Biker Letters My name is Sandra Lee and I was killed on August 23, 2003 by a right-of-way violator. It’s hard for me to be patient with people who say “it was just an accident.” I had to consider my death and that matters. Everything that happened has consequences and is irrevocable and irreversible. Since I am the one who died, I think the truth is due. I know you didn’t want to kill me, but you did. The truth is that it didn’t take you five seconds to look twice before turning around. You could have saved my life! The truth is that you were not paying attention. You just didn’t see me. A very real truth is that more than two thirds of motorcyclist deaths are caused by drivers, not motorcyclists. When a person dies, it is a tragedy, but when more than 2,000 people die across the country, it becomes a statistic. The unfortunate truth is that a lane change, a casual operation of the red light, an inconvenient phone call or an unattended left turn on the driver can, and in my case, lead to death. The truth is that the motorcycle community strives to educate the public that drives on the presence of motorcycles on the road. We are putting up posters and trying to get attention in the media. We are pressing state governments to increase sanctions for violation of rights of way. The saddest truth of all is that our message continues without being heard by the general public. There is an attitude of indifference

against motorcyclists. My life was reduced to a ticket for a violation of the right of way. Perhaps, the person who killed me will be charged with death by vehicle. Probably, however, the insurance company and the lawyers will get the reduced charge to a right-of-way violation ticket. For them, the value of my life will be reduced to a fine of $ 25 dollars. The truth is that “misdemeanor” and “death” should never be used in the same sentence. The truth about that violation is that my life was lost. I can no longer be a wife, mother or grandmother. Because you see, sometimes when you kill a motorcyclist, you also kill a family. My husband understands that you didn’t want to kill me, but you did. The truth is that cars are softer and more comfortable to drive. It is easy to forget that you are moving two tons of steel and plastic along the way. Inside that car of yours, you had airbags, seatbelts and anti-lock brakes to keep you safe. I guess a collision with a 600-pound motorcycle was not very threatening to you. Now you understand or at least I hope you understand that one more look, just five more seconds, could have saved my life, The truth is that there is an attitude of indifference on the part of our legislators and our judicial system regarding issues of violation of the right of way. They may not understand how vulnerable I was. Perhaps no one believes that motorcycles have as much right to

be on the road as other means of transport. It is time for legislators, prosecutors and judges to understand that when it comes to motorcycle drivers that cause motorcycle crashes, most of these “accidents” can be prevented. I’m dead or I would tell you these things myself. The truth is that it is ironic that they kill me for a violator of the right of way. I spent the last year of my life pushing to increase penalties for right-of-way violators in Raleigh. The truth is that legislators were more concerned about the legal and insurance ramifications of the higher penalties. The truth is that over the centuries, every minority on earth has had to fight for equality and it seems that now is the time for more than 100,000 motorcyclists in North Carolina to stand up and demand that they have the same rights as Everyone else on the road. I hope the final truth is that, from this day forward, he will tell everyone that he knows that if I had only looked twice, if it had taken five more seconds, I could have saved my life.

Spread the word. Motorcycles are everywhere.

Noti-Flash Bajaj-Triumph partners by the end of 2019 After 3 years of negotiations, the points to work together on new bikes for both brands are already being finalized. The benefits for Triumph is to have motorcycles of less than 800cc, with the possibility of having single-cylinder motorcycles. For Bajaj the possibility of having motorcycles of more than 400cc and increase the amount of cylinders per engine. What we can deduce is that it will not be very different from what Bajaj has with KTM, in the sense that Bajaj puts the work capacity and Triumph the technology.

Nolan is bought by 2 Ride Holding, the Shark group Negotiations began almost a year ago and it became official: the Nolan Group becomes French. Group 2 Ride Holding, which already owns the Shark, Bering, Bagster, Segura and Cairn brands, has bought the Nolan group responsible for producing the Nolan, X-Lite and Grex brands. With this operation, 2 Ride Holding becomes one of the largest groups in the market for pilot equipment. The purchase must be approved by the antitrust authorities, but we are talking about a group that is billing 150 million and has a thousand employees distributed in more than 80 countries. All Nolan Group companies manufacture motorcycle helmets together with the N-Com helmet 6

communicator. The Shark family consists of brands that produce helmets, bags and suitcases for motorcycles, and equipment for driving motorcycles. Adding Nolan helmets to your portfolio has the potential to strengthen and expand your offers. The purchase would not change anything in this regard, since production will continue to be done in the Italian town of Brembate, in the province of Bergamo. Nor does it seem that there will be any change in management, Enzo Panacci will remain the CEO and the other positions will continue to be filled by the same people. The goal is to maintain everything so far, to ensure that the products continue to be of the same quality.

The only difference is that Bajaj will not be a Triumph shareholder as it is with KTM. The truth is that this union will strengthen both brands in a segment that both do not possess. That said, surely both brands will have surprises with new models for the EICMA of 2021. The truth is that this union will not only benefit them. At the end of it all, we are the ones who are going to have the opportunity to use these bikes. Now we can only wait and see the surprise of this union.

Ducati 2020 This year’s EICMA will be full of surprises. The Borgo Panigale brand will not be left behind. These developments have been discovered officially or by spy photos.

On the other hand, we have found the tests of a new model, the Panigale V2 with a single arm swingarm and tires similar to the V4S, but with a radius less.

One of the confirmed ones is the Streetfighter V4, which will be one of the stars for the Ducati World Premiere 2020, says Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati.

Another one that will be present in Milan will be the Monster Anniversary, which turns 25 years old. The teaser that Ducati showed a few days ago (a motorcycle hidden behind a red case) corresponds by forms to a Monster, possibly the 1200th Anniversary.

With the Panigale engine, we also find the Multistrada V4. The truth is that Domenicalli himself warned us that more models equipped with the new V4 engine would arrive.

Klim F3 Carbon If there is something that Indian Motorcycle has done well, it is to kill in flat track races. The company has competed with the FTR 750 there with great success, and now wants to do the same with the FTR 1200. The FTR 1200 Hooligan bikes you see are the bikes the company will use. They are very modified versions of the FTR 1200. According to Indian, the company worked closely with S&S Cycle, its official partner for dirt track racing, to build these two motorcycles. S&S took the motorcycles and modified them with new leaks, license plates instead of the headlight, new handlebars, removable front brake, suspension settings for the driving position and numerous

measures to save weight. Holligan FTRs seem to be ready to face any dirt track in the world at excessively high speeds. Special parts and components include a FOX FTR 1200 racing shock absorber, a shorter S&S swing arm, Pro Series Protaper bars, a lighter lithium-ion battery, carbon fiber racing seat tail, Roland wheels 19-inch Sands Design and Dunlop DT3 flat track race tires. While the regular and street production version of the FTR 1200 pumps my blood, these flat-trackready machines are the real deal. It will be interesting to see if they can have the same success as the FTR 750. 7

Biker Security

Kneepads: Are they necessary for our day to day?

