I get fascinated by anything new and I try to get to know how and why it is done. As a native Greek I am inspired by philisophy, using it as a tool to give meaning to what I call architecture. www.linkedin.com/in/ellie-athanasiadou https://www.facebook.com/ellie.athanasiadou.9 ellie.athanasiadou athanasiadouellie@gmail.com 00306982303866 22 - 24, Averof 10433, Athens Greece

OBLIQUE STRUCTURES Collaboration: Antonios Moras [aether:arch studio], Dimitra Gkougkoudi Date: November 2016 Supervisor: Antonios Moras / antonios.moras@gmail.com
The proposal introduces an oblique section of space. An oblique grid is used to activate the creeping field forces, which formerly disciplined to the orthogonal modernist grid.
CASA TRIPL A Collaboration: Rodrigo Vilas-Boas Date: July 2016 Supervisor: Rodrigo Vilas-Boas / rvilasboas@ooda.eu
The house bear common Portuguese modernistic characteristics which appeared mainly in ‘50s. Restoration is a common practice nowadays in Portugal due to the great cultural heritage, a fact that points out a turning point in architectural practice in general. The proposal pays respect to the initial gestures of the original architect by using a stone layer on the ground floor exterior walls and by coating the wooden-plank-like etching on the first and second floor with real wooden planks.
CHOREOGRAPHING SPACE Type: Thesis project Collaboration: Dimitra Gkougkoudi Host: AUTH Date: February 2016 Supervisor: Maria Voyatzaki / mvoyat@arch.auth.gr
Architecture and Dance are two disciplines where similarities in reference to 3d space and movement can be detected. Although, architecture poses material boundaries to human’s movement while Dance defines prototypes of movement using specific notation systems and interactions between bodies. A study on choreography techniques and an analysis of human’s movement have been carried out. As a result, the initiative for the thesis project consists of the recording of multiple choreographed and improvised movements by a professional dancer. The investigation of the possible incorporation of the dancer’s movement in morphogenetic process and a study on corporeal experience and optical perception of space is the general aim of the project.
This project has been published in ‘Rethinking The Future’ web platform Urban Design Environment (UED) magazine and in NOMAD _ Non-standard Oriented Morphology in Architectural Design web platform and has been awarded with honourable mention in Tamayouz International Award 2016 Excellence in Architecture graduation projects worldwide and as a Finalist in UIA-HYP Cup International Student Competition in Architectural Design 2016

HOTEL ROOMS Type: Academic studio Collaboration: Aliki Vaina Host: AUTH Date: July 2012 Supervisor: Anastasios Tellios / ttellios@arch.auth.gr
The proposal refers to the redefiniton of a hotel room experience. Forms are inspired by the very natural lines. User’s circulation is urged rather than imposed from the outline of the forms. A further research on buildings with metallic structure contributed to an indepth knowledge of the construction method to be used.
THE MYRIAPOD Type: Academic studio Individual work Host: AUTH Date: February 2014 Supervisor: Anastasios Tellios / ttellios@arch.auth.gr
Every whole can be analyzed into its parts. The analysis can be seen as the generation of independent parts, rather than loss of its integrity. Sydney Opera House could be perceived as such a dynamic system. Its parts: supporting structure, shells, tiles could regenerate a system operating with the same hierarchies but resulting in different form, function, spaces. A corruption of this exemplary system is proposed. In the corrupted system, hierarchies and subdivisions that were previously hidden will be obviously performing their role.

DESIGN WITH NATURE Type: Academic studio Collaboration: Virginia Giagkou, Dimitra Gkougkoudi Host: AUTH Date: February 2014 Supervisor: Maria Tratsela / mtrats@arch.auth.gr
The design problem focuses on revitalizing an urban void, a former stream which is currently dried out. The integration of the void to the urban fabric is the main scope of the intervention, rather than the artificial imposition of a green area. The design solution consists of two stages. Firstly, a thorough macroscopic and microscopic site analysis describes the main characteristics of the area. Secondly, the proposed concept concludes into a main longwise trail, bridging two of the most important city routes.
RIGIDITY REDEFINITIONS Type: Academic studio Individual work Host: AUTH Date: July 2014 Supervisor: Stavros Vergopoulos / svergop@auth.gr
The project is developped in two stages. Firstly the flat surface of a napkin is being manipulated and deformed through water evaporation. The natural procedure and the resulting behaviour of the napkin material is being studied through diagrams aiming firstly to analyse and then reproduce the phenomenon. In the second stage, water gives its position to sunlight which through an imaginative phenomenon manipulates and thus reforms the decks of a ship, affecting not only the formally preconceived image of a ship and creating an artificial lanscape but also the hosted functions which are effectively redistributed.
NOISE Type: Academic workshop Individual work Host: AUTH Date: February 2014 Supervisor: Anastasios Tellios / ttellios@arch.auth.gr
Audible acoustic noise is unwanted electrical fluctuations in signals received by AM. Image noise is undesirable by-product of image capture that adds spurious and extraneous information. The workshop investigates the formal noise approached in terms of several parameters such as locus, texture and colour. After some experiments it is proved that formal noise can be desirable and interesting, mostly when combined with strictly organised structures such as 3d grids. The complete disorganisation of noise is supplementary to perfectly defined structures. Noise has been applied in successive scales: from macro when defining the geometry to micro when defining the texture [texture successive subscales]. The application of complementary colours [representational noise] offered an even more balanced optical result.
