Biker Letters

by Hiroshi Naganuma

Greeting Bikers. There is an old phrase that says that the only ones who understand motorcyclists are the dogs that have once stuck their heads out of the car window. Did you never see them? Did you see the happy face of a dog when he does that? Well, he has his face to the wind like a motorcyclist ... And that can not be told to anyone, it can only be lived to understand it.

We have been through many things since this beautiful project began. We have had good and bad days, we have suffered and we have had fun. The most rewarding part of our work is how, day after day, the community increasingly supports us and asks us to have one more edition of this publication. We will continue to collect experiences and, now that we are in digital media, we are not going to stop only in Bogotá, much less in Colombia alone, we will get experiences from all over the world. There are many stories, many experiences, from people who only use bikes to work, to those who live and travel around the world.

Our goal, with all this, is to learn from other bikers about motorcycles, the experiences of traveling around the world, the experiences of solving problems... We all have something to teach the world, as we also have much to learn. The most beautiful thing about being a biker is the brotherhood of sharing, of helping and respect that we have for our fellow bikers. We hope that the change to a digital medium is to your liking. We also listen to you and, believe me, this magazine will continue to grow and transform so that we can all enjoy it. A hug and I hope to meet you on the road. Live to Ride.

Addressing the issue of “How to protect yourself from a motorcyclist at the table”, I tell you that because the current biker is a doctor, engineer or the profession that comes to mind (I must confess: there are lawyers too), that person, in the week, he disguises himself as “normal” to do his job. But below the skin of that “normal person”, an uncontrollable disease remains dormant. On Thursday, a kind of fever begins to take over him ... And, when Friday comes, he gradually disconnects from his usual tasks and spends his hours thinking only “about that”. If you think that “the motorcycle” is an addiction or an illness ... Well, no one said that it was not ... But, surely, it is incurable. And the next time you go in your car and cross a lonely traveler or a group of them, do not look at them like crazy. Do not think they are “dangerous vagabonds without work” that have gone out of their way ... Remember your dog (or one you have seen) when he sticks his head out the window. Remember that you must have said to whoever was with you “look at the dog, how happy it is to stick its head out!” ... And you will understand why we love our bikes. Horacio Portela Motorcyclist and Argentine journalist.

Noti-Flash HLS technology by Held

Held brings light to the dark with HLS technology! The Held Light System (HLS) is its latest development to make motorcycling even safer. Illuminated LED modules that are integrated into the protective clothing of a motorcyclist, improve the visibility of the biker significantly in low light conditions. HLS technology makes a key contribution to the prevention of accidents when traveling at night or in foggy and rainy conditions. Unlike the reflective ones, which can only reflect the light that illuminates them, the HLS optical fibers emit their own light constantly. This makes a big difference in being or not seen.

Royal Enfield Concept KX 838

Royal Enfield surprised the world in Milan with the launch of this Concept KX Bobber, a modern reimagination of a brand model from the 1930s. The original KX was an air-cooled v-twin sidevalve with a monstrous 1,140 cc displacement , while the engine of the new one seems to be a bit smaller if the “838 engine logo is something to pass up. Officially, Royal Enfield says that the KX Concept is not intended for production, but there are too many details completely resolved so we can believe that is true.

Givi S450

This is a kit designed by Givi to remove tires without a chamber (sellomatic). It is a practical equipment and of a reduced size. The kit consists of three CO2 cylinders, a valve fitting, a flexible tube, a scalpel, five wicks, two specific tools and a sealant glue tube. In addition, it has an instruction manual, along with a QR code, where we can learn step by step the correct operation of this lifebuoy. Thus, we can punch out and inflate our tires until we reach a workshop and perform its proper maintenance.

BMW C400GT

CONTOUR 4K

BMW has presented a new Gran Turismo scooter at the EICMA 2018 in Milan. The BMW C400GT will be located next to the BMW C400X as a long-range version of the popular scooter. Using the same engine of a cylinder of 34 bhp and the box of changes CVT of the X, the GT offers a greater protection against the wind for more comfort in long distances. An optional 6.5-inch color TFT board controls multimedia connectivity, including the phone, music and GPS. The capabilities of the C400GT are further enhanced by the keyless ignition system, ABS and stability control as standard.

