We have already reached the fifth edition of more biker experiences. It is a hard job to have this magazine on the air, but when we meet our loyal readers and congratulate us or tell us they have learned something new... that is the fuel that fuels our effort and we move forward. In the next editions there will be more experiences with national and foreign guests from different parts of the world. We do not just look for Spanish speakers, the language is not a barrier. We will also look at more motorcycles of different cylinders and designs, because for us,
the bike is a motorcycle. We will continue investigating and testing all the myths in health, safety and mechanics that we share, since nothing comes out in this magazine without being checked for a while. All this in order that we can publish authentic news, functional advice and real lessons. We try that nothing is overlooked. In the streets we will continue to help as we have been doing day after day, sometimes we

want to be more and spend more time on the street, but our commitments do not allow us to do so. But in our free time or when we go to meetings, we do not leave a motorcyclist lying around. For us, the motorcyclist always comes first. Not being more, here I leave you with the fifth edition and a couple of redesigns, because we listen to them in casual meetings. We also added the technology section that many had asked us for. And, as always, Live to Ride.

Biker Letters Hello to all the readers of El Motero magazine. The first time I met this magazine was because of a strand I had on a Sunday in the Alto del Vino at 10 o’clock at night, the chain had burst. Luckily I was in an emergency whatsapp group and asked for help. Two minutes later, a motorcyclist told me that he could help me, that he happened to be drinking a red wine at the Terpel de la Boyacå pump and that he was going to take an hour to do the favor of putting the helmet on the floor. with the against the bike a couple of steps. I thought it was a joke, who was going to hit a tremendous trip just to help me? Said and done, bequeathed to the hour. He kindly introduced himself with an oriental name, which caused me curiosity.
He told me about this magazine while he helped me fix the chain with a chain lock that I had in my pocket. He also told me that he was free because he had just left the office... very curious this character. Being honest, I learned a couple of things in the short time we talked and I arranged the chain, very formal. I wanted to pay him, but he did not want to charge me, he really did it for the biker community. At the end of the night, I managed to get to La Vega to join my family. I told them and they could not believe it. I decided to go to the Facebook page, El Motero Original, and I found interesting the publications and the magazine that they have. It shows that they devote time to articles and research... you learn a lot.
I decided to write to them, not only to thank them for the saved bike (which I will remember for many years), also to congratulate them for the great work they do selflessly. You can see that in their work team they have a great passion for this biker culture. I also have to tell you that I got curious about the virtual mechanics course and I really learned a lot. I still can not believe it’s free. I hope I can gather a small group so we can learn a little more about our bikes. Again, thank you very much and keep it up, what a great job you are doing. ¿Suzuki DR Big 2020? It was speculated that it could be one of the 10 new models that Suzuki promised for 2020, along with the new Hayabusa, the GSX-R 1000 with new variable distribution and the Recursion 700 with turbo engine, in addition to a possible GSX-R 300 and some others that we still do not know... We talked about the Suzuki DR Big 2020, which had to be a replica of that incredible 800cc single cylinder (previously it was 750cc). It was evident that in the Big 2020 the engine would be two-cylinder, derived from the archiprobado V-Strom 1000. A couple of them have been hunted down an Italian street and shown in a ‘tweet’ of RideApart, and although they carry the classic
camouflage paint ( really the prototypes call more attention with the camouflage than if they were painted in a discreet black color) can be seen that they are Suzuki, with the bi-cylindrical engine in V at 90º LC and with an aesthetic that reminds a lot of the first DR Big. The headlight is rectangular like that (although it uses LED technology) and splices with the tank with a couple of openings similar to the Big. The swingarm is the same as the V-Strom and the fork looks like it, with the same radial clamps. The front tire is also 19 “alloy, and not 21” and radios. The two-time winner of the Dakar, Gaston Rahier, managed to win the Rally of the Pharaohs in 1988 with a DR Big 800.

Different types of safety standards for helmets 1. SNELL standard The Snell Memorial Foundation has developed more stringent requirements and testing procedures for motorcycle helmets taking into account racing activities, such as drag-racing, motocross, karting. However, buying a helmet that is Snell certified is completely voluntary. Snell standards do not replace local standards. Many motorcycle riders believe that the Snell certification is a better benefit at the time of purchase. This is because the SNELL standards allow more forces to be transferred to the head of a biker than the DOT standard.
2. DOT standard The official law of the United States states that all motorcycle helmets sold must be “certified” by the DOT. Helmets that do not meet the minimum standards of this certification can not be sold as “motorcycle helmets”.
Many countries have laws that require motorcycle drivers to wear acceptable helmets. Most of them have defined their own sets of standards that are used to judge the effectiveness of a helmet in an accident in order to minimize the damage caused by the accident.
The Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) provides the requirements for the “DOT” certification of all helmets sold in the United States.
Independent motorcycle helmet safety standards
The Economic Community of Europe (ECE) is in fact the most widely used safety standard for motorcycle helmets at an international level. ECE 22.05, required by more than 50 countries worldwide (this is based on NTC 4533). One of the advantages is the requirement to perform the mandatory tests of ECE 22.05 of the United Nations Economic Commission for helmets before their release to the public.
Below are some of the safety rules for motorcycle helmets issued by independent or private organizations. Snell - United States SHARP - United Kingdom ACU Gold - United Kingdom BSI (British Standards Institution) - United Kingdom
3. ECE 22.05 Standard
This means that the helmets go on the market complying with the ECE 22.05 standard thanks to the fact that in these countries they force the tests to pass before they leave the factories. 9
4. ACU GOLD standard In the United Kingdom, the Auto-Cycle Union (ACU) defines a stricter standard for careers than the minimum legal specification ECE 22.05. Only helmets with an ACU Gold tag can be used in competitions. Many bikers in the UK choose helmets with an ACU Gold tag for their day-to-day use.
What do these safety standards prove? Helmets sold in the market that have met certain requirements are subject to laboratory tests. Laboratory tests measure a helmet’s ability to absorb impact. The effectiveness of the retention system that keeps the helmet on the head and accessories such as the helmet visor. 10
What is the difference between them? These safety tests measured the performance of the helmets, as well as the ability to absorb the impact. However, the methods and requirements vary dramatically from one standard to another. In some countries, government agencies monitor and control compliance with helmet safety regulations. In other countries, the responsibility is left to the helmet manufacturer or the item distributor. Some laboratory tests are relatively simple and others are much more complex. It is important to keep in mind that none of the laboratory tests can accurately replicate the real impact that a motorcyclist could face in an accident.

