YOUR FAMILY SHOOT What to expect

B E F O R E T H E S H O OT Before the shoot we’ll chat a little about the day, confirm a location to meet and a start time. Let me know if anything is really important to you – or if you’re happy just to let me document the day. If you have any questions at all, send them right through, but I hope this little guide might help you a little with the process. Ultimately I want us all to have fun, and for you to have some beautiful, relaxed and natural photos with your family.

W H AT TO W E A R Some photographers spend a lot of time advising their clients what to wear – providing mood boards, colour palettes and whatnot. It’s not my style to tell you what to wear – I want you to be yourselves, but that said there are some tips I can pass on to help you get the most out of the shoot, and feel fab and confident. - Don’t dress in matching outfits, but do dress for - Things to avoid – head to toe black the same occasion. If one person is smart, and one is super (tends not to photograph that well, theres casual there’s a visual disconnect. a reason retailers generally photograph the other colourways first), large slogans or logos, - Dress for what you’re doing – Are we extremely tiny micro checks – these can moire a going exploring in the woods, on the beach or in little – if in doubt stick to bigger checks the city? Dressing for the occasion helps tie the story together - Layering = lots of way to utilise different looks – so you can have a few different outfits with the same base. - Dressing for the winter can be fun too – think kids splashing through puddles in their wellies, wrapping up in - Parents – don’t forget yourselves – it can layers with colourful scarves and woolly hats. be all to easy to focus on getting the kids looking good and forget you’re being photographed too. My advice is to wear something that makes you feel good, covers what you don’t like and shows off what you do.

I’ll arrive at the allocated time, and we’ll start by chatting – getting to know your little ones and getting them comfortable with my presence. Although I find the average amount of time I shoot for is approximately 2 hours, there is no time limit on the day, and if any little tempers start to fray we can stop and wait for it to pass. My aim is always to document you naturally – so I’ll let you do your thing – playing with toysm eating your breakfast, snuggling on the sofa, running in the park. I’ll let you do your thing, and I’ll make it look beautiful.

Your photos will be ready within 3 weeks. I’ll edit them, and present you with the final selection of at least 60 photos via your own personal online gallery. You can download high resolution copies from this gallery, share them with friends and family, and make your own prints. You can also purchase prints, framed prints, canvases, acrylic panels and story book albums through me, should you so wish. I use labs which only work with professional photographers, print using archival quality inks, onto professional papers – for the highest possible quality reproduction. I’ll send you the price list along with the final photos, though this is only an additional service and you are not obliged to make prints with me. If you share the images online, I’d love a little mention – if it’s Facebook, or Instagram – you can tag my page (either Ellie Gillard photography on Facebook, or @elliegillardphotography on Instagram). I won’t share any of the images online unless previously discussed and agreed with you. That’s all for now – I can wait to work with you. Ellie x