Motorcycle knee pads are considered as an essential protection element that will adapt to the knees in different ways to achieve the security we need. The material in which they have been manufactured will vary significantly, as will its price. In any case, we are lacking to carry, even a basic kneepad, which does not carry any type. 8

The knee pads are protections that provide different levels of reinforcement and fixation to the knee in various ways. The material in which they are manufactured also varies sensitively, as does their price. In any case, it is always better to wear a basic knee brace than not to wear any. Keep in mind that knee injuries are the most frequent injuries among motorcycle users. The knees are a fundamental part of the body, and their injuries, in addition to painful ones, are quite complicated and expensive. They can cost you up to $ 23,000, and you may have to be in operation and pain for years. We don’t tell you this to scare you (after all, the risk is everywhere), but to consider that the knee pads can save you a lot of trouble in a simple way. There are prices and models for all tastes, needs and pockets. Knee models could be classified as follows: ••By level of reinforcement: basic, advanced, elite and knee brace with reinforcement. ••Specific knee pads: for arthritis, for injuries. ••By style: pull up, wrap, strip, magnetic, neoprene or articulated. Regarding the cost issue, you have knee pads below $ 100 in the basic ranges, and you can expect to pay $ 600 for a specific one (orthopedic), or more than $ 1,000 for a knee brace designed specifically for your leg. It is important that you value your needs and do not settle for a knee brace that will be insufficient or uncomfortable. It is money well spent. 9

Some examples of average prices are: ••Donjoy Defiance III Custom, custom knee brace with the latest orthopedic technology, for $ 1,000. ••Asterisk Cell 2 R, with integral support corset, for $ 450. ••Bionic SX, with aerodynamic knee, shin and thigh coverage, for $ 80. ••Fox Titan Sport Knee, to start in the sport, with plastic protection in knee and shin, for $ 20 dollars. The articulated knee brace is the best tool to reduce pain and provide stability. The knee brace 10

joints prevent the knee from hyperextension (which bends too much), being a good weapon against ligament tears, and it is that in this sport (for motocross, enduro or similar), the force that the Muscles goes to the ligaments. The knee pads are as useful for protection as for recovery. They serve for the before and after the injury. Although knee races are not usually used in speed races, they are essential elements such as the helmet among motocross riders, for which protection is essential. Good knee pads for this sport should include these elements:

••Polyaxial joints: the more the kneepad moves like your knee, the better. ••Long structures with the joint located behind the middle of the knee, to provide greater protection. ••Protection on the front of the knee, affecting the point of the tibia. ••Protection above the knee. ••Good mooring ••Good extension stop. The knees are a fundamental part of the body, and their injuries, in addition to painful ones, are quite complicated, protecting them is an act of biker intelligence.

CE STANDARD OF KNEES IN 1621-1: 2012 EN 1621-1: 2012 “Protective clothing against mechanical impacts for motorcyclists. Part 1: Protectors against impacts on joints for motorcyclists. Test requirements and methods ”has been approved by CEN (European Committee for Standardization) on October 27, 2012. The members of CEN are subject to the Internal Regulations of CEN / CENELEC which defines the conditions which must be adopted, without modification, the European norm as a national norm. The corresponding updated lists and bibliographic references related to these national standards can be obtained from the CEN Management Center, or through its members. To encourage the adoption of certified protection by as many users as possible, two levels of performance are specified. Level 1 for protectors designed to provide protection with few ergonomic disadvantages associated with its

use; level 2 for protectors that provide greater protection with respect to level 1, however, there may be a weight and restriction disadvantage associated with protection level 2. Impact tests are performed under several conditions: ••Impact at room temperature ••Moisture impact ••High temperature impact ••Low temperature impact Level 1 protectors withstand impacts equal to or less than 35 kN average, while those of level 2 less than or equal to 20 kN average. A homologated protector must have the following legend:

2. Category and type of protector; “S”, shoulder; “E”, elbow and forearm; “H”, hip; “K”, knee and upper area of the tibia; “K + L”, knee, upper and middle area of the tibia; “L”, leg area under protector “K”. 3. Impact test at low temperature passed (blank if not declared) 4. High temperature impact test passed (blank if not declared) 5. Performance level.

Motorcycle Safety By Isaac Castro

The brake system: How does it work, differences, benefits?

Many times we sit with our friends to talk about motorcycles and we talk little about the different types of brakes that each motorcycle has. Radial or axial Caliper, types of brake pads... let’s find out a little more about the subject. 12

Your motorcycle’s brakes have a hard job. We, the bikers, expect a firm pull of the gas to release its maximum speed in less time and distance than what the engine was built for. What is surprising is that it does. Take for example the BMW S1000XR. From a stalemate, it accelerates to 160 km / h in 6.1 seconds and 152 meters. However, it slows down until it stops completely in just five seconds and in less than two thirds of the distance. This impressive performance is due to the power and resistance of the modern hydraulic brake system, which consists of the following components.

MASTER CYLINDER Whether operated by your right hand or your right foot, this converts the mechanical force into hydraulic pressure through a lever that acts on a piston that presses a fluid. The force with which you pull the lever, the lever leverage ratio and the piston size of the master cylinder determine the amount of pressure imparted in the system, which can exceed 150 psi.

BRAKE LINES These multilayer hoses transmit the pressure from the master cylinder to the calipers and generally use an inner teflon liner surrounded by a braided

nylon, Kevlar or stainless steel reinforcement layer that is then wrapped in a protective coating. The stronger the hoses, the better, since any expansion under pressure will reduce the braking force and feel. Because rubber hoses lose their resistance over time, most manufacturers recommend replacing them every four years.

BRAKE CALIPER OR CALIPER The brake caliper is where the multiplier power of the hydraulics comes into play. Since the pressure applied to a confined liquid is transmitted without decreasing and with the same force to all surfaces within the system, the pressure of the master cylinder is exerted uniformly in the much larger area of the caliper pistons, It increases strength in many cases.

BRAKE PADS If any part of the brake system deserves sympathy, it is the pads. Its job is to convert the kinetic energy of your motorcycle into heat by means of friction. And we want them to do it silently, repeatedly and without getting too hot. It is not uncommon for the brakes of a street motorcycle with aggressive driving to warm up to 180 ° C, while the pads and discs of a racing motorcycle can exceed 320 ° C.