After a long absence, the company returns with a new camera. Video with 4K resolution at 30 fps and FullHD at 120 fps, water resistant to 10 m depth and battery to record 60 minutes in 4K. Although this camera is redesigned inside, on the outside we have the traditional button to record without turning it on, like the photos. A single button located on the back to take a photo of 12 MP. Bluetooth, wifi, HDMI, USB connection and laser alignment, to ensure the shots with an aligned horizon. Although it is a pre-release, we hope to play soon with one.

Piaggio Vespa GTS 2019

The helmets: 5 tips you should know

The motorcycle adventures are enjoyed twice more with the safety of a good helmet. The market offers us many options, the secret lies in knowing how to choose the right one. Issues such as the adaptability of the model, the size, the reputation of the manufacturer or the design are decisive to make our choice and obtain maximum protection on the road. Here are the top five tips for buying a helmet.

What model of motorcycle helmet fits my needs? Do we have a scooter or an enduro bike? Do we use it to go to work or to make long trips? The answers to these questions will determine our choice. Consequently, urban bikers will be satisfied with the open and modular models, while road bikers should bet on the safety of the integrals. However, for a competition, it is essential to have a motocross or integral model to guarantee optimum protection in extreme conditions, depending on the type of competition we are going to attend.

What makes a helmet design really good? Motorcycle helmets are not different from love. The beauty of a design can push us to make a 6

hasty decision, without considering qualities or defects that are not appreciated by the naked eye. No matter how spectacular the design of an open helmet is, any integral model will surpass it in terms of road safety. However, we should not underestimate aesthetics when buying a helmet; In addition to being integrated into the identity of the driver, the colors of this accessory will increase or decrease your visibility on the road.

What is the most recommended helmet brand on the market? This is the one million question. While not all offer the same performance, brands such as Scorpion, Exo, Shark, HJC, LS2 or AGV, have earned the trust of millions of users thanks to their excellence. But not all manufacturers are “clean wheat. The increase in Asian trade, for example, has flooded the market with low quality helmets that often do not even have any certification. In other words, they not only increase the risk of injury, but also the risk of fines.

New or second-hand helmet? Despite the offers that abound on the Internet, buying a used helmet is not the best option. The useful life of these supplements is around five years. Beyond this limit, your materials do not guarantee our 100% protection. We have the obligation to use certified helmets (DOT, ECE, SNELL or NTC) and only the professionals of a trustworthy helmets store can guarantee this homologation, unlike the classified ads portals.

Why is the size of a helmet important? Did you know that two out of ten motorcyclists who suffer a serious accident lose their helmets? This anomaly does not occur because the model is inadequate or of poor quality: it is because its size has been wrongly chosen. In this sense, the ideal helmet should press slightly on the forehead and cheekbones, but without hurting or causing discomfort. Carefully considering each of these criteria will help us to buy a helmet that meets our needs as bikers, without compromising our road safety.

ABS brakes: Do they make driving safer?

ABS is nothing more than the acronym of the concept “Anti-lock Braking System”, an anti-lock braking system. A technology that prevents the wheels of a motorcycle from being blocked in the event of sudden or emergency braking.

1. Proven benefits

4. Shortest stopping distances

traction is restored.

Studies of fatal crashes, insurance claims and the performance of test lanes confirm the importance of anti-lock brakes.

On the test track, new and experienced riders stop more quickly with ABS brakes. Braking distances improve on wet and dry surfaces equally.

Around 5,000 people died in motorcycle accidents in 2016. It makes sense to reduce the risk with ABS.

2. Less deaths The fatal crash rate is 31% lower for motorcycles equipped with optional ABS than for the same models without ABS.

