The Girls I Taught: Poem by Adrian McCune

Sometimes, I worry about the girls I taught, The girls who have been told they are less or not. The girls who are brave, The girls who are bold,

The girls who refuse to shut up and do as they are told. The girls who fight,The girls who yell,

The girls who survived, then returned to give hell. The girls who are told to be less, loud opinionated argumentative angry Yes, some days I worry that one day they’ll lose their bold. Some days I worry that one day they’ll do as they're told.

Sometimes, I worry about the girls I taught.