BRAKE DISK (OR DRUM) Brake discs or drums transfer the resistance to movement of the brake pads to the wheels and to the tire contact patches. The discs are usually made of stainless steel, while the drums are lined with cast iron. Both materials provide a durable and heat resistant surface for the brake pads to press. Modern brake discs are relieved and / or punched to help cool and help to shed water and debris. 13

Caliper axial or standard

BRAKE FLUID This is the elixir that allows everything to happen. The brake fluid is responsible for transmitting force from the brake lever to the back of the brake pads. It must be non-compressible to effectively transmit the pressure, have a low viscosity to be compatible with the ABS components, have good lubrication for the master cylinder and gauge cylinder seals, offer corrosion resistance and also have a point of boiling very high. Brake fluid is available in four grades: DOT 3, 4, 5 and 5.1. DOT 3, 4 and 5.1 liquids are glycol based and miscible, while DOT 5 is silicone based and cannot be mixed with any other type of liquid. Glycol-based fluids are hydrophilic and will attract and absorb moisture from the air. DOT 5 fluid is hydrophobic, but due to repeated heating and cooling cycles and imperfect sealing of master cylinders and calibrators, all fluids will eventually ingest a certain amount of water. The difference is that glycol-based fluids will remove moisture from the air by themselves, while DOT 5 will not, which means that DOT 5 has a much longer lifespan. 14

If you are thinking that DOT 5 sounds really attractive right now, think again. The costs, as well as the compressibility and viscosity of the fluid, make DOT 5 not suitable for daily use. So why does it exist? It was created for the military to use in vehicles that will be parked for years at a time. Harley-Davidson used DOT 5 until a decade ago, but now specifies DOT 4. The classification of a fluid has little to do with its chemical composition. Rather, it is based on the boiling point of the liquid. The Department of Transportation sets the minimums for the “dry” and “wet” boiling point of each grade, with the previous state completely free of moisture and the last one with 3.7 percent water, as is common after a year of regular use DOT 3 fluid has the lowest minimum dry boiling temperature at 205 ° C (140 ° C humid), while DOT 5.1 has the highest values at 270 ° C (180 ° C humid). As the previous temperature values suggest, any water content in the brake fluid will reduce its boiling point. Boiling the brake fluid will make the brake lever feel spongy and the

Caliper radial

braking force will decrease. This condition is known as brake fade or, more specifically, fluid fade. Replacing the brake fluid regularly (most manufacturers say every two years) will help ensure that their brakes always work in the best way.

RADIAL VS. AXIAL, MOUNTING CLAMPS What is the difference? What is the benefit? Almost all modern sports bikes have radial-mounted brake calipers, and the general consensus is that they are better. But why? First, the difference between radial mounting brakes and regular (or axial mounting) brakes: radial brakes are secured by bolts that are parallel to the brake disc compared to bolts that are perpendicular to the disc face as in Traditional brakes Radial mounting generally offers better alignment between caliper and disc and is significantly stiffer than axial mounting. A stiffer configuration produces better contact between the pad and the disc to improve power and, more importantly, a better lever feel.

FRICTION RATINGS EXPLAINED HH-rated pads are the strongest brake pads you can buy, but do you have any idea what those two Hs mean? The letters indicate the friction index and refer specifically to the friction coefficient of the disk, with the first letter quantifying the CoF at a normal operating temperature and the second letter indicating the CoF of the pad at an extremely high temperature of 344 ° C. G and H ratings are common for motorcycle brakes, with a G rating that offers a CoF between 0.45 and 0.55. H is the highest rating available and corresponds to a CoF of 0.55 or higher.

your wallet. Disadvantages include a shorter service life (compared to semi-metallic or sintered pads) and discoloration with aggressive use. Organic pads are most commonly found on older motorcycles (before the 90s), on smaller modern motorcycles and for later applications on some larger modern machines.

CHOOSE YOUR FLAVOR The breakdown of the brake pad material The choice of brake pads is as varied as the options at your local ice cream shop. Here are the three most popular flavors. ORGANIC: These pads lack metallic (and asbestos) content and instead mix rubber, glass or Kevlar materials in a heat-resistant binder resin. Organic pads are the softest and therefore the quietest option available and are exceptionally easy to use for discs. They are also cheap for

SEMI-METALLIC: These pads incorporate some metallic material (usually from 20 to 40 percent by volume) in the friction material to increase the level of friction and durability of the pads and to improve the resistance to fading in intensive use . These pads were invented as cars and motorcycles grew faster, which required stronger and stronger brake systems. Semi-metallic pads remain quite quiet, disks do not score as much as all-metal sintered pads, and are a popular choice for a variety of motorcycles.

SINTERED: The name refers to the production process, which uses extreme heat and pressure to cement the metal powder (usually bronze) on the support plate. Sintered brakes have a very high coefficient of friction and excellent heat transfer, which makes them ideal for aggressive use and racing. The disadvantages are the price, the increased wear of the disk and the fact that they generally require some heat to perform at their best.

The breaks: Brake system maintenance

When we press the lever or the brake pedal it is the pump that causes a multiplier effect of the force exerted and this is thanks to the brake fluids moving with a certain pressure through the ducts. 16

Luckily, checking and caring for a motorcycle’s disc braking system are fairly simple tasks. The brakes are one of the parts of the motorcycles that suffer the most wear. We must bear in mind that its basic operation is that two parts enter friction and it is this, which makes our motorcycle brake. Therefore they are subject to continuous wear.

Types of motorcycle brakes The brake systems can be disc or drum. The drum, are a system older than the disks. The drum system is currently used mostly in small-capacity, low-power motorcycles or scooters since the discs are more effective, but also more expensive to install and manufacture. The first advice we are going to give is about disc brakes. You have to “gently roll” the brakes when the motorcycle is new or the pads are. This consists of performing soft braking. It’s simple, it’s just a matter of making gentle braking, without squeezing the lever too much during the first kilometers of our motorcycle or if we have just changed the brake pads.

THE reason is very simple. As it is two parts in friction, when performing this maneuver smoothly, we force the pad that rubs on the disc to adapt to the surface of the disc that does not have to be exactly the same, since the discs have small ones grooves and pills become flat. The second tip is cleanliness. When we wash the motorcycle, we can pay special attention to the brake calipers and discs. A basic rule, never touch the motorcycle’s brake discs with dirty hands and less if they are dirty with oil or grease. We can spray the tweezers and discs with some degreased and rinse it very well with water. Then the drying is done with pressurized air and review the area with paper to ensure proper drying and cleaning. But let’s not forget to take special care with the contact with the discs. One of the basic maintenance tasks of the brakes is to observe the compartment where the brake fluid goes. Recall that the disc brake system is usually a hydraulic system. As we use the brakes, the pads wear out with this use. * Important to have the motorcycle manual to answer any questions. The brake fluid will go down because as the thickness of the pad is reduced, the pistons that push the pad will have to go out of place to compensate for this wear. If we see that it indicates that it is at the low level that is indicated in the deposit compartment, we will have to fill it out. In the lid of the tank it will indicate to us what type of brake fluid is the one that must be added, normally it will be DOT-4 but DOT-5.1 is also usual.

17

Let’s be careful with this detail and do not take anything for granted. When filling it, we must take special care since this liquid is corrosive, so we recommend that we put absorbent paper around the tank to avoid problems in case of spillage.

Maintenance of motorcycle brake discs One of the problems that we can find in the disk system, is that precisely these, the disks, have suffered some improper wear or have suffered some blow. If the problem is due to wear, these will have warped or slightly deformed. We will notice it on the brake lever because it will give us small taps when braking butt. We should check them if their change is necessary. But the most serious problem is if they have been deformed by a blow, by not removing the brake caliper (something very usual) 18

when leaving or by a fall. They can also be deformed by overheating. If we see that the brake discs are deformed, we must change them immediately, it is a matter of safety. We have the possibility of putting the originals or the auxiliary industry, which are usually somewhat cheaper, this at your choice. We can find that, when braking, we feel the touch on the spongy handle. It is the clear symptom that air has entered the brake circuit. As we said before, most disc brake systems are a hydraulic system. Therefore we have a tank, a liquid with its path, a pump that maintains the pressure and some pistons. This problem is solved by purging the braking system. In the clamp we will find the bleed and bleed screw that we must open so that the liquid comes out while we introduce the new liquid. It is a process in which we must be very attentive, since if it is done badly, we will have

air inside the system again. In another article we explain how to do it.