3. Less shocks Insurance claims for motorcycles with ABS are presented 20% less than without ABS.

How does ABS work? What ABS adds to motorcycle braking As any biker knows, stopping a motorcycle is not as simple as stopping a car. Most bikes have separate brake controls for the front and rear wheels; both wheels can lock during sudden braking. In a car, a blockage can result in a skid. On a motorcycle, it can mean a serious fall. No matter how skilled you are as a pilot, you can not predict when a driver ahead will interrupt you, which will force you to brake hard. The surfaces of the streets can be unexpectedly sandy or more slippery than they appear. With ABS, bikers can brake completely without fear of blockage. Antilocks automatically reduce brake pressure when a blockage is about to occur and increase it again after the

An anti-lock braking system operates by constantly measuring the speed of the wheels. A common way of doing this is with a small grooved ring near the brake disc, often called a tone wheel. The wheel speed sensor sends the readings to the ABS unit, which can determine if the wheel is about to stop rotating. If so, the wheel speed information is used to adjust the brake cylinder pressure on the brake caliper several times per second. ABS does not affect normal braking, you only notice it in an emergency. Both conventional brake systems and combined brake systems, which connect one or both controls to both wheels, can have ABS. Today’s systems can be as light as 680 grams, so there is no obstacle in performance. 7

The tires:

the best pressure for your bike

There are many points to analyze such as, for example, the rigidity of the compound, the temperatures at which they arrive, the sizes, the carvings... This time we will talk about the subject that, either by ignorance or by following the manual, many of us have made a mistake , the tire pressure. The tires, also known as covers, tires, rubbers or rubber bands in some regions, are toroidal rubber parts, which are placed on the wheels. Its main function is to allow an adequate contact by adherence and friction with the ground, enabling starting, braking and

guiding. Many make the inflation of the tires by what they say the manual, the friend, the mechanic or social networks. If you are one of them, this article will change your ideal tire pressure number. But, first of all, let’s talk a moment about the person who recommends us to do this task, Leo Smith. For more than ten years he was responsible for the development of the Avon Tires, few people know more than him about this world and he is the ideal person to follow his advice.

Manómetro de aguja de KTM, calidad y precisión excepcional.

8

Smith’s recommendation is to cold calibrate the pressure indicated in the manual and, after traveling a couple of kilometers on the road at the usual speed, we stop and measure the hot pressure. The pressure of the front tire should have increased by 10% and the back by 20%. If the increase is greater, the initial pressure is too low and we drag too much rubber on the floor, so we must wait to cool the rubbers and put a higher pressure than the initial. But if the pressure went up less than indicated, we should get cold air. After a couple of tests, we will know the optimal pressure. This is ideal to do every time we change tires, we must remember that each

manufacturer has different compounds. In case of rain, Smith recommends raising the pressure of the rear tire by 2 or 3 psi, to make the rim easier to cut the water and reduce the risk of aquaplaning (aquaplane or hydroplaning, is the situation in which between the rims and the floor interposes the water, losing the adhesion). For the front rim it is recommended to maintain the same pressure.

Myths Smith does not recommend changing the tire pressure if you carry luggage or a passenger. When tires are manufactured all these aspects are prevented. However, he recommends increasing 2 psi when they have lost 40% of their styling. Another piece of advice refers to the effects of climate change. This can affect the tire pressure by up to 3 psi, so it is recommended to check the tires. I hope that these tips from Leo Smith will help you, I put them into practice and my bike, just with the tires, has changed to better.

The rim, a high-tech product, is the only point of connection between the vehicle and the ground.

The tread: The norm or your security? While it is true that throughout the National Traffic Code does not appear a rule that indicates the minimum tilling that should have the tires, we will be guided by the Colombian Technical Standard NTC 5375. This standard regulates the standards that each motorcycle must meet when it is made the technical-mechanical review and polluting emissions. In the case of tire styling, it says: “the depth of work in the area of greatest wear of any of the service tires, less than 1 mm or less than the marks specified by the manufacturer”. It is important that the styling of our tires meets these conditions, but to understand the part of “brands specified by the manufacturer”, we have to take into account something very important for our safety. Every time we buy some tires we see that, on the sides, we have some triangles marked on the upper edge. This is the call sign where the tire wear guide is located.

There are two types of guides: small grooves that disappear with the wear or a small protuberance in the carving that levels with the rim. Once this is done, the tire must be changed, in accordance with the NTC 5375 standard.