No helmet designed for a particular standard can provide maximum protection for all types of collisions and no helmet can protect the biker from all foreseeable impacts.
What safety standard is approved for careers? Helmets that have the ECE 22.05 standard certification are approved for competition events by:
championship races on the road, motocross and off-road events, including the great world of Moto GP. Helmets that are certified for both DOT and ECE 22.05 offer the highest level of protection for the biker.
What type of standard helmet do professional riders use in MotoGP?
••AMA (American Motorcyclist Association) ••CCS ••FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) ••Formula-USA ••WERA (WERA Motorcycle Roadracing)
According to the MotoGP World Championship Commission (Dorna, FIM, IRTA, MSMA) Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Regulations 2009 page 65 Sporting Regulation 2.12.7 - “The helmets must be of the integral type and comply with one of the international standards recognized:
The ECE 22.05 standard is chosen by almost all professional riders competing in world
••Europe: ECE 22-05 ••Japan: JIS T 8133: 2000

••United States: SNELL M 2000
What motorcycle helmet safety standard is superior? There is not a single security standard that is superior to the others. These safety regulations are applied by the respective governments to protect motorcycle drivers. However, a motorcycle helmet with either of the two standards will provide protection to the motorcycle driver either a $ 100,000 helmet or $ 3,000,000 pesos.
Colombian Technical Standard NTC 4533 All helmets that comply with the norm NTC 4533, DOT and / or ECE 22.05 are allowed for national use. Remember that your safety is the most important and all these certifications seek to protect your life and that of your companion.
Remember that the chin strap must always be tight. Always look for a helmet of your size and buy them in authorized stores. These are some of the types of helmets that are allowed are:
1. CROSS HELMETS These should always be used with motorcycle googles to protect your eyes and ensure your clear vision of the road. Some advantages of using this type of helmet are: ••Greater freshness, since it allows a better air circulation. ••The sun does not directly affect the eyes, since its upper visor helps to diminish the sun’s rays. ••Suitable for the practice of extreme sports, such as motocross and enduro, among others.
2. MODULAR HELMETS The chin guard of this type of helmet must always be closed. It can only be opened when the motorcycle is not in circulation. Some advantages of using this type of helmet are: ••Greater freshness, since it allows you to refresh yourself simply by opening it. ••Allows you to request instructions easily or hydrated without removing the helmet. ••In case of accident, a folding helmet is easier and safer to remove by medical equipment.
5. COMPLETE HELMETS Some advantages of using this type of helmet are: ••Reduces air currents to be built with a single piece. ••Effectively protects all areas of the head. ••It can be used in all climates. Remember, it does not matter which helmet you choose (brand or type of helmet). The most important thing is to invest in a really good helmet, no matter what the cost. It is your life that is at stake and the difference between surviving or not falling is the helmet. Always buy it in authorized stores of the correct size. The advisors can help you with your size. Remember that, depending on what you invest, the change may last from 1 to 5 years.
3. OPEN HELMETS OR JET They should have padding that covers the ears and should always be properly fastened. Some advantages of using this type of helmet are: ••Greater freshness, allowing high air circulation. ••Great customization options for each style. ••Lightweight and easy to transport.
4. MULTIPURPOSE HELMETS Some advantages of using this type of helmet are: ••It is a helmet that mixes the best of the integral helmet with the cross, creating a very safe and great freshness option. ••Protects from the sun’s rays thanks to its integrated top viewfinder. ••It has an aerodynamic design, reducing the resistance to drafts. 13
MOTORCYCLE SAFETY

