Design, Renovation, Apartment Project Professional Work
Specializing in residential interiors and construction, E. Garcia Design Firm is an award-winning firm based in Philippines. Each of their projects works toward catalyzing healthier, more creative, and comfortable environments.
During my two years of experience here, I had the opportunity to work through the schematic design phase of apartment projects in Manila, engaging in iterative physical moodboards, design meetings, precedent research, diagramming, and material canvassing. For my last three months, I was given a project of my own and tasked with concepts until construction drawings with the help of interns. During this time, I also created illustrative visualizations for a client and supervised the interior renovation of this interior project.

fHEAl good Fiorenzuola Medical Home
Collaboration with: Arianna Coppi & Camilla Vespa Masters, Mark: 30/30
Fiorenzuola D’Arda, Piacenza, Italy
Medical home in Fiorenzuola d’Arda
An extension of a nearby hospital, this medical home is a place where healing patients are brought to recover. It is a great deal to incorporate the outdoors to indoors such as light wood and greenery, at the same time diffusing natural light to give an overall soft and relaxing environment. Ramps and railings are designated inside extending out to the gardens for maximum assistance.
Nestled between a bustling intersection and a quiet residential neighborhood, the proposed courtyard garden invites the onlookers inside, where more private and healing coves can be found deeper within the building. From the street, its interior gardens are visible to passerbys, forming an open dialogue with the exterior. A glass waiting room juts out of the entrance area, which opens out into a green space. The materials for the interior are natural to feel the outside in the inside. The 5 senses were the key of designing this medical home as it is important for patients to recover peacefully.

Plug-In 4 Rehab
Collaboration with: Serap Sonmez & Ana Kapsarova Masters - Workshop, Winning Project M^C^O, Viale Molise 68, Milan
Plug-In 4 Rehab seeks solutions for renovating abandoned or obsolete structures without demolishing any built architectural elements. It also hopes to serve alternative social solutions based on the share economy, such as co-housing and co-working. The underlying reason for Plug-in for Rehab is to promote a more environmentally responsible mode of intervention, using biodegradable materials for new additions while preventing the waste
of demolitions and the use of dubious construction materials. The furniture proposal is inspired by the the artist Sol LeWitt, who was famous for recreating cubes as variating and incomplete. Artists, who are living temporarily in M^C^O building - where the project will be used, can remove and transfer panel depending on their desire of function. The proposed furniture will never be the same everyday from each artist - giving them a sense of ownership at the same time flexibility of the furniture.

Aquatic Center
Collaboration with: Arun Kumar & Sun HanQiu
Masters - Mark: 30/30
Porto di Mare, Milan
The aim of this design construction studio is to experiment the complexity of design process, from the idea to the realization, by acquiring knowledge about the ways of controlling the relationships between technological, environmental, and structural aspects.
The Aquatics Center is located in the South of Milan. The concept lies in water itself and sunlight, however bright and hot, hitting from every angle, that reminds me of summer by the ocean. Lying in the shade, and seeing the few streaks of light hitting the sand through the branches of a leafy tree, and the Japanese language has a word for that: komorebi. The facade system of this project paves the way for the concept to filter the sunlight into the interior pool while still protecting and maintaining the interior environment during winter season.

The Reason Palace
Individual Work
Masters - Mark: 30/30, published at Riformare Milano
Milan, Italy
The Reason Palace surrounds itself from the concept of Cedric Price’s “The Fun Palace.“ It is exploring the anatomical meaning of architecture and culture of Ripamonti district of Milan which are closely interrelated with the history of the industrial district and evolution of urban programming. The Reason Palace then is a transparent community hub of promoting arts and culture by acknowledging its history and yet projecting for the future. Art exhibitors can adjust the modularity of the spaces according to their own preferences, giving the structure a whole new meaning of funness, flexibility and timelessness.

Adaptive Reuse
Individual Work
Bachelor, Mark: 4/4
Binondo, Philippines
A once abandoned 1900 heritage gem, the aim of this studio is to explore how we can treasure heritage buildings without taking any deliberate measures which might damage directly or indirectly the building and at the same time making way for future flexibility to address present and future concerns.
This was a careful study in terms of reusing the existing building most especially it is located near an art school, high school, and shophouses. The idea of the project is to merge these three key factors of textile materials sellers, art students, and incoming college students - by proposing a creative hub where textile sellers can showcase their products that is only found in this area at the same time art students can not only learn about the heritage of this area but also contribute to how these materials can be incorporated to their own works by proposing areas for workshop and ateliers. I produced several diagrams how to open up this abandoned buildings visually from the streets and several visualizations of sections.