Hard touch in the brake way Finally, as a problem that can be found in the brake disc system, is that the touch is too hard and the braking efficiency has dropped significantly. This is because the brake pads have hardened or, as they say, have crystallized. It is usually because they are very old or because we have abused strong braking and because of the heat they have hardened. We can disassemble the motorcycle brake pads and with a fine sandpaper, clean them, but if they are old, even if they are well sized, it is advisable to change them. Since it is not only a matter of thickness, but a deterioration of the tablet. If we reach this point, it is highly recommended to take advantage and perform a thorough cleaning of the tweezers.

How to clean the motorcycle’s brake calipers

caliper and therefore the motorcycle does not brake.

We must be very careful when performing this task but it is not difficult. It consists of cleaning the brake calipers of the motorcycle with some specific product for it and that we can find in many centers of spare parts of the car. We will press the handles so that the pistons come out and thus perform the cleaning more thoroughly.

Drum brake maintenance

The big problem we can cause is to dirty the discs, we must take special care at this point. Once you clean the calipers with their pistons, let’s make sure that they are dried correctly with paper. A single drop can mean that we dirty the

Finally, even though drum brakes are less used, we are going to comment on their maintenance a bit. This system is mounted on small displacement motorcycles and some custom model for aesthetics. They are much less effective but not for that reason they are not excluded their maintenance. The basic maintenance consists in simply tensioning the brake cable as the shoe that rubs against the drum is worn away.If it is convenient

every 10,000 kilometers, make a thorough check. This consists of dismantling the wheels and cleaning shoes and the area of rubbing inside the drum. The shoes can be cleaned with a fine sandpaper to remove all the dirt that has accumulated while braking. If we see that they are very worn, we must change them. We hope that with these basic tips on the maintenance of the brake system of a motorcycle, you can perform these tasks more easily because again we have to remember that it is probably the most important safety element of the motorcycle. 19

My Bike By Henrry Crew

HENRRY CREW

In 2017, I decided to take on the challenge of becoming the youngest person to go around the world on a motorcycle, alone and without assistance. 20

My name is Henry, I am 24 years old and I am in the south of England. I have been obsessed with motorcycles from an early age and since I passed my exam in 2013, I have driven almost every day. In 2017 I decided to take on the challenge of becoming the youngest person to circumnavigate the world on a motorcycle, alone and without assistance. After about 10 months of planning, many setbacks (including the cancellation of my motorcycle) and a steep learning curve, I left Bike Shed in London and started my 381 day trip and more than 50,000 miles through 35 countries. I returned home on April 19 2019 at the age of 23 years.

GS1200 or the Tiumph Tiger, because they are very big. I was looking for something that looked good, something that would inspire me to keep riding every day, and show people that you do not need a big or expensive bike to be able to have an adventure.

My passion began a long time ago; when I was 19, I had the opportunity to get a driving license. I am the first member of my family to have a motorcycle. Three years later, I began my adventure around the world.

Before starting this adventure, I had to plan everything for 10 months. Choosing the route seems simple at the beginning, but when you try to get the visas and some procedures are difficult, you have to change the route and it becomes a little more complicated. Visas are the most time-consuming, so you can only apply for one at a time, since they keep your passport and they keep it for a week while the entire process is done. After this week they return it to you and you have to go fill out another form and apply for another visa. I only needed 9 visas for my trip, but it has been the part that has consumed me the longest.

At the beginning I was planning short trips, a month or two months, because I was working so hard that I did not have time to organize such a long trip. But one day, while I was working, I read an article from a guy who had the record before I got it. That was the first time I saw the age of the record and that was when I decided it was the only way for me to make a great motorcycle trip. My family, at first, did not believe that I was going to make this trip, since I was with this idea for so long, that they did not think it would happen. No one believed me when I said it, because everyone thought it was such a crazy idea, everyone thought it was just a dream. But, with two weeks to go before the trip, they began to panic. I decided on the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled, because it is more a double purpose motor than normal. I was determined that it was not going to be a typical motorcycle adventure, like the

During my adventure I had to change the clutch starting the trip and I had a little problem with the oil pump during the trip. But apart from that, it has been the usual maintenance, especially of bearings, because of the difficult conditions that we had to go through after so many kilometers, something really typical in the wear and tear of a motorcycle.

To get the estimated time for visas, I had to spend a good time planning the trip with Google Maps and calculate the time of entry and exit of each country; to average the time that could be in the motorcycle every day and the distances that could cross with those times. Although most visas are for 30 days, the time was sufficient to make the trip; some give it longer, others for a little less. You have to balance everything, you have to balance how long it takes you as a minimum and at most and get a visa on the average date when you are going to be at the borders. 21

I had to say what day I was planning to entering in Russia, Pakistan and Myanmar (Burma) In these 3 countries I had to say the date of entry, which was quite difficult, since I was a little behind when I started with the trip. I traveled as a month later than planned, but my visa for Russia was still for the same period of time, so I had to travel a little fast to recover that time. Many of the people you meet during the trip are incredible, but the best part of my trip around the world has been in the Himalayas in India. I have known so many people during the trip that I could not choose one in particular. Most did not even drive a motorcycle. I was just random people during my adventure. Many people I could meet before the trip through Instagram, which can then meet in person. They told me that when we go to that country we can eat something or just share a ride together, which I could do that and it was very good to do it. 22

I feel that social networks are a very good tool for this type of travel, since 70% of the time I have stayed with people I’ve met on social networks, which has been incredible. It is so expensive if you have to pay for a hotel, therefore, the only way I could do it was by staying in places where I was invited by people I knew on social networks and camping for as long as possible. As for security, I have not always had to camp, I have also been in hostels, which are very cheap, like in South America. I managed to get hostels for about $ 5 dollars, where I could get my bike and it was safe too. Especially in South America, because I could find an incredible place to camp and from time to time it started to rain. So in this region I have spent with people I met on Instagram or in hostels. I loved Colombia. I could not be in Bogota, but I’ve been in Cali, Medellin, Cartagena... that was where I left for Panama. I have been to a few countries that have told me they are dangerous

and then you realize that it is not like that. Many people believe that South America is dangerous, but I have realized that this is not the case. By then, when I arrived in Colombia, I was already calm and I knew I was going to be fine and I did not have to worry about my safety. I felt a bit uncomfortable in an area in Medellin, but in the rest of the country I felt very safe. Really in the country where I felt most insecure was in North America, in the United States; because everyone has weapons. There is so much poverty, more than in other parts of the world, many homeless people, many problems with drugs and... it is dangerous.