Maintenance:
These 11 maintenance errors affect your motorcycle... but also your safety!
Having a motorcycle does not just mean getting on it and moving from one place to another. Having a motorcycle and having it in good condition requires attention to several things and one of the main ones is maintenance. 14
Carrying correctly the maintenance of our motorcycle involves paying attention to several details that are often overlooked and that can affect not only the health of our travel companion, but also can directly influence our safety. There are certain very common mistakes that should be avoided at all costs.
1. Do not check the oil level One of the main mistakes that is made in the most basic maintenance of a motorcycle is not to check frequently the level of engine oil. It is a very simple and quick operation that can avoid many headaches. If our engine does not have enough lubrication, it will quickly be damaged, and irreparably. If we get to griparlo, part of the money that will cost us the repair, we will put ourselves in serious danger if it occurs in March.
the marked SAE. When in doubt, what should never be done is to mix different viscosities. This can generate bubbles to mix and heat that will systematically reduce lubrication, favoring premature wear and even breakage.
3. Do not check the coolant level For a motorcycle to work properly, you must always be very aware of the levels of fluids you need. If your bike is cooled by liquid, you should also check the coolant level, especially in times of extreme temperature, both cold and hot. If our radiator does not carry enough antifreeze it will not dissipate all the heat due in summer and that will affect the performance of our engine. In addition, if the level is too low it can be indicative that we have a leak, either through some sleeve or the radiator itself, through the water pump or even by a crack in the cylinder head.
2. Do not use the appropriate oil That the engine bears the right amount of oil is vital. But no less vital is that the oil is appropriate. Not all engines need the same viscosities and additives. There are motors that need specific oils to maintain their different parts in optimal conditions. For this, it will be enough to see the oil recommended by the manufacturer and respect
4. Tensioning and lubrication of the chain The chain of the motorcycle is one of the elements subjected to greater efforts and that more is overlooked in many cases. It is very important that it is well lubricated and with the perfect tension to minimize the wear of the entire drag kit, composed of attack pinion, crown and chain.
There are motorcycles with automatic lubrication systems, but in any case we must be vigilant. You also have to make sure that the tension is correct and regulate it when you have too much slack to prevent it from coming out, but being careful not to strain it too much to prevent splitting or premature wear.
5. Forget about the crown and the attack pinion In many cases, the crown and the pinion are the forgotten ones, because they are as important as the chain to transmit the force to the rear wheel. Due to the vibrations and the stress that they support, the screws that anchor it to the hub of the rear rim or to the sprocket are loosening. If we do not tighten them from time to time, the crown can be torn off the rim and cause serious damage to our motorcycle or to ourselves. A good trick is to use screw sealant. In this way, it will be very difficult for them to loosen themselves. You also have to check the condition of the teeth, if they are deformed, change them.
6. Do not check the wear of brake pads and discs This we must do especially for our security. Running out of brakes is an unpleasant feeling when you go on the move. 15
Apart from the serious danger that we will run, if we let the brake pads wear too much they will damage the surface of the disc and we will have to replace it with the consequent economic outlay. Crouching every now and then to check the thickness of the pills’ stoves will save us money and dislikes.
7. Do not clean the suspensions If our motorcycle has telescopic forks (conventional or inverted), it will have catches. And if you have oil seals to keep the oil inside the bar, they can crack or tear. One of the main culprits that this happens is the dirt that accumulates in the overalls. If we clean it regularly, the seals will be in good health for much longer. If they break, the oil leak can also force us to change the brake pads in the event that they become impregnated. Therefore, giving a little cleaning to the suspension bars is always a good thing. There are small specific tools to carry out this operation and they are very cheap. 16
8. Do not go over the main screws A motorcycle is a machine and as such, it is exposed to great vibrations. These vibrations, with the passage of time, cause that the screws of the chassis and rigid parts are loosening little by little. If we do not squeeze them from time to time, we run the risk of loosening and eventually falling, leaving parts of our motorcycle loose. This usually happens in screws of the body, handlebars, controls... Spend a few minutes to check that the screws that we see are tight always will be good.
the time are equally important. If we melt any, we will quickly be at risk. It is vital, literally even, to make sure that our bike is visible to all other road users. Taking a small look before getting on the bike will allow us to know the status of the optics.
10. Do not check tires 9. Do not check the status of lights The lights of the motorcycle always have to be on so that the rest of the drivers see us, and others even if they are not connected all
It seems very obvious and from the authorities there is a lot of emphasis on the tires. As we all know, the tires are responsible for our bike having grip on the asphalt and therefore,
are responsible for our safety. But it’s no good having good tires if we do not make them work at the right pressure. It is very simple, just consult the manufacturer’s specifications to see the pressure they need. If they are below, they will not work well, they will prick easily and will be destroyed in a short time. If they are above, they will be able to burst and they will skid a lot earlier besides doing to the address imprecise. And remember that we always take measures when cold. Not only the pressure is important. We should also look at the wear * beyond the depth of the drawing. In some occasions, the tires ** although they are not very worn are cracked. This cracking is very dangerous and as soon as it is detected, it should lead us to change the cover in question. We must also check that they have not crystallized acquiring a rigid touch and hard plastic appearance.
11. Do not read the owner’s manual It seems stupid, but not read the owner’s manual is something that in any case will play in our favor or to our motorcycle. The manufacturer is the one who best knows the motorcycle and we must follow carefully all the maintenance advice that it offers us. It costs nothing to take a look at the manual and plan maintenance following it. And you know, spending more time with our motorcycle helps us to strengthen ties and get to know it better and then enjoy to the fullest all that it can offer us. 17

