THE MULTIMEDIA ARTS PROGRAM Constant advancements in media technology provide us new ways to enjoy, produce, and distribute information. Media technology users have never been more involved in the interaction and dissemination of content. BENILDE’S MULTIMEDIA ARTS DEGREE PROGRAM pioneers in the creation of interactive online and offline content. By advocating social accountability and relevance in media,it aims to produce a new generation of storytellers with a flair for the visual language and the ability to enhance the communication experience with target audience by altering space and interface. The program combines core skills in communication, interface design, and programming for various user-driven applications such as digital media, web design and content, mobile content, interactive games and content, print media,and exhibit installations. It is recommended for students interested in communication arts, journalism, advertising, various media technologies, graphic design, game design, and other fields related to digital arts and design.

THE MULTIMEDIA ARTS FESTIVAL The Multimedia Arts Festival is an event that showcases a collection of multisensory exhibitions with a myriad of distinct and individual concepts. It features Multimedia Installations made to create a simulated experience of innovative design and art.

VISION

MISSION

Multimedia Arts Festival’s (MMAF) mission is to spread the aesthetic appeal of Multimedia Arts and the knowledge behind its use.

MMAF’s vision is to make Benilde known as the school that breeds progressive artists, and is highly distinct and different from other art and design schools.

MMAF wants to uplift the value of art in the Philippines, going beyond graphic arts through technological innovations. MMAF will introduce new forms of media through interactive installations that can be used for other fields that aren’t limited to the arts.

Benilde will be recognized as multifaceted program that is the proponent of Multimedia Arts in the country.

THE EVENTS

F

rom the white hallowed halls of the awe-striking structure that is the De La Salle-College of St. Benilde School of Design and Arts, a multitude of thoughts and ideas, musings and wonderment are formed and culminated in a single space. This year, another culmination of sorts has been carefully orchestrated to encapsulate design, art, and innovation the Philippines’ very first Multimedia Arts Festival. From April 10-12, 2013 at the Rockwell Tent, Makati City, the students of CSB’s Multimedia Arts program invite you to an exhibit of innovative multimedia installations and artworks. F

ast forward to the Multimedia Arts Festival in 2014, Urban Landscape breathed a new batch of creative minds who introduced their skills. Held in the SMX Convention Center, which is which is essentially a playground of art in a technology-evolving world, the second installment brought upon huge success — another gold star to its reputation. It was in the same year a special edition of the festival was introduced, piquing the minds of the public with the promise of a completely different exhibition compared to the previous festivals. R

eframed made history as the Multimedia Arts Festival entered its third year in 2014 with 223 exhibiting students. Held at the Green Sun, the show focused on various experiences us humans go through in everyday life and using them as key elements to tell a story. With this in mind, the tagline “Our Story Is Your Story� played a big role among the exhibiting students who shared their experiences not only as artists but also as human beings, weaving them together to form a completely new story for the public to be immersed in. These stories were divided into two parts, one held in the Axxon which features various installations and projected artworks and the other being in the Eye showcasing videos in 360 degrees along with live streaming audio to involve the spectators of the festival. These festivals crowned a pioneer in landscape media, bringing in 5,000 attendees each year and spreading like wildfire in social media with 10,000 followers.

E

veryone has a story. We struggle to

articulate our everyday realities, both in the realms of the imagined and experienced. We are often confronted by so many thoughts and feelings that are not fully articulated. We grapple for words,

contradictions and conflicts in life - from joys to pains, highs and lows, advancing and receding, truths and lies, life and death. These are embedded in various dynamic, interactive and engaging electronic media.

images and sounds in order to express ourselves. Various forms of these expressions are sought constantly in order to understand what’s going on around us. And as we endeavor to reach that kind of understanding, we are reminded as well that there’s this deep longing to be understood. So we strive to look inward, peeling off each layer of our skin to expose what’s inside. As we explore to find ourselves, we begin to realize that we are indeed made up of fragments, cracks, fissures, breaks, and imperfections - formed through years of fighting so many battles. Bruised and scarred all over, yet we continue to confront life’s challenges everyday. That’s when a real essence of beauty can be grasped and experienced. And so we continue in telling our stories using fragments/break as our take off point. Re-framed in different multimedia platforms,