Recommendations The correct condition of the tires is very important. Remember that it is the main contact that the motorcycle has with the asphalt. Its correct condition, its quality and the ideal inflation are important to have a good grip. Despite the fact that the law forces us to change the tires because of the wear and tear, only you know the state they are in and when they have to be changed. Many times the guides disappear, but as you can see a good carving, we continue to use them, but we must bear in mind that in those moments the tires have already lost many of their compounds and, therefore, their effectiveness is low or null.

We already learned in the workshop section (page 8) the correct way to inflate our tires, regardless of what our friends or mechanics tell us. If you do not know how to check the tires or what all the data written on the side mean, you can not miss our next editions. If you want to learn from your own bike, you can write to elmoterosas@gmail.com and request a basic course where you will learn more than you imagine. 10

My bike

By Adriana Hinestrosa

Adriana Hinestrosa an unstoppable motorcyclist, endurista and biker

My dad has been in the world of motorcycles for almost 40 years. He was a director of FEDEMOTO. Then I grew up with bikes. My dad had the first hiring of motorcycles and ATVs in Cali. This is family. When I was eight years old I remember that I was going to the track, there in Cali, they got ATVs and 50 and 70 cc motorcycles. One day, hidden from everyone, I took my brother’s bike (which competed before me) and to everyone’s surprise, I ended up handling it very well. When my dad asks me “and who taught you?” I said “Daddy, I do not know, I saw people riding here and now”, my dad answered “you have to ride a motorcycle”. Then I bought a Yamaha PW 50 cc.

I started to compete on par with my brother. We were going to races with my dad, but at the beginning it was almost a game. At that time there were no girls riding a motorcycle, there was no such category. It was a crazy thing when my mom knew ... “Why are you going to ride a motorcycle?” “The girl is not going to ride a motorcycle, she’s going to kill herself.” But my dad wanted me to ride a motorcycle at all costs. My childhood was atypical, because instead of playing and making plans with my friends, my days were training days; I was going to the track with my dad, really, without realizing it, it was becoming a sport at a professional level. In my first official motocross competition I was third among children, so it was a good start. The first girl of eight years who is measured to compete with children. For me it was the coolest thing, but it was weird because it was not a sport for women. I was small and did not have the maturity to understand it, but from that moment I knew it was what I wanted in my life. Then I won my first 50 cc race. At that time I did

12

not have a uniform or anything, my father hardly bought me a helmet and it was big for me. With time I began to rise in category. In the 65 cc I started competing with a Kawasaki KX60. Then my dad did everything possible to get me to all the races of the championship. I started having more experience and learning more and more. I took motocross courses in Medellín with Juan David Posada and another with Nicolás Stankov in Cali ... and well, it became my day to day. At school they gave me permits to travel to compete throughout Colombia. The truth is that my childhood and my youth were something different, but I enjoyed it too much. When I went to the 85 cc category, I got the sponsorship from Yamaha, they gave me a motorbike, it was like a dream come true. I started getting sponsorship with different brands, I already ran with all the uniform and security elements; Thanks to my dad who sent about 50,000 sponsorship proposals and it was very difficult to keep up because this sport is very expensive. My dad was and is the main support,

I went to the United States to study English. One day I saw a helmet, it caught my attention and I bought it thinking of putting it in my room, I just wanted it. I did not have a motorcycle. That is another important fact, I have never had a street bike in my life.

always waiting proud and happy at the finish line, my mom was dying of fear, although nowadays she loves it. At that moment comes the time of the university and with it the rumba and the outings with friends, so I had the typical dilemma of a teenager, why I have dedicated so much to this and I have not lived. I began to question what my mother told me so much, “you do not ride any more motorcycle, you’re a woman, not anymore” .... And finally his words had an effect on me. I thought “I did it, I was the departmental champion with men in 85 cc”. I got part of what I wanted and I retired as a professional, but the sport was always present. I sold all my uniforms. I did not want to have any memories.