Lubricants: All you need to know
Once you start your motorcycle, the oil brings the motor to life. It is a fundamental part of the mechanics of your motorcycle. We have compiled a series of tips that will help you better understand how your motorcycle oil works 18
The tires put your motorcycle in contact with the world. If you do not take care of them correctly, however well you have the rest of the components, you will not be able to extract even the smallest part of the potential that “your dear” allows you. Something similar happens with the oil in your engine, because if you do not take care of it properly, the heart of your motorcycle will not work at the right performance, even “dying”. Engine oil not only lubricates the main components, but also reduces wear and discharges the heat that the engine and clutch produce. Following the pneumatic-lubricant parallelism, one might think that if an oil is capable of dealing with the performance of a 4T MotoGP, it would be ideal for the motorcycle you have parked in your garage. The answer is no. Lubricants for street bikes must meet targets that are out of competition and they have been designed to be used in reduced time periods. It’s as if you used a slick for every day. And if it rains? What if you have to make a trip of many kilometers? Not to raise it. Here are some keys provided by specialists such as Motul, Castrol or GRO that will help you understand that the lubricant of your engine is one of the most vital sections of your motorcycle and in which you must put more effort to maintain it correctly.
1. How often should the oil of a 4T motorcycle be changed? If your bike uses a relatively small amount of oil and serves to lubricate the engine, transmission and clutch, it should be changed more often, not exceeding intervals every 2,000 km. If the oil only serves to lubricate the engine and its content is about three or four liters, it is advisable to change it every 5,000 km. In terms of its useful life, it is normal for
brands to guarantee their products up to two years after their production date.
2. Are there differences between the lubricant of a motorcycle and that of a car? Most 4T cycle bikes have gearboxes integrated in the engine block. In this way, the oil lubricates the propeller and the gearbox, for which specific additives are required in relation to a car and, in addition, do not penalize the operation of the so-called wet clutches. In cars, the lubrication system is specific for gearboxes or clutch, which are not lubricated at the same time as the engine. Likewise, lubricants for passenger cars have not been developed to supply the densities capable of withstanding the high powers of modern motorcycles. In the case of motorcycles with dry sump, the lubricant of the engine must lubricate and protect the gearbox and protect an engine that reaches high temperatures, protection that with a lubricant for automobile engines can not be provided.
19
3. What is the difference between a synthetic lubricant and a mineral lubricant? It is said that a lubricant is “mineral” when its base comes from refined crude oil. For its part, synthetic lubricants use bases made by chemical reactions. The process for obtaining a synthetic lubricant, compared to that of a mineral oil, is more complex and, therefore, more expensive. However, synthetic products have superior properties, such as resistance to oxidation, which allows them to be used under very severe temperature conditions and / or for a longer period of time between oil changes. The semi-synthetic oils are obtained from the careful mixture of a mineral base and a synthetic base. This produces, at a reasonable cost, high properties, since these oils retain the high performance characteristics of the synthetic base.
4. What function does the lubricant filter perform? The lubricant filter prevents the drag of foreign particles and debris when operating the motorcycle 20
normally, elements that can cause damage to the propeller. If the filter is clogged, it can reduce the lubricant flow and the final engine failure.
5. What do the denominations 15W40, 5W40, etc mean? These are SAE viscosity grades (Society of Automotive Engineers) that classify 4-stroke engine oils in relation to their hot and cold viscosity characteristics. These grades are defined as follows: ••A degree in cold or in winter, followed by the letter W. For example, 15W. ••A degree in heat or in summer. This figure comes after the winter qualification. For example 40. The lower the winter grade number (0W, 5W, 10W, 15W, 20W, 25W), the more liquid the oil will be kept at negative temperatures and, therefore, it will be easier to start the engine in very cold weather. The higher the summer grade number (20, 30, 40, 50, 60), the more viscous the oil remains at high temperatures (100 ° C) and, therefore, provides more protection to the engine during heavy use.
gearbox and clutch.
8. Can you mix oils of different brands? Current engines are usually designed to operate with a SAE 40 hot oil viscosity. In winter, in temperate countries, a SAE 15W cold degree is sufficient to facilitate starting. A SAE 15W40 oil is, therefore, suitable for temperatures between -10 ° and + 40 ° C.
6. Can the same lubricant be used if we are facing extreme weather conditions? Yes. By using multigrade lubricants, which include components that allow high performance, it is possible to get the oil, even though cold, to properly lubricate the engine, without evaporating or burning when it reaches high temperatures.
7. What consequences can the use of a very dense lubricant have? Modern engines have been designed to use lighter lubricants. Therefore, denser lubricants can reduce the final performance of the engine,
The oils for 4-stroke engines are compatible and susceptible to mixing, although it is advisable to maintain the degree of viscosity.
9. Can you increase the performance of a motorcycle using a different lubricant? Yes. By reducing internal friction and mechanical retention, lubricant can increase engine performance and performance. Something that, in most cases, we can achieve using low viscosity lubricants that optimize the friction.
10. Why do some manufacturers advise low viscosity lubricants? Because they help the engines save fuel. Its use has been extended because they have been developed thanks to the advancement of its manufacturing procedures. 21
My Bike By Anonymous biker

