Hi, I have just recently bought a 200e, but am having issues getting it to recognise files from my usb flash drive?? well it wont find them at all, i have both sew and jef files on there. Any idea's why this would be happening? My experience with this machine so far has been rather frustrating as everything i have tried to embroid so far the needle snags and i end up with a giant ball of cotton in one spot and a hole in the fabric or clothing item. I have tried many different stablizers, etc Any help would be VERY welcomed. AJ AJ I have just discovered myself that there is now a software update for the 200E that addresses this very issue with USB drives. On the Janome web site go to "learning center" and then "software updates". It warns you that this update is for only those machines with the version of software listed. Your 200E will display the version running on the screen after it boots up. I have not installed this update because I never had this issue but I see others have. However, If your machine is new to you, the manual doesn,t describe how to load designs through the USB. They have to be placed in the right folders for your machine to recognize them. Here is what my dealer described for me. After turning on the power to your machine, wait for it to finish booting and then insert your new USB drive. The 200E will automatically create the folders needed. Either power off your 200E or select a different source on the screen and then remove the USB drive. Insert it into your computer you will see a new folder "EMB" When you open this folder you will see another folder "EMBF". Open this folder and this is where you need to copy and paste an embroidery design in JEF format. After doing so you can re-insert it in your 200E and touch the USB emblem on your screen. You will see the "EMBF folder. Touch this folder and you should see the embroidery file you just copied there. Touching this file will open it. If you've had troubles, I would try deleting all folders on the USB drive with your computer and then re-insert it into your 200E and let it create the folders new. When we first started embroidering, we bought the book "Embroidery Machine Essentials". It is listed in the accessories section of Janome's web site, under machines, but we found ours at a sewing and craft store. It is a wealth of information for new embroiderers and those not so new. We found you have to be careful when threading the 200E, that the thread gets caught in the take up arm. It's easy to slip past it and if it does will cause thread bunching while trying to embroider. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 200E. We are happy with ours now that we've learned the secrets. ------------------------Mark from central NY http://content.janome.com/fusetalk/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=7&threadid=2582
