County Police Exams I wanted to talk to you about the county police exams that are given out in the recruitment process of finding police officers. There are many people that have dreamed about being an officer of the law since they were small. The problem with this exam is that it ends up destroying these dreams. A lot of people end up failing it and that failure stays on your record. The questions often catch people by surprise and usually cause people to panic. It’s a hard test, but there is some logic associated with it too. I’m going to talk to you about the county police exams, so that you’re better prepared for taking it.

The main point you have to take away from this is that the recruiters are not your friends. They’re not going to try to objectively test you and measure your aptitude. They’re not a school teacher. They’re trying to recruit the best of the best for a job. The questions will be hard and related to what you’ll do on the job. A very common question is the mug shot. They show you a mug shot and 4 other pictures that look like the same person. You have to identify which person is in the mug shot. It’s harder than it looks.

The county police exams will also measure you on something that you’re not told about. They measure you on your writing capabilities. Officers spend a lot of time writing up reports that end up getting used in court. You have to demonstrate excellent writing skills to be an officer, so put some effort into your writing on the exam.
