About Ellison Travel In 1980, we opened our doors as a small basement office in the Exeter Town Hall with two employees. Today we have grown as a family-owned and operated business employing over 90 people across Canada. Our four departments: Vacations & Cruises, Adults Groups, Student Groups and Corporate Travel, work together sharing knowledge and experience, a cross-over that works to your advantage. Prior to opening Ellison Travel & Tours in 1980, I spent 14 years in Education at the high school level. As a teacher, I organized school trips for students which sparked my interest in travel. Through this, I witnessed the enlightening and lifechanging effect travel can have on us at any age – the ability to open both hearts and minds. Education is the foundation that our business is built on, and every day we honour the importance of lifelong learning through travel, through sharing our wealth of industry knowledge and professional development. 9 Ellison is a Certified Student Travel Organization (CSTO) – an accreditation given by the Center for Student Travel Safety, an affiliate of the Student and Youth Travel Association (SYTA). SYTA is the voice of student travel for tour operators and suppliers worldwide. We are the first tour operator in Canada to receive this certification, which is awarded to companies who have met or exceeded the minimum of 25 safety standards established by the Center and SYTA. SYTA is the only association in the industry equipped to educate student travel providers about all aspects of student travel, with an emphasis on student travel safety and personal and educational enrichment. The standards are derived from the most effective industry practices and are based upon SYTA’s Code of Ethics and reviewed by an objective commission of industry experts.