The helmet lasted a month of adornment, because magically, when I returned to Cali (the English course lasted five months and my tourist visa was already over), Mara Sosa, a girl who practices enduro, was organizing a meeting of endurist women. He invited me because I was in the middle, in some way; I rode with borrowed bikes, but not at the competition level. So I told Mara that I had not competed for 14 years and I did not have a motorcycle. I was also invited by Catalina Medina, another woman who loves two wheels and who was working with Auteco at the time. I told her that I did not have a motorcycle and only had a helmet. She says “cool, I’m going to take some test bikes and I’ll lend you one”. Then, I left with my helmet and my desire to return to feel a motorcycle. It was a very cool meeting because there were almost 30 girls and it was the first time I had shared a space with women who were equally fond of motorcycles like me. They lend me the motorcycle and in the first round I went to Andrés Mejía ‘El Capi’, who was the instructor of the event, he says “what are you doing here?”,

I ask him “why?” And he says “why not?” you’re competing, I do not understand what you’re doing here. “ In the midst of my happiness, I told him the whole story that they have read so far. Capi tells me “I want you to compete again and you will start by having a motorcycle”. In that encounter the night grabbed me and I did not get off the bike. While the others gave two laps and got tired, I got on all the bikes, everyone lent them to me. I ended the event with great concern, why am I not doing what I really love doing? What is limiting me, if everything is being given to me magically? I started to organize myself and I bought my KTM 250 cc 4 stroke. To buy it I had a process of going to the store many times, I visualized it and it became almost my platonic love. Since many years ago, something in me said that one day I would have that motorcycle. My dad proposed that we make an investment. We paid half and half. It was a used motorcycle, but it was perfect at the time. For me, 4 times was a new world because the last bike I had was a Yamaha YZ-85 2-stroke. When I had it, I told Capi “ready, I already have the bike”. And I went to Bogota for a weekend to take up the sport, this time in a new modality for me: the enduro. With El Capi I began to train, it was complex, but with his support and my desire, everything was happening. 13

In my first enduro competitions, I finally experienced what it felt like to compete with women. The first year I was runner-up in the category. At that time I got a great sponsorship: Auteco with its brands. All my uniform, my new boots, things I had never had. When all that came to the house I started crying because I remembered that as a little girl I did not have boots and, after 20 years, having everything I had dreamed of, after seeing my dad fight her so much with me, it was an incredible feeling. “This is serious, this is really happening,” I thought, “it really was worth all the effort and dedication.” Then, in 2016, I was national champion in that category. Finally my biggest dream had been fulfilled. At the same time, in that year, I began to know social networks and to show my liking for motorcycles through them. I also started to get to know another type of motorcycle different from the competition and I found one that caught my attention: the Cafe Racer type. That’s how I got to know the Royal Enfield brand; I had bikes with which I immediately identified, very retro and very stylish. Through social networks I published some photos of the brand and finally, one day, without looking for it, they invited me to live one of the most incredible experiences of my life: filming in the Himalayas in India, on a 411 cc Himalayan motorcycle that, At that time, I was just going to arrive in Colombia. 14

The most curious and ironic thing about the story is that I did not have a pass. I got the pass two days before the trip. My debut outside the tracks was in India. As all my sports career was in competition bikes and my mom never agreed with the bikes on the street, I never saw the need to have a pass until then. The trip opened the panorama in an incredible way. I understood that in the street there is a lifestyle, of fun, of enjoyment, of freedom, of everything. Being in India I experienced, obviously, a drastic change of culture; it’s chaos, it’s traffic, the one that drives a motorcycle does it anywhere. The route was 80% off-road. My experience was particularly one of the hardest; because of the weather conditions and the way the trip took place, especially at the time of climbing the highest point that a motor vehicle in the world can reach, at about 5,800 meters above sea level. With this trip I began to be known as a biker and lover of two wheels. Already the subject of competences had gone into the background because the costs, even having sponsors, become difficult to sustain. I said to myself, “what can I do to stay in the world of motorcycles without having to compete?” Then I started to handle it as a way of life, keeping my sponsors, but betting on sharing weekend plans on motorbikes, rides, etc. I began to discover

the power of social networks. Not to profit, because this is not my main job, but to achieve my great goal that is to encourage women to ride a motorcycle. When I returned from India, I was invited to several stations to comment on my experiences. Then the women began to write to me: “Hey, very cool, I want to do that too, I want to learn, but I do not know where” ... It had never occurred to me to teach, but I did. At that moment I was stung by the subject of teaching. That year I did not compete in any of the championships. I spent the weekend, riding motorbikes and documenting everything in photos and videos, which allowed me to stay current. I came to live in Bogotá because I realized that the motorcycle industry is very broad and there is still a lot to do, especially with women. I contacted several brands related to motorcycles and began to try some. People think I have a lot of bikes, but it’s because they lend them to me. I always say that my heart is with KTM. I do not close to a particular brand because, precisely with the trip to India, I understood that there are a variety of types of motorcycles and that as well as the