The funniest thing is that everyone in the United States thinks that Mexico is super dangerous, that South America is super dangerous... But nobody in Mexico or South America works in the streets with hidden firearms, or driving all day because they are very afraid to walk in the streets. You go to the United States and you realize that everyone is armed because they are afraid that someone will kill them.

economically I had to save to be able to afford the trip. I spent around $ 20,000 for this one year trip. I am still paying a small part of this money that they lent me. I tried to make it as cheap as possible. The most expensive thing has been to move the motorcycle between the continents. They are established prices that you will not get cheaper.

Many parts of the world, especially in Pakistan, Iran or India, if you are a tourist, consider you as a guest, so people treat you very well and they will not attack you because you are a guest in that country... While in The United States does not care, anyway, they’re going to steal you.

Crossing a border is sometimes difficult, sometimes it’s easy. The biggest problem I had was that the bike, because Ducati had lent it to me, in the papers it says it’s Ducati and not my name, so when I crossed a border, they thought I had stolen the bike. So that was a problem, but overall it has been easy.

At the beginning, when I was planning this trip, I thought I could have sponsorship from big companies to finance this trip and they want to give you free things, just like Ducati lent me the bike to make the trip, but nobody gives you money to afford trip. So

One of my best memories is probably in Australia, when I went out to ride the motorcycle on the beach and it was on a beautiful beach. I do not know why I’ve always had the dream of being on the motorcycle on the beach, so when I was in Australia, I went to fulfill that dream.

24

The hardest week was when I crossed from Iran to Pakistan. When you enter Iran you can not change money there, you have to put it in the country in cash. So I practically ran out of money on the last day. But I thought that everything would be fine, because I’m going to cross to Pakistan and there I can have money again. But that day, precise, they closed the border early, for a religious holiday they had. So I had to sleep in the offices of the border in Iran and I thought that the next day at 7 in the morning I would cross the border early without problems and everything would be fine. But it turned out that none worked in the morning, until noon. Well, I was finally able to cross the border, but in Pakistan I had to have an armed police escort to cross Pakistan. So I had to follow these trucks with two people with machine guns driving in front. Also, it was 52 ° C, so it was hot... and since we were late for the city, there was nowhere to sleep, so they took me to jail and I slept on the roof of the jail.

I had to replace the clutch in Kazakhstan. The replacement took about a month to arrive. When I was in India, my wheel bearings broke, so I went to the market and bought some bearings that were compatible, they did not even have the stamps on the packaging, they were already open. It was terrible. I had a problem with the oil pump in South America and Central America. I had a horrible sting in Peru; The tire was destroyed, which I had to take down the mountain, then I met some people who helped me put the bike in a truck and get to the nearest city to fix the problem of the tire. I think it was called “La Venta, I do not remember very well. They fixed me. The bike has behaved very well. When I crossed to Costa Rica, they did not want to let me take out the motorcycle, because the papers were in the name of Ducati. But since I had some customs papers that said I was in charge of the motorcycle, they let me take it out. In Mexico I had the same problem. I had a letter

from Ducati that said there was no problem traveling with the motorcycle, it was notarized and everything, but the agents said that I needed a letter saying that I worked for Ducati... and I do not work for Ducati. It was about 2 or 3 in the morning in the UK, so I could not get a new letter. They told me that in the letter I only needed that line, which worked for Ducati. So I went to the offices, I took my laptop the photoshop and I showed them, then they said, ready, no problem, you can enter... The truth is that everything would have been easier if I had the documentation that said the bike was mine (even if it was borrowed), since in many countries they do not speak English and my letter was in English. You also have to keep in mind that some police do not want to learn the language and made things difficult. Another thing that I have tried is to learn the language of some countries, the basics to survive.

Russia was the most complicated. Although many times I bought a sim for the phone in the country and used Google Translate to communicate... really very useful for these cases. Really with knowing the words hello, gasoline, food, bath and bed, with that you survive. Technologically, I used my phone for the entire trip, the GPS with Google Maps has worked quite well for me. I had, basically, my phone, my camera, my laptop, a motorcycle, camping tent and a sleeping bag, simply simple. The essential thing for me was clothes that could withstand the weather, warm gloves and the warm liner of the jacket, so when I was in cold places I could hold on for longer. 25

During the trip you do not realize that you are changing. When I arrived in England, I realized that I had not changed much, but things felt different. I also realized that I had more patience for some things. If you manage to survive a full day waiting at the border to get through, it takes a lot of patience. Really when you make a trip of these, for one is not so difficult, since you are driving all day and knowing new things, as you are always busy. It must be more difficult for those who stay than for the one who travels. But it really feels good to go back and meet everyone again after a year. I met my girlfriend in Australia. I met her on the trip. He has been here for a month and he left for Australia again. She is also a biker and is a volunteer of a place called Kustom Kommune, which is like a DIY motorcycle membership with which, you buy a membership and go there to perform maintenance, reform your motorcycle or just spend time with the the rest. There they put the tools and everything you need. 26

Of all the countries my favorite is Australia, but if I made a trip for 10 days, it would be the Himalayas in India. It’s crazy I love the Himalayas, but India is a very intense place to swim, it is very stressful, and I would need a break of 5 or 10 years to be able to drive there again jejejje. I do not plan to travel again around the world, suddenly later. If I take a trip, it would be something of a couple of months instead of a year, because it takes you a long time to return to

your normal life. Yes, I would definitely do it again, but I need a little rest. As I like to shoot in different styles, I would have the 1995 Ducati 900 Supersport, for my street bike. It would also have the new Yamaha Tenere, which will be released in September, as an adventure bike. And, then, I think I would feel happy. Well, I would also like a Harley, but the truth is that I do not have much space or money to keep them jejejeje.

The maps you need from the place you want, in your pocket and free internet. How many times it has not happened to you that you go on a trip and, from one moment to another, you run out of internet and, therefore, without maps? Maps.me (formerly MapsWithMe) is an application for open source phones and tablets for Android, iOS and Blackberry that provides maps downloaded from OpenStreetMap. It was developed by Yuri Melnichek in 2011. Since November 2014, after the acquisition by Mail.ru Group, it is part of the My.com brand.

The big advantage is that the maps you need, you can download before the trip. I have tried it both inside and outside of Colombia and it has always worked for me without any problem. Download the maps through a Wi-Fi connection and we are ready for the trip. Another advantage is that you can save your phone’s battery by leaving it in airplane mode and only leaving GPS enabled.

Additionally you can create an account to update map data such as new stores or address changes.

Features of Maps.me:

Initially the application was paid with a free version with limitations. In September 2015, the source code of the application was released.

The app also includes a search engine where you can find addresses, places and categories of establishments (restaurants, hotels, gas stations ...) all without spending a mega of the internet connection.

I have used this application for more than two years and I must say that it is an application that cannot be missing on my phone.

Route planning is also possible, placing pins or markers on the places you want to visit and later you just have to navigate to them.

28

Another interesting fact is the possibility of seeing the description of the places you are going to visit, setting aside a hotel room, the schedule to see if it is open or closed... rather, it is like having a Google Maps offline.