Before talking about this bike, I would like to tell you a little about how I get to this bike. Since I entered this world, I have always liked the scooter line, for its ease of handling. My first bike was the well-known Yamaha BWS 125. I had it for 2 years
and it seemed like a motorcycle that did its job. From the house to the office and from the office to the house... until I started going out with friends on a motorcycle. There came a time when it was hard for me to reach them and they had to wait for me. The time came when I had to change my bike, and I was very sad to go out with them for my motorcycle. At that moment my second bike arrived, the SYM Joymax Comfort 300, a motorbike that surprised me for its comfort and power. In those moments I knew I was going to have it for a good time, at least more than with the BWS. The funny thing is that it was not like that. It was a story I saw on the internet about the launch of the Honda X-ADV at the EICMA... it made me curious. I had already heard about the systems of exchange by a friend who had the NC 750, added to its design. For this reason, I decided to take the risk and spoke with the people of Honda of the 126. They treated me and advised me very well with respect to the bike. Being such a new product, I had to wait several months... until it arrived in Colombia. I decided to buy it with some of its
accessories. The moment they gave it to me was when I got on it for the first time. The seat is not very tall, but it is a little wide. With my 1.75 meters, I reach the floor, but nothing serious. It was at that moment that I understood what I had bought. The number of buttons, the number of options, the system of changes... the chain... a chain on a scooter. That had never been seen. After an hour of induction and to explain everything I had the motorcycle... I went for a walk around the city. My first impression was the power... Although it has the manual mode and 3 sport modes, I decided to use it in automatic mode, while I got used to it... but I did not want to get off of it. I was very excited. To be honest, I had a lot of intrigue about the Rizoma footrest that I bought additional to the bike. I saw many videos that showed me what this girl is capable of doing... so I decided to go out and shoot with a great friend, Chucho, who has a Twin Africa. I did not tell him about the motorcycle, I wanted it to be a surprise. The moment he arrived and I showed him... his face was “What is that?. I could not stop laughing. I told him a little about what this scooter was capable of 23
and, since he has several uncovered driving practices, he wanted me to teach him a couple of techniques to take advantage of this bike. He accepted, but on condition that he was allowed to prove... clearly, I accepted. That weekend we went on the road to a place that he has to practice (I do not remember what his name is). A route that usually goes some weekends that has no plan, just to practice. Going on the road on this bike is amazing. It feels very good the aplome that has and gives a lot of confidence to take the curves. The response of the automatic system is incredible. When we overtook the cars, if the motorcycle was in low revolutions, it gave a blow of gas and automatically lowered a change to deliver all its potential. The road experience was very good, but the best was about to begin. When we arrived, I lent the motorcycle to Chucho, so he could take a ride and know how far he could go 24
with it... it was incredible to see him drive my motorbike. I saw him skid, go fast, jump... do things that I would never have thought of doing on a scooter (the truth is that Honda created a new segment in the world of motorcycles). When Chucho finally got off the bike, I saw him surprised. He told me that he had never imagined driving a scooter like he does with his Africa. Of course, it is not at the same level, but because of its suspension and type of wheels, it is achieved. Then I understood that my options to get out had been increased thanks to the bike. Now my limitations are in my knowledge and management techniques. After a couple of weeks with Chucho... rather a whole month, I started to master the off-road driving with my “scooter. I understood the
theme of the footrest and the good purchase I had made.
25
I also started to understand the world of Adventure bikes, without leaving my world of scooters. Every day that I go out with her, I say “the best decision is to buy this bike”. Little by little I also started to play with the changes. The curious thing about this bike is that in the automatic mode you can raise or lower the changes and the bike accepts it, and it continues to make the changes. Now, in manual mode, it also has its technology. By the time I started using manual mode, I obviously forgot to make the changes 26
(because of my scooter mentality). The funny thing is that the bike itself gets the change that happened to me. Definitely Honda took her out of the stadium with this system. This bike gives me a lot of confidence and it extended my chances of going on a trip, regardless of the terrain. Now that I know what the X-ADV is capable of, my little great warrior, I want to advise with Honda to put some bars to protect the motorcycle a bit more, a metal mesh in the lighthouse (if it has one, like the one they put him in
the BMW) and, suddenly, a couple of porters to take a trip. This bike has become my daily use and my means of escape for the weekends. After so much time, I’m still learning from her and I’m still learning to master it in uncovered terrain. I still do not know what the limitations of this bike are, because despite everything I have learned, I still feel that I am the one who limits it. What if this is that this bike will stay with me for a long time.

How much does my motorcycle consume? When do I have to change the oil? When do I have to buy the insurance? Is there any way to know this?
There are many applications that exist in the market but few are the ones that really work. After 3 years of continuous testing, I found one that is my favorite: Drivvo. A great advantage is that you can drive several vehicles with this application (be it car, motorcycle, bus or truck). This means that you can control several vehicles. The control of expenses is done through the odometer. If you are going to take gasoline to the motorcycle, you tell him where it was, the price per gallon, whether you filled it or not, how much you spent... the program does everything else. You have 6 options to enter: income (in case you earn something with the vehicle), service (when you do maintenance such as oil change), expenses (such as insurance or luxuries), recharge (every time you make gas), routes (I’ve never used it) and, the most interesting, reminder. The reminder is the most interesting, since we can program by kilometers (such as oil changes) or by time (such as the purchase of SOAT or Tecnicomecånica). 28
So far I have only used the free version on Android. It has some publicity, but I do not find it as annoying as in other applications. Really for bikers who are interested in knowing how much is spent per year on a motorcycle or if they are clueless (like me) and tend to forget the purchase of insurance... this is your App.

