The geodesic inflatable is a group project put together in ARCH 235 by Elliot Lazo, Eric Valiente, Glenn Tanag, Lindy Hsieh, and Sacha Mangine. The design is a combination of the different softwares and machines introduced in the course. Softwares and machines used in the design are Rhino, AutoCAD, and the CNC machine.

LIGHTING:
Using two materials of plastic sheets were used to differentiate the shaded area and the area of which light shines through. The “black” section represents a frosted material of plastic sheets as the “white” represents a transluscent sheet of material.
WIND CIRCULATION: The diagam shown to the left represents air circulation in the inflatable. The wind is produced by a fan which is connected to the inflatable through an extended tube. The wind being pushed in the inflatable maintains the shape and form of the project.

bathhouse ADDITION
9
The “Milam Bathhouse Addition” is a combination of the multifocuses studied in this course. The focus’ of the studio are catered towards precedent studies and site intervention. The Milam House is located on the shore of Ponte Verde, Florida. Being that the house is just a short walk from the beach, it would be a great intervention to add a bathhouse for the residents to wash off before entering the home.

Lines are extruded from the existing building toward different corners of the south end to express relation to the building.
A site was chosen for the addition on the lower-right corner of the existing patio to remain the existing view of the ocean from the residence.

The idea of the course is focused on urban development. The design studio’s topic of design is based upon the projection of Waikiki during the year 2050. By this time much technology and lifestyle has enhanced with the factors of the sea level rising at 3ft. Much of Waikiki is now flooded. With this being an issue, what design strategies could be brought up to maintain Waikiki’s outlook upon upcoming visitors.

This Intermediate level design studio focuses on Building and site design with an emphasis on site development, analysis, and climatic response. Introduction to sustainable design, land use ordinances, description and delineation of property and land features, and urban and community design influences.
HISTORY OF THE SITE:
Thomas Square is a historical site located in Honolulu, Hawaii. It is known to be the site where the Kingdom of Hawaii was restored after it was seized and occupied by George Paulet in 1843. July 26 of the same year, Admiral Richard Thomas sailed into Honolulu Harbor as a local representative of the British Commission. His intentions for the visit was to end the occupation, which he had successfully done on July 31st. olulu, Hawaii, USA Hawaii’s King, King Kamehameha III, was thrilled and named the park, Thomas Square, in honor of Admiral Richard Thomas.

The “Psychometric Chart” displays the site’s air humidity range and the site’s comfort zone in degrees celsius. The chart shows that Honolulu’s range of temperature ranges from 20 to 30 degrees celsius and its comfort zone sits at 25 degrees celsius.
The Stereographic Sun Path diagram portrays the sun pattern throughout the year each month. This chart reads that Honolulu’s sun path at 12pm is angled at 70 degrees during the months of September and October.