••Local data (under own compression) ••GPS support for local navigation ••Local search by name, address, category (including emojis), zip code and coordinates ••Route calculator for cars, bicycles and on foot without Internet connection ••Voice assistance (synthesized only) ••Point of interest viewer, with opening hours,

telephone, Wikipedia article and other services ••Integration with Booking.com for hotel POIs ••Point of interest editor, changes are reflected on the Openstreetmap website ••Markers with pins of various colors ••Importing bookmarks in KML ••3D view with buildings ••Night mode ••Route tracking with automatic zoom and orientation ••Share location.

Reflective Garment: Despite the order, security is first

What every night passenger needs is to be visible to all road users. 30

According to the National Traffic Code (in Colombia), article 94 “General rules for bicycles, tricycles, motorcycles, motorcycles and motorcycles” obliges us to: “Drivers of these types of vehicles and their companions must wear reflective vests or identification jackets that must be visible when driving between 6:00 pm and 6:00 am the next day, and provided visibility is poor”. It

should be clarified that the reflective vest harness is legal to use, according to the statement issued from the Office of Legal Affairs DITRA, of the Ministry of National Defense - National Police - Directorate of Transit and Transportation (S-2019-009644-DITRA), was given the Order to all section chiefs, area heads, groups and advisory offices of Transit and Transportation, by means of which it states: “… Currently there is NO regulation that prohibits the use of the harness reflective vest. Strict compliance”. This order is issued and signed by the Brigadier General - Carlos Ernesto Rodríguez Cortés - Director of Transit and Transportation. Driving a motorcycle at night can cause a state of grace

that is not possible during daylight when the roads and streets of the world are congested by traffic. Open roads, empty corners and the relative lack of treatment of guided four-wheeled missiles that are handled regularly can allow one to really enjoy the trip on their own. The main problem with this: darkness, or lack of light. Motorcycles are small, especially viewed from the front, compared to cars, and this means they can be difficult to see at night. Most have only one headlight and only a few use running lights and large, reflective elements. Motorcycles are also more vulnerable than cars and trucks; We are outdoors, exposed to the world. This fact makes it more important for us to make sure they see us, for the simple need of self-preservation. What every night passenger needs is to be visible to all road users. Since the motorcyclist constitutes a large part of the profile of a motorcycle on the road, outside of painting your entire motorcycle with electroluminescent paint, the operator is the place where passive visibility can be improved more significantly. For this purpose, here are ten highly suggested clothing and apparel items that every biker should use to be as safe as possible and as visible as possible, when you go out on two wheels at night. In this guide we cover the following reflective equipment for motorcyclists:

1. Reflective helmet

When you ride a motorcycle at any time of the day, the helmet is the most prominent piece of equipment that a motorcyclist uses. Of course, it is important that the helmet protects your head from the elements and impacts in the event of a crash, but it should also stand out. Bright colors, busy graphics and high visibility elements are much better than a flat black cap at night. Select a helmet that attracts the attention of the drivers around you and your visibility will greatly improve. Also, make sure that any helmet you buy has a clear or enhanced vision mask so you can see others, just as they can see you. That shield must also be new or at least scratch free. At night, a striped shield will scatter incoming light and make it difficult to see. Also, remember that temperatures drop during the night, so heat and anti-fogging attributes will help your ability to drive safely. 31

1. Reflective jacket

temperatures of the night. Coatings, both standard and heated, and the ability to seal incoming air are good for this.

2. Reflective vest

for the purpose of safety. They are usually neon colors and many use extensive retroreflective materials, which makes them perfect for nighttime visibility. As with most military developments, these have become widely available to the public. Given its purpose, you can’t go wrong if you use one of these to keep yourself visible.

3. Reflective pants

Apart from the obvious characteristics that any motorcyclist needs in a jacket (protection, comfort and maneuverability), when traveling at night you will benefit from the use of one that is bright and easy to see. Select a jacket that suits your needs and desires. Buy in a color or pattern that attracts attention in the dark. Many models incorporate retroreflective materials, some more than others, and there are several available in various “neon” high visibility colors.

Depending on how cold the night arrives in the place where you live while traveling, a vest can serve as a main or complementary clothing. In hot weather, a lower protective suit will allow a jacket to be replaced with a vest. And when it’s cold, the vest can be worn over a jacket.

Like the helmet, be careful to choose a jacket that will keep you comfortable in the cooler

In the US military bases. UU. Around the world, soldiers are required to wear military spec vests

32

The motorcycle pants that you select for night driving should have the attributes that you would normally find in a pair: comfort, durability, flexibility and protection, in addition to

any special features they may have for night driving. For more visible pants, you will find fewer models available to cover your torso, since what a biker wears on the legs is not as prominent as a jacket, but there are still many options. Pants that are good for night driving come in lighter colors and will have at least retroreflective decoration, although some will have larger panels along the back and out of the legs. Since some pairs of pants are specifically designed for dark hours, simply selecting a model in a brighter color that contrasts with the motorcycle’s paint will help differentiate the biker and visibility. And, don’t forget the weather. Make sure the motorcycle pants you choose keep your lower half as happy as your upper body.

4. Reflective boots

Motorcycle boots and shoes can help alert others to your existence more than pants, at least from the side of the motorcycle. Many models are equipped with reflective and retroreflective properties and are available in bright colors or with multi-tone patterns. Footwear is an important expense, so manufacturers become more creative with their offers. Night bikers can wear that to their advantage, selecting footwear that really stands out against the darkest area around a motorcycle’s footrests.

Motorcycle gloves are manufactured in a wide range of designs, styles and colors, so finding a well-equipped pair to ride at night is not a big problem. Of course, you will want a pair that meets the usual criteria of comfort, protection and ease of use, so your options are still wide, since almost all meet that standard for most people. For the darkest hours, select a pair that incorporates features such as retro-reflective ornaments or panels and bright colors or patterns.

Your choice of footwear should be based first on what you would normally look for in this equipment, and then selected based on your visibility improvements. You will want something that fits, protects your feet and keeps you comfortable in any and all conditions, even at night.

You’ll also want to wear gloves that keep you warm as temperatures drop, so a good pair should be able to handle this transition without causing discomfort. Glove liners are also available, which can add multi-season capacities to almost all gloves, although they do nothing to be colorful.

5. Reflective gloves

6. Night glasses

The need for glasses may be excluded with a full-face motorcycle helmet, but some bikers will choose to wear a helmet that lacks a face shield or may need or want additional vision protection. 33

In the first, with an open or off-road style helmet, your options include glasses and glasses, and with the second, when added to the protection of a full face cap, the glasses are your only option, since it is Everything that will fit inside. Glasses and glasses are also widely available items that come in many forms. For night driving, the best option is a pair of transparent or amber lenses. The clearing has an obvious purpose in the sense that it will not block any incoming light, and the amber lens is designed to improve contrast and improve visibility in low light. Both types are good options to use when the sun is behind the Earth.

Clothing is not the only option available to make a biker more visible at night. A backpack, hydration pack or messenger bag can also help with this. If the package is equipped with retroreflective parts and is available in a bright color, it should be very useful for alerting other drivers behind you. Before making a purchase, in addition to the features you need for a backpack, make sure that any of these you select does not interfere with the operation of the motorcycle or cause you any discomfort.