Lights:
The importance of lighting
There are multiple studies on the DRL, from its acronym in English, Daytime Running Lights. 30
Many think that the norm is a simple whim of the government. The simple fact of carrying the lights on a motorcycle seems absurd. The funny thing is that this rule has been studied for many years worldwide. Let’s start with the study conducted by the United States Department of Transportation. According to the results, more than 50% of accidents between motorcycles and other vehicles have occurred during the day. According to accident reports, drivers have not been able to see the motorcyclist. Based on numerous field tests and laboratory studies, it has been shown that motorcyclists who drive with the lights on are more visible than those who do not. According to the analyzes, it has been shown that its visibility increased from 53.6% to 64.4% (tested with a 40W lamp and a 180mm headlight). The results also confirmed that two headlights or one greater than 180 mm is much better than smaller ones. These studies continue all over the world, to such an extent that the laws have been modified to keep the lights on during the day. In a few countries the same rule applies to cars. As absurd as it seems, these studies that have been done since 1960, say the opposite. Having the lights on gives us a chance to be seen during the day. The studies also reveal that the larger the headlights or the motorcycle has 2 headlights, they are more effective. Visibility is improved with light changes (high and low). We must bear in mind that at the time these studies were made, the technology in lighting was basic, we are talking about incandescent lighting. We currently have different types of bulbs that provide us with superior lighting quality. But, with the light bulbs, the design and materials of the reflectors have also evolved to disperse light from the bulbs. But this is a topic that we will discuss in our next edition, in the workshop section.
31
Now that it has become clear to us that the lights are important for our safety, we also have to consider another couple of factors for the safety of others. First of all, we must learn to calibrate our lights. Normally, in the manual of our bikes, we can know which are the screws to raise,
lower, move to the right or to the left our main lighting. Once we have this point clear, we must put the bike in front of a white wall at a distance of 8 meters. We measure the height of our lighthouse with all the equipment that we usually carry and we mounted on our motorcycle; omitting any of these things the light varies. On the wall we put a horizontal mark with tape from the height of the center of the headlight to the floor; This is our first guide. Now we mark another line 5 centimeters below, this would be our second brand. Taking our bike completely perpendicular to these marks, we sit down and turn on the low light; the beam of light must be below the bottom line on the wall. The high light, therefore, must be below the upper line. With this process we make sure we have a good lighting quality and it is one of the factors why we are not going to blind the vehicle that comes in front of us. As a safety recommendation, it is better to walk with the lights low. The highs should be used when required in dark places and never use when a vehicle comes in front or we have another vehicle in front. This lighting can blind them and lose the visibility of the road, causing an accident. Auxiliary lights also provide us with a clear view on the road, but it is another extensive issue that we will discuss in our next edition, in the Motorcycle Safety section. There are different types of lights with different purposes, which, poorly selected, would be a waste.

Infraction: D08 Charge: 30 SMDLV ($828.116) Driving a vehicle without lights or without the position, directional or brake lighting devices, or with any of them damaged, in the hours or circumstances indicated below, in addition, the vehicle will be immobilized, when two (2) or more of these lights. a) Do not have the exterior lights turned on after eighteen (18) hours until six (6) hours the following day, and when the conditions of visibility are adverse or in the hours of exception fixed by the traffic authorities; b) Do not have the average light in the urban perimeter, and make use of scout lights without being oriented only towards the surface of the road, when these are placed below the vehicle’s defenses or when they are units integrated by the manufacturer in the set of front lights of the vehicle; c) Use full or high light, outside the urban perimeter, when approaching a vehicle in the opposite direction or when the authority indicates it by means of the corresponding traffic signal, or when the full light reaches a vehicle that transits forward and could disturb its driving; d) Do not use the directional signs of your vehicle to make a turn or to change lanes. In case of emergency, and in the event of the impossibility of using the directional signals, do not use manual signals; e) Do not use the corresponding intermittent light signal when stopping your vehicle on public roads, do not step on the right side of the road and carry out maneuvers that endanger people or other vehicles.

MOTORCYCLE ASSOCIATIONS MOTO GROUP (MG)
Whenever this topic is going to be discussed it is important to ask that it be treated with great respect, for anyone who really knows the MC world 34
A Moto Group or MG is a motorcycle club whose members accept a series of rules, although similar to those of an MC, in no case as strict. It is not easy to generalize about the type of club that is an MG, since their aspirations and norms are very different from each other.
Structure of a Moto Group An MG club would be the first step to becoming MC (after his passage as a GANG club). However, this type of clubs can remain Moto Group for life if they decide. Some are created with the interest of eventually reaching the MC degree, while others are only founded for the recreation of its members in the Biker world, without further pretensions. The Moto Group or MG usually have positions and hierarchies equal or very similar to the MC, and the access of new members to
the same one, comes to be similar; that is, it requires a prospective time to become full members, although we repeat that it can vary greatly from one MG to another. The colors of these clubs are usually a round or oval patch of a piece stitched in his vest, which usually wear the acronym MG. MGs are usually sponsored by a local MC or at least they are sympathetic to some. To those who support and help when they are required to do so. The Moto Group or MG are also known as family clubs, where even unlike an MC, women can belong, with the same rights as men. Another important difference is that the requirements of the type of motorcycle or minimum displacement required to enter the club are reduced. 35

