Charles Fulton’s residence, 1944
Charles Fulton was one of Brisbane’s most iconic figures in the development of architecture in Queensland as both an educator and practitioner. His own residence in Taringa demonstrates how European architecture ideas were transferred to Australia and modified to the local conditions. In the immediate post war period, the western suburbs of Brisbane were used for the location of many experiments with modern domestic architecture and the Fulton residence is part of that tradition.