KTM 250 EXC-F

people in your life, each motorcycle comes to bring something to you and leaves when it should be. In December of 2017 I decide to sell the KTM. It made me very hard. In January they call me YCF, which is a French brand of Pitbike type bikes; some motorcycles that are becoming fashionable, for the ease of acquiring them, of handling, because they are fun and you can do almost the same as with a big motorcycle. They proposed the sponsorship and I said to myself, “Why not? I’ve never set up one, so let’s do it”. I’m still knowing her, but, so far, I found it very funny. The concept of the motorcycle is a small chassis with a large motor. I still have not taken advantage of mine, but at the beginning my heart was won, not only because it is physically divine, but because I liked the torque and the lightness that it is. It is a 4-stroke 150 cc motorcycle and very versatile, because it gives me the possibility of doing motocross or getting into the dirt. I liked that a lot. When I take all the advantage, because I’m going to change the suspension and I’m going to do several things, I think it’s going to be a hit.

relaxed way. At this moment I have sponsors who support me (like EVS, in matters of protections), I am also part of a great biker community, led by Mobil and called “We are Unstoppable”. I am an ambassador and influencer of some sports brands that, at this moment, bet more than a competition; to a lifestyle, to what I transmit as a woman, to my passion for motorcycles. I do it in a very spontaneous and coherent way because, I say it sincerely, what I show is what I am and what I feel identified with. So far I have been very faithful to my tastes and that is what people see in me; an uncomplicated, passionate and free woman. I believe that influencing, more than anything, is a great social responsibility, that is why, the brands with which I am using them, I recommend them and I always give my opinion to people who, somehow, are all the time looking for new alternatives among so many Now, what you do (the El Motero company), for example, regarding the safety of the motorcyclist, seems to me to be very important and is one of the main objectives that must be taken when influencing and reaching many people through of social networks: to be able to make the motorcyclist aware of the importance of taking to the streets safely and consciously of driving responsibly.

No garment defines more the custom world than the vest. But where does it come from? Why a vest? What patches and why? These new fans of motorcycles (they would begin to be known as “bikers”) ignored the provisions and pre-established regulations to compete; They organized their own “illegal” careers in the desert. The term “proscribed biker”, which has reached our days, descends from there. They were not really delinquents or members of criminal associations, but even so the term “outlaw bikers” was born.

With the birth of motorcycle competitions, the American Motorcycle Association (AMA) was founded in 1929. The AMA organized all kinds of championships and, among its competitions, was the best dressed motorcycle club. After the Second World War and the reincorporation of the military into civilian life, this perception of elegance begins to change. Mostly veterans, they start to dress in military clothes; the fighter pilots or members of aircrews in their aviator jackets and leather boots. These people returned home and it was very difficult for them to reintegrate into society, due to their traumas and scars of war. That’s why many of them decided to start competing with their bikes. They met again and together they tried to overcome their problems. The brotherhood they had found in the war, they found again in the biker associations. 16

In this context, the well-known incidents of Hollister took place (an issue that we will delve into in another edition) and that forged the legend of the famous 1%. They started using vests with patches. The large patch on the back is divided into three; a top patch (top rocker) in which the name of the club is identified, the central patch with the logo (colors or colors) and a lower one with the place of origin (bottom rocker).