5 TIPS:
PROTECT THE HEALTH OF MOTORCYCLISTS
Todos sabemos la importancia de llevar el equipo de motocicleta adecuado, tener la capacitación necesaria y estar alerta en la carretera. Pero, ¿alguna vez has considerado el efecto que tiene el motociclismo en tu salud? 36
hearing problems. Noise levels of 100 decibels become harmful to the ear after only 15 minutes of exposure. A motorcyclist experiences 100 decibels of wind noise at just over 70 mph (110 km / h). This means that if you drive on a highway for more than a quarter of an hour without wearing earplugs, you are permanently damaging your hearing. We have heard people say that they do not use earplugs because they block important sounds and make them less conscious. Another myth Earplugs do not block sounds like sirens, traffic and horns. Ear plugs work by reducing the overall sound pressure and filtering harmful frequencies so that your ears can operate in a more natural range. It is not the earplugs that prevent you from hearing critical things; It is the noise of the wind. Filming can be good for the spirit, but it is not always good for the body. These are our five main tips from El Motero experts on how to protect your health and enjoy your trip even more.
PROPOSE YOUR HEARING
The use of earplugs will do three things: protect your hearing, allow you to hear important sounds and reduce fatigue by noise that in turn keeps you more alert for longer.
THE BEST LID-HEARTS FOR THE MOTORCYCLIST Tom suggests: “If you are looking for a pair of disposable ear plugs, be sure to look for higher decibel rates, such as the Oxford Earsoft FX, to make sure your ears have the best protection.
You may think that if you have a quieter motorcycle, you do not need hearing protection. This is a myth. Although the noise from a motorcycle is a contributing factor, the biggest risk is wind noise. Even when you wear a full-face helmet, driving a motorcycle exposes you to harmful noise levels. Currently there is no helmet on the market that has a noise level low enough to not need hearing protection. As a result, motorcyclists can be very prone to tinnitus and long-term
of earplugs with integrated precision filters reduces wind noise and tires without filtering out important traffic sounds and allows normal conversation with your companion. Pinlock earplugs are excellent value for money. “
LOOK FOR YOUR BACK Different motorcycles facilitate different driving positions. Standard and cruising motorcycles offer a more neutral and vertical driving stance, while sports models require a more aggressive position. As a general rule, a motorcycle that allows a vertical driving position is less likely to put tension on the lower back and wrists. But, ultimately, it depends on the style of motorcycle that suits you and the type of driving you do.
STEPS TO REDUCE BACK PAIN Whichever model you choose, you can adapt your motorcycle to your ergonomics to reduce pressure on the back, shoulders and neck. The three areas that can be adjusted to suit the motorcyclist are the handlebar, the seat and the footrests. Visit a specialist who can adjust your motorcycle to your body type and driving style. Another common cause of back, neck and shoulder pain among drivers is tension. One way to detect if you are tense is if you are gripping the handlebar with too much force. This tension is transferred from your hands, through your arms to your shoulders and neck. Make a conscious effort to relax your grip and lower your shoulders. Very soon you will notice the change.
“If you’re using a communications kit, a set 37
STRETCH TO REDUCE THE PAIN OF THE ANTI-BRAKE EXERCISES TO REDUCE NECK PAIN Tilt your head from shoulder to shoulder, gently but continuously. Exhale slowly with the movement and exhale completely when your head reaches your shoulder. Inhale before moving your head to the other side.
EXERCISES TO REDUCE THE LOWEST BACK PAIN While sitting on your motorcycle, remove one hand from the handlebar and stretch towards the back of the seat. Gently turn it to feel a relaxing stretch in the back. Then, repeat on the other side.
38
Stretch the wrists by stretching the left arm and pulling the fingers back with the right hand: once you raise the palm of the hand to the other and another to the palm of the hand. Repeat on the other side.
additional protection, but also provide back support, especially on longer trips. “
THE BEST PRODUCTS TO REDUCE BACK PAIN Jonny informs us: “If you use a backpack, then it is worth investing in one with a good harness system that moves the weight properly, such as the range of Kriega backpacks. Likewise, a decent strap on the back protector like the Forcefield Pro L2K will not only offer
UPGRADE THE SEAT OF THE MOTORCYCLE The seats are made to fit the motorcycle, not the motorcyclist. Therefore, it is not surprising that many of us experience coccyx pain and prostatitis problems during longer trips.
If you do not feel comfortable in the seat of your motorcycle, consider changing it for something that best suits your body and offer a more relaxed driving experience. It will reduce those annoying pain points and it is also an excellent way to increase travel time.
MORE COMFORTABLE SEATS Memory foam and gel inserts are good, but can get hot during a long trip. Air-filled inserts, such as Airhawk-specific motorcycle cushions, are much better and fresher. They come in a range of shapes and sizes depending on your needs.
muscle cramps, loss of concentration, drowsiness and nausea, each of which can cause shock. When planning a long trip do not forget:
really important. Having a clear visor for the helmet means that it has better visibility and also reduces eye fatigue.
1. Wear ventilated clothes to keep cool 2. Wear layers that absorb sweat 3. Get a hydration pack to drink safely during your trip. 4. Program breaks on the road and takes fluid in each one. 5. Avoid too much caffeine at your stops
Any activity that requires intense use of the eyes for a long time or in difficult conditions can cause eye fatigue, which can cause headaches and blurred vision.
THE BEST HYDRATION PRODUCTS FOR MOTORCYCLISTS Keith suggests the Kriega Hydro 3 hydration pack or the Kriega Hydrapak reservoir to keep you hydrated during your trip.
CHANGE THE HELMET VIEWER? Trev advises: “There is no established pattern about how often you should change a viewer, it’s just common sense. Keep it clean using products like Muc-Off Helmet & Visor Cleaner and get a new visor when the current one is visibly scratched. “ Not sure how to change your viewer? The stores offer visor and helmet exchange services on site. Simply go to your favorite helmet store and request the service.
KEEP HYDRATED It is recommended to drink two liters of water a day to keep the body hydrated. This is easily done, but maybe not so much on a motorcycle. We know that the hours can disappear as easily as the kilometers under your tires. Motorcyclists are vulnerable to dehydration due to the effect of wind drying and constant exposure to the elements. The dangers of dehydration are headaches, disorientation, heat stroke,
ALWAYS HAVE THE CLEAR VISOR It may seem simple, but make sure you have a clean and scratch-free visor on your helmet is 39
Gourmet

Although it came out in the last edition, we wanted to come back to know a little more about this place. We are not wrong The first day we wanted to try the lunches that they offer and, truthfully, they are a delight. A different presentation with a seasoning at the height of the great chef’s. Very good quality at a very good price. But the best was at night. We came casually to the launch of the eighth season of Game of Thrones, the series that has given much to talk about. Luckily we arrived early, because the place was full and closed the doors to see the chapter without interruption.
40
We decided to accompany the series with some mojitos without alcohol, recommended, and we shared a pizza of half Mexican and half Mediterranean, tasty both flavors. It was an amazing night, excellent food and the chapter... up to the place. Topping the night, they offered us the throne and the crown to take pictures and I have to say that the throne is incredibly well done. One feels as if he were in the series, waiting to command the army of the great kingdom. If they have not gone yet, they have to do it. And if they are fans of Game of Thrones... it is necessary that they go to see a new chapter of the series and take a picture on the throne.