8. Extra protection

safety. Since riding a motorcycle in the dark makes a biker more vulnerable to a vehicle with another vehicle, it is advisable to make sure it is as armored as possible. Essentially, any additional protection you select for night driving will be the same as you would choose for driving in bright sunlight: select the one that will complement the protection already present in your night driving equipment that is not restrictive and is properly qualified for your intended purpose.

9. Rain clothes

7. Reflective motorcycle / luggage backpack

The use of additional protection while driving at night is not about visibility, it is simple 34

Motorcycle riding equipment for wet weather is a smart idea for a night biker since, in some regions, the atmosphere enjoys turning the

spike when the sun disappears. Planning for this eventuality will keep your driving pleasant and provide peace of mind if the weather cannot make a decision. Rainwear is worn over your normal riding clothes, so visibility is of the utmost importance when choosing what to buy. The bright neon colors and extensive use of retroreflective materials, which will help other users see you, are common in this segment. Just keep in mind the generally accepted characteristics that a waterproof garment must have and choose an item, set or suit that makes it impossible for you not to be seen.

Final thoughts As anyone who enjoys a motorcycle knows instinctively that driving at night presents unknown dangers for those who travel only in daylight. A biker is required to be more careful. We suggest

you to avoid accidents at night decrease the customary speed, increase the distance between the different vehicles and all use reflective products to be seen from a distance. Clothing and equipment with reflective materials will be used in the dark. As they say, “the better you look, the more likely it is that others will see you. It is simple logic. Adapting the biker for this purpose is the first and the best way to do it, so look carefully at the items offered by the market and select the ones that fit your driving style, the weather you will probably face and the price you can afford . The final decision on what clothes and equipment will work for your situation ultimately depends on you. However, being seen has two players: the motorcyclist and the people with whom you share the road. Make sure you get what it takes for other people to see you and you will have a better chance of having that night

motorcycle trip perfectly organized, stimulating and safe.

Infraction: C24 Cost: 15 SMDLV ($414.057) They may wear a passenger in their vehicle, which must also wear a helmet and the reflective garment required for the driver. Drivers of these types of vehicles and their companions must wear reflective vests or identification jackets that must be visible when driving between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. the next day, and provided visibility is poor.

What was my experience on the third anniversary of the Suzuki GZ 150 club?

I think that, in order to start with my answer, it is essential for me to mention the definition of the word Experience, which is: experience, event or fact that a person lives and that contributes to configure their personality. The above takes on a transcendental importance in my story, since, for me, the celebration of this anniversary was a sum of

36

many beautiful miracle experiences, a great and magical miracle that illuminated my days and was the fulfillment of several yearnings of the soul that have always rolled down the routes of my heart, because since I can remember my heart speeds up when I hear the sound of motorcycles and even starts beating better, my eyes delight watching the

beauty of such magnificent machines and my attention is It focuses so much on them, that for a few minutes I disconnect from my reality while I enjoy seeing them. The above always happens to me every time I hear the roar of engines, I literally get excited and well, what about my GZ; I dreamed

it many years before I had it and I wanted with passion to feel it, drive it, get wet with it or enjoy the sun together, hug it at each traffic light to enjoy its pleasant and warm vibration and observe its beauty every day. Thank God, this dream is today my magical reality, every day I go out and I can not help contemplating it a little before riding it, it still seems incredible to me and I never tire of thanking God for its benefits, now added to how amazing it is to have it To her, my rude little warrior, I was fortunate to be in contact with some gezetero who told me about the club and blessed me with her information, there I learned about the third anniversary Suzuki GZ 150 and my eyes shone immediately, my heart was so revolutionized that From there my experience began, my experience of the third anniversary Suzuki GZ 150. I started to plan, run and schedule everything to be there, obstacles and difficulties went down the road, until a small traffic incident, but everything could be resolved to meet the appointment and my desires, go out to roll in a group, share with others bikers and learn from them a lot about motorcycles, about the proper functioning of the GZ and even better, many ideas of how to riddle my little warrior. All of the above in perfect time! It was a long week for me, anxiety was tingling through my body mixed with emotion and the full joy of attending even if it was a while, because for work, I would not have the joy of being in the whole event; so the thing, emotions, sensations, races to get the bike ready and be able to ride safely, until finally the day arrived !, as always happens before an important event I almost did not sleep and as long as I managed to fall asleep, just I dreamed of rolling with my rudita; The next day I woke up very early to have enough time to verify that I did not forget anything and so finally, I started and rolled! Arriving at the meeting point and seeing several GZ together excited me greatly, so much that I could not erase the smile of my face, a smile of those that reflect that your

brain is in Emoji mode with star eyes and nothing else passes by, no thoughts, no reasoning, nothing, just stars to see such a majestic scene of several GZ together , majestic, imposing, elegant and beautiful, extremely beautiful, what a presence they definitely have! And not to say when we started, it seemed like a dream, my first shot, the presence of several GZs together on the road, that was one of the experiences that most marked me, living solidarity, communication without words, brotherhood and support and concern for each other while enjoying the wind and speed, it was a very significant experience for me, too significant, and as everything significant left its mark on me, what a great success! After a few hours we arrived, just in time to celebrate another year of life of an icon of motorcycling in Colombia “El Capi had heard of him and he struck me when I saw him in a video with his ship and his presence, all the badges that I had, but it did not occur to me to be able to meet him on the anniversary, it was a surprising and beautiful event, even more, when he began the biker Certification ceremony, his words reached me deep within my being, so so, that my eye was sharp and everything, he talked about respect, brotherhood, tolerance, patience and good sense, wow! Go qualifying! This yes that anchored me to the wheels, technically defined as the quality that people who show good judgment, prudence and maturity in their actions and decisions have made me vibrate to the innermost fibers, I felt almost what I feel when my motorcycle and I become one and fly on wheels in the streets, she always sensitive and attentive to my movements, I almost feel her like my own legs because with just a twist of my hip she dances with me, from one side to the other avoiding the road and cornering obstacles leaning with me to the rhythm of music and the weather of the day; And, it feels so good to be between the ground and the sky suspended together as if we were one, seeing everything from a different angle.