The vest was complemented by other frontal patches that showed the range of the person wearing it, since all these groups (or the

majority) were nourished by war veterans. Still, nowadays, the ranges in the MC (Motorcycle Clubs) are still used. The vest is a garment with a great symbolic load, respect and pride, since it is the garment that carries its colors. But. Why a vest? Very simple, these groups wore their colors and emblems collectively, but the police presence or other rival MCs was not always convenient. The vest is one of the most comfortable garments for this purpose, since it can be worn over or under the biker jacket. If we look, MCs (not only outlaw bikers) do not usually wear more patches than those mentioned, since they only wear their colors and their ranges; but there is a part of the custom world that usually carry a multitude of patches and medals from different origins. This custom comes from Great Britain, from the time when rockers and mods made it fashionable to adorn the costumes, including motorbikes, with all kinds of badges and memories. Currently, there are groups that have dispensed with the vest. However, the vast majority continues to use it and for each one has its own meaning, with its patches and / or emblems. It has become a very personal issue, but it is important to know its history and meaning.

Health

By Isaac Castro

The bikes:

they are beneficial for health

If used consciously and responsibly, motorcycles are a safe way to get around. It requires being more attentive and aware of what goes on around you. You have to think more, but it is possible to relax and enjoy the trip. When you go to the store a couple of blocks or travel through nature, any biker will tell you that there is nothing like the engine noise below and the feeling of being “one” or “everything” with the bike. This is a lifestyle and a passion. It has a lot of health benefits that you will earn for each kilometer traveled. These benefits can be obtained both on the street and off-road, no matter what style you drive.

Mental perspective When people think about health, they tend to think about the physical and ignore mental health. Being a biker has physical, mental and emotional benefits. It does not matter if you drive on the street or in the open, it’s an excellent way to enjoy a physical exercise and clear your mind at the same time. Improve your mood. This is simple. Driving a motorcycle makes you happier and increases the production of endorphins. 18

Being a biker increases your energy levels and your mental perspective. This does wonders in helping you increase happiness and mental health, which, in turn, lengthen your life. Who would not like to live a little longer to continue riding on a motorcycle?

be a great help, but for others, with back or neck problems, it is like a therapy for these areas. Make sure the bike is adjusted correctly for you. Forcing the position of your neck will do a contrary job and you will not want your body to suffer any damage.

Abdominal strength and stability

Stronger knees and thighs

Just going out to roll and enjoy a beautiful landscape or going to a store near the house can improve the strength of your abdomen. Think about it. You have to work with your abdomen just to stay on the bike. A little wind and your body definitely has to get to work a little more.

It also helps you strengthen your knees and thighs. Individuals with knee or thigh problems may find a therapy on the bikes. It requires a use of the knees and thighs, but without forcing them much. Over time, you will begin to force the muscle mass while eliminating the pains.

Maintaining the correct position when driving also helps keep the body in shape and can improve muscle tone because it is a low impact exercise.

Burns fat

Strengthen your neck Riding a motorcycle also improves the strength of your neck. For some, this may not

Did you ever think that you are exercising every day while driving a motorcycle? This requires an effort, especially compared to driving a car. Just being a passenger on a motorcycle can burn up to 50 calories, how much does it burn as a passenger in a car?

We are bikers and our pleasure is not the destination, but the way. That makes the difference.

MOTO SERVices

It also increases the sensitivity of insulin. This will help your metabolism, which will make it easier to burn calories and store less fat. Driving is fun. It is quite an experience. You can enjoy all the health benefits without even proposing it. Now you can not complain, go out and enjoy your motorcycle!

VESPA NEW “There have been many studies done on car driving in the past. A car is a comfortable machine that does not activate our brains. It only happens when you cross a railway crossing or when a person jumps in front of us. By using more motorcycles in our life, we can have positive effects on our brains and minds. “ Dr. Ryutu Kawashima, University of Tokyo

For the pilots, things change. Your body burns 200 to 300 calories per hour. This amount varies depending on the terrain and the size of the body. It takes effort to maintain balance, maneuver controls and battle against the winds. With walks of one hour a day, five days a week and over the course of a year, approximately 65,000 calories will have been burned. You have to burn 3,500 calories to lose one pound of fat, this amounts to 18.5 pounds (8.4 kilos). Not bad and without going to the gym.

