Jogger Boys
“You guys good for a couple of questions for an interview?” “Uhhh, I’ve been drinking a bit,” declares Drew Bogart of the Jogger Boys. That introduction is an accurate description of these two kids from Western New York’s “f**k it, were having fun” attitude. Drew and Garret Jones are two hip-hop artists determined to make their mark on the younger/college crowds as they take their sound on the road. The boys debut EP “Who Would’ve Thought” is out this Summer 2016 and they look to prove to audiences that they belong. With singles being released on a regular basis, and their debut music video being put out a month ago, The Jogger Boys are starting to create a steady buzz in the Buffalo area. Be on the look out for more as the Jogger boys continue to make a statement in 2016. !
HEEZY
For Buffalo born Garret Corbran, his motivation comes from his love for music and the adrenaline he gets the minute he starts playing/producing. At the age of sixteen, Garret (Heezy) took up a hobby of freestyle rapping, shortly after his first musical experiment, Corbran found most success when he was able to translate his thoughts into electronic beats on the computer. Garret seems to find serenity behind the scenes and on the screen of his laptop. “I may only have 10 songs on SoundCloud, but I have over 200 files on my computer,” the artist declares that he is very patient when releasing tunes. He appreciates all of the love and support his friends and family have given him through these times as he works to getting to the next level. Garret continues his work with local hip-hop artists as he learns and builds his trap/future bass tracks into something that everyone can get behind. Search Heezy on SoundCloud and get ready for a steady dose of trap beats and surely more to come from this talented young man. Heezy currently has a track with the Jogger Boys and is working on a remix with the B.E.C. !
B.E.C.
Rochester Natives, Scary and Flow Namath make it a point to tell audiences where they have been, what they have seen, and how they feel about the current status of the world. The two young men together call themselves the B.E.C or (Best Ever Crew). “We believe that since we have seen so much and have gone through the ringer so many times we can connect to a larger audience and get more people to understand our struggle.” The boys are coming off tours with both Joelle Ortiz and Chris Webby and are eager to get back on the road in order to share their story and their music. “We try to make our music as relatable as possible, we want people to listen to our music no matter what the circumstances to either lift you up or talk you through what is going on.” Definitely listen morefrank to come from the B.E.C as they continue to earn the shot byforzach name they call themselves Buffalo-Rochester, New Yorkby.

THERE GOES THE NBHD…AGAIN by Daniel Zewde (@dzewde) With the arguably one of the most colorful shows on the planet while still all draped in black and white, The Neighbourhood came through country on the waviest Nu Wave tour. I was fortunate enough to catch them on their Indianapolis, IN leg of the tour with Kevin Abstract and Mothxr and witnessed a hell of a performance. I’m accustomed to walking in the back/press entrance with a camera in hand and bypassing most security screenings. With this show, I was fortunate enough to attend as a spectator, so I think I got a bit of a different show than most others. I tried watching and listening more intently, almost with a critical eye, but it’s hard to be critical with a group that performs like The NBHD. The night started at The Egyptian Room at The Murat which is a historical building downtown Indianapolis in one of the dopest neighborhoods I’ve had the pleasure of visiting. Kevin Abstract (native of Houston, Texas) opened up the night with his creative set whilst rocking a motorcycle helmet and the heaviest bass. Mothxr kept the crowd’s energy up with their punk rocker-esque style, and then we get to main attraction: The Neighbourhood. Jesse Rutherford’s skinny silhouette was draped in a pair of black skinnies, white t-shirt and some old high-top Vans and was essentially matching half of the audience. Last tour, his hair was dyed a mix of blonde and silver and he’s come back around to his rocker/emo roots and has a head full of dark hair again.
The Midwest isn’t exactly known for its people, venues or anything at all…it’s just kind of here. When The NBHD came out, you would’ve thought they were performing a show in their hometown. The Egyptian Room was packed chest to back and people were screaming lyrics at the top of their lungs like they wrote the songs themselves. The Neighbourhood’s performance was outstanding – they bounced between music from their old album and Wiped Out (available on iTunes, Spotify, etc.) and closed out their set with one of my personal favorite songs: RIP 2 My Youth. I always wish they’d do some cover songs or some of their lesser known songs, but I don’t believe I’ve ever seen them live and left unhappy. They even did an acoustic song (Baby Came Home 2 / Valentines) and the crowd did exactly what you’d expect: cell phone flashes on and swayed from left to right. All-in-all, if you’re looking for a fun concert that’s [relatively] appropriate for “all” age groups, The NBHD is a great bet. They’ve got catchy hooks, dope beats and typically hit every major metro area in the U.S. They’re about to start the European leg of their tour, but be sure and periodically check their social media. You never know when they’ll be in a Neighbourhood near you.