Bogotá - Villa de Leyva - Puerto Berrio Girardota - Zarzal - Espinal - Bogotá This is one of those trips in which the purpose is to get lost from the world. Return to basic. Phone off and stored in my suitcase. Only my bike, the road and me. I woke up overwhelmed by so many things, I left my house, while I warmed the motorcycle I saw for the sky and the weather indicated clear sky towards the north. This is how this trip began. For those who do not know me, I am one of those who travel without destiny and without planning, this is how I have met many people along the way. This is how I have found my true freedom. 42
When my trip began, I had not planned the time or distance, simply one thing leads to the other or, as Charly Sinewan says... “the plan is that there is no plan”, “let’s see what the Writer has prepared for us “ After 4 hours on the road, I arrived at the village of Villa de Leyva, with the great surprise of meeting an old friend. He had planned a trip to Puerto Berrio, so I decided to accompany him. We had a soft lunch to catch up on the gossip and went on an adventure. A fun stretch of curves.
When we arrived in Puerto Berrio, I said goodbye to my friend and decided to go to a camping place that was recommended to me. I went straight to Barbosa and I turned off at the junction of Yondó... after 20 minutes I arrived at the Suan River. The next morning, I realized where I was, an incredible place with a river where you could fish. I took a few minutes while I had my coffee to appreciate this place. When I reached the intersection again, I saw for the sky and decided to continue to the right.
Tourism Rio Suan: It has a pleasant temperature of 20 to 27 ° Celsius. In addition, the bathroom has an excellent fishing! Although the river is very serene it is good to take precautions with children and be careful because you can grow unexpectedly.
Casa Terracota: It is considered the largest ceramic in the world. It is located outside of Villa de Leyva and is made entirely of clay by the architect Octavio Mendoza. It is a house of 500 square meters in which 400 tons of mud were used and was cooked by areas with an oven that the architect designed to seal it as if it were a clay vase.
The road took us to Girardota. I remember that a friend recommended me to visit a restaurant called La Barra. I tried the Queen Bean Casserole... it was too much. Too good and too much. A casserole with beans, sausage, bacon, chicken, ham, legumes and shrimp in a sauce with parmesan cheese... Very recommended. Before continuing my trip, I decided to go to the town square and take a break under a tree on my motorcycle. Of course, the police asked me what I was doing, I told them what I ate and they let me sleep for half an hour more, they understood. I left like at noon. I decided to do a long stretch on a motorcycle, with a full tank, until I found Zarzal. Asking to get to the ecology complex Leña Verde. Place where I could camp to rest.
La Barra: Good place to share a moment with special people, enjoying a dish made with typical ingredients from the area and served in a gourmet way. Very good ambience of the place which generates a pleasant feeling of familiarity and comfort. Staff attention in a special way. The recommended dish is the Cazuela de Fríjoles Reina.
The next day I realized this incredible place. Quiet with many options to do... rides, horses, pool, lake... rather. I had a small breakfast (tray paisa) rest and left again. Again the route took me to the Espinal, where I decided to have some lunch. I met another old friend of routes and decided to have lunch in a place that they recommended us... Lechonería La Autentica. We came to the conclusion that it was the best suckling pig we have ever eaten... until now. Both fans of the pig, we could not pass up the opportunity. Again we take route both for Bogota. Once this great adventure was over, I turned on my phone and thousands of messages came to me everywhere. Back to the routine.
Complejo Eco-Turistico Leña Verde: If you are looking for tranquility, fun and relaxation, Leña Verde is the perfect place. Comfortable and complete cabins, a varied and exquisite menu; the tranquility that gives you being in contact with nature and a beautiful forest the best fun for both kids and adults. The best care provided by a select group of boys and girls trained so that all their guests are fully satisfied.
Lechonería la Auténtica: The department of Tolima, in addition to feeding us with the tamale, also feeds us with one of the most famous preparations in the country: the suckling pig. The municipality that has become famous for the preparation of this dish is the Espinal, in the north of the department. In good times, this municipality was recognized for its rice and commercial tradition of the bonanza, which was the flagship flower of the municipality, however for reasons that do not concern us at this time, the municipality turned largely to the sale of this dish so Creole. It is estimated that only in the department of Tolima more than 20 thousand people depend on this business. Pig farms, cooks, restaurants, transporters, among others.

We know Norman Reedus for his work in “The Boondock Saints” or the much-loved series “The Walking Dead”. But he is also known for being a biker passionate about motorcycles and the freedom that is felt in them when traveling the roads. This is what “Ride with Norman Reedus” is about, traveling on his motorcycle through different parts of the United States together with a special guest for his adventures. Reedus once confessed that, in order to get out of trouble in his youth, he worked in several motorcycle shops and workshops; That was the beginning of the love he has for adventure on two wheels. It is a different theme where he shows us great passion and camaraderie in this wonderful world, without forgetting the great landscapes that Reedus and his guests share with us. After so many years and so many experiences that he has had in an endless number of bikes, Reedus gives us a little advice that is: “Have fun, just get out there. And do not chew gum with an integral helmet. You will bite the inside of your mouth. I do it all the time. [Laughs] I’m a slow learner. “ 44