Gourmet

by Hiroshi Naganuma

Awake and the sun looks out the window. I feel it’s going to be a great day. On this occasion, thanks to Adriana Hinestrosa, we are not going to leave Bogota. The plan, “Forza Riders”. We headed to Carrera Avenue 24 # 73-43. Upon arrival, we find ourselves with a unique experience, for those of us who let ourselves be seduced by the passion for two wheels. In addition to the specialized care of the motorcycle, it is impossible not to be seduced by all the delights offered by the Moto-Club Café. It was not easy to choose between the succulent gourmet burgers (especially the Full Forza), the pizzas, the potato chips... Really everything is very good. Since then, it is impossible for me not to pass and savor some of their dishes, while sharing biker experiences. This without counting the different activities that are programmed: the biker cinema on Wednesdays, the shots or the conversations of biker experiences. Finally, I could not resist giving me a little taste in the accessories store, although I confess that I wanted to take it all. Riders, motorcycles, food, accessories, movies, friends, stories, experiences... What else can life be asked for?

The Route Bogotá - Manta - Bogotá by Hiroshi Naganuma

Tourism

For tourists, this tour is full of spectacular landscapes that only Colombia can offer. Lakes, rivers, mountains, asphalted roads, uncovered roads that are not complicated ... but, most importantly, people.

No matter where you are on the road for a drink or a meal, they will always treat you with a smile on your face and with the best attitude. It does not matter if the place is humble or elegant, the food is excellent.

Going out to shoot with Bastet (my bike) is a way to free myself. I never plan my trips, nor do I calculate the time. Always, before leaving, I take my 100% charged phone, turn it off and put it in one of my saddlebags, forget about it and disconnect myself completely. This trip was before I started with the magazine and the company, thinking about what I wanted to do with my life. It was a long journey of more than eight hours, but it freed me of many fears and I was able to focus on what I was looking for, what I wanted to propose to my partner: the advertising company El Motero. After several hours of traveling, I found a beautiful view, so I decided to stop and lie down on the bike to appreciate the beautiful lake. It was about an hour of relaxation. It was then that it came to my mind that this kind of thing is what 22

we have to share, the experiences. I remembered that whenever we travel in a group, wherever we stop, we end up talking about experiences. It does not matter if they are mechanical or handling techniques. It does not matter if Google has the answer. What matters is that another biker tells us his experience. I decided to continue my trip, while my head was everything. Experiences, passion, freedom, two wheels, the wind, the curves, the vibrations, the heat and the noise of the engine... After the dam of the Sisga (I later learned what it was called the place) I followed without direction, but my experiences of other shots and what I lived with Bastet were the basis with which this beautiful magazine was created. Live free, life to ride.

In Tocancipá, the restaurant Las Violetas (excellent quality and very agreeable to its price); in Sesquilé we have the Tominé reservoir and the Guatavita lagoon; we can not miss the Sisga reservoir either; the La Petaca lagoon in Manta; the El Osasis trout, after Gachetá; Los Yugos restaurant cafe bar in Guasca... These are some recommended.

Final Award of the Hare Scramble Andean Championship 2018 Hare scramble is a competition that has motocross and enduro on a single track, which varies in distance and time. For it, pilots have to complete several laps around a course marked by natural and rugged roads. The drivers are classified by their skill level and the cylinder capacity of their motorcycle. According to their ability, they are categorized into A, B and C, with A being

the highest level. A high level of progress is needed through the various categories. Many pilots can never progress outside of the C category of the competition, and very few have the skill and determination to move to category A. Knowing a little about the complexity of this sport, it is impressive to see the rise of athletes that we have met in this event. Children

The Movie One Week

by Martín Pérez

Directed and written by the Canadian Michael McGowan, this is a film full of drama and adventure. It is the story of Ben Tyler (Joshua Jackson), who is diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer, which warrants an equally aggressive treatment. Ben buys a Norton 850 Commando from 1973 and begins a trip (leaving behind his family, his job, his fiancée) trying to find answers to some questions, before starting the treatment: what would you do if you knew that you only have one day, a week or a month of life? What lifeboat would you grab? What secret would you say? What band would you see? To whom would you declare your love? What would you want to accomplish? Would you travel exotic for a coffee? What book would you write? A very deep film that makes many things think about life itself. Despite having incredible landscapes of Canada, his script is a work of art that will make you tear sometimes. A film that can not miss in your collection.