Also, it happened when I heard the Eagle on the road talking about the sensibility that characterizes us gezeteros, I get to the bones and that is what I want to reflect on the routes, there are not enough words to express the great impact of his speech sense to me, and even more moved when they gave me my motorcycle certification, in fact I almost cried, my heart accelerated to 200km per hour, but I held back and enjoyed the moment as a beautiful gift from God and this wonderful brotherhood and I say brotherhood because we are joined by the same blood mixed with gasoline and transported on two wheels inside us; and I think that the passion for motorcycles and that fusion of gasoline blood that he talked about should be lived and lived well, enjoyed and reflected, but always trying to show us how bright our GZ when the sun of the day or when the light the nightlight strikes it and makes it shine even more, and this is not easy, but it is not impossible either and I think that my biggest challenge will be to aim at the pilot’s wings, the star and then the sun, but always trying to be sensible at the wheel, it costs but on it I train day after day when driving. After the ceremony, there was time to have lunch together, share, know and explore the beautiful streets of Villa de Leyva, then get ready to camp and have a delicious time listening to anecdotes and experiences of bikers with years of experience and great tour, this was another moment magical for me, I still have a lot to learn, know and experience, but a pin of joy will always be in my heart for the experience lived at the III Suzuki GZ 150 Anniversary. All of the above, for me it was a dream come true and will continue to be, I hope and aspire to share many more moments, experiences, camping, bonfires and meetings with the gezeteros and with each biker that vibrates and lives at the revolutions of his majestic machine two wheel. 37

We are divergent beings of thoughts, ideologies, creeds and tastes, but only the convergence brings us closer to the enjoyment for the passion of being pilots of the cruiser-style motorcycles that, leveraged with the technology of these times, give a unique sensation when rolling on the roads More than an outing, a gathering of

friends or family, more than carrying out the famous pot rides, the Sunday roast, the bridge exit; It is intended to describe the experience of the “III Anniversary of the Suzuki GZ 150 Club”, on the route to Villa de Leyva, a municipality considered not only as one of the most emblematic of the department of Boyacá but of the country

of the Sacred Heart. Plastered in a literary style cut with sober nuances, giving relevance beyond the taste of the machines, that by turning their mileage, regardless of the consumption of gallons of fuel; It is to express the experience of each of its members in sharing, having fun and carrying in the innate memory of the spirit, the group’s

waitress, assistants and guests, it is knowing their stories, experiences, dreams, frustrations, acts of overcoming around these engines that as some of their leaders and referents said during the anniversary event, friendship ties were generated and strengthened, where they met the ones who wear their hard “motorcycle biker” shell, but in the end more human than anyone who I know From the first day of the anniversary with the state of the adverse weather of rain and constant cold characteristic of the Sabanero climate, it was not an impediment for our travelers to meet to leave to celebrate our famous appointment, we prayed and asked the Heavenly Father to take care of us and protect those inhospitable roads in the journey and thus we start as always in a travel scheme like those of us who are the warriors of the road; the most experts are at the tip, others in the middle and others in the queue, always guarding our brotherhood. Along the way, the neighbors, walkers, spectators, they conformed by all ages, men and women pause their activities to contemplate that caravan that comes and goes from those shining steeds almost rampant that are and will be our Suzuki GZ 150 motorcycles ; some greet, others capture those memories through their mobiles, the children run to the side of the caravan; At that moment those cinematic scenes are remembered when the armies arrive in their respective cities flying banners and emblems of joy to see the squads, now in our time we are the cruiser-style motorcyclists that characterize

our steeds. We arrived at our destination Villa de Leyva and we stayed in a hotel on the outskirts of the town, a site that I could associate with an Alcazar that so many times mentioned the famous character Alfonso Quijano, most of our warriors of the brotherhood tend our stores campaigning around the Alcazar, when the night arrives, that instinct of jubilation for music and drink wakes up, going through different musical styles, without missing food and drink, between dance, stories and the revelry was spending the night Highlighted the laughter declining the cold of the night and the fatigue of the day, some of the warriors woke up telling stories, experiences and experiences of life. The laughter of some who kept rolling in their imaginary steeds covered in their dreams continued, loud snoring for the awake that felt a coordination of resonates between the installed tents.

the warriors of the road that have traveled many kilometers next to their Suzuki GZ 150 motorcycles, it is the moment of recognition for several of our warriors as they have said when they were recognized for experience, talent and motor spirit, this activity took place in a common space of the hotel where I had the opportunity to be in an imagined rocking armchair of a common hall of the Alcazar, also had a view Amazing landscape of the Villa de Leyva. In the afternoon, due to world issues, several of the brotherhood had to return to our destinations and as a group we were compact, solid until we reached our destinations, on the other hand, most of the warriors were still in the lodge performing just the motorcycles , sharing sites of interest and at night in the heat of the embers shared experiences with “El Capi” to be that ideal biker for the roads of our tricolor country.

On the second day for most of the brotherhood looking for our first food of the day some left for the village in their steeds, others and in my case we started walking to the same place without the motorcycles but as always carrying that collective spirit of walking in packs . We arrived at our destination, we had breakfast in a good place and at good prices, we returned to our hotel where we were waiting for the companions of “Colombia Moto Club” biker association headed by Captain Alonso Gil, wise road warrior both in the country and In the international arena, “El Capi” with his entourage and the leaders of the brotherhood, organized a ceremony to recognize

On the third day the brotherhood starts from the Alcazar, the hotel that welcomed us so much and we were satisfied with it, to give my best thanks to Villa de Leyva; charming place with excellent weather, colonial landscapes and cultural and religious setting, sites to discover that were fulfilled on the third day, and a good trip back from the warriors of the Suzuki GZ 150 club; to thank our leaders for organizing this activity, the “Colombia Moto Club” delegation at the head of the “Capi” for participating in this anniversary, my teammates for sharing all their life experiences through the motorcycles, thanks to the attendees and guests for complementing this biker cause. 39

The motorcycles: A threat to your ears

We know that motorcycles bring us many health benefits, but there are also threats that we have to take into account... such as noise. But for every problem, there is a solution. 40

Think of your ears the next time you go for a motorcycle ride. The noise of the motor and the wind can be compared with the noise of a rock concert or that of an electric saw, and the helmet does not offer any protection for your ears.

Motorcycles are a threat to your ears The bikes are very good, but they are not made for delicate ears. A group of scientists from the University of Florida accelerated the engines of 33 different motorcycles and recorded noise levels. Almost half of them produced noises greater than 100 dB. “Almost all the motorcycles tested reached a level of action noise, which in a work environment would require the use of hearing protectors,” says Joy Colle, an audiologist and researcher.

The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, OSHA, warns that exposure to noise levels of 100 dB is safe for only 15 minutes.

Wind noise Wind noise is another potential threat to bikers’ ears. An hour at a highway speed without ear protectors can cause permanent hearing loss. An OSHA study showed that riding a motorcycle at 60 kilometers per hour with an open helmet and without hearing protectors produces an ambient noise level of 75 to 90 dB, which would be equivalent to using a leaf blower or a lawnmower. At 100 kilometers per hour, the sound level ranges from 103 dB to 116 dB. At these highway speed levels without hearing protectors, driving should be limited to less than 15 minutes. The helmet protects you against shocks and even accidents but does not completely isolate you from outside noise. Several studies indicate that the maximum noise reduction of wearing a helmet ranges between 3 and 5 dB. An economical set of earplugs reduces exposure to noise by 35 dB, allowing you to drive your motorcycle throughout the day without damaging your hearing.

Traveling through North Avenity (Tunja - Paipa) I found a place that caught my attention by name. Tin Marin This place has well-defined environments such as the bar area, the food and atmosphere area and the children’s area. I decided to try its cuisine and I have to say that I was surprised. The attention was excellent and the dishes were very well prepared and presented. Its very fresh and well combined ingredients make a tremendous celebration on the palate.

42

That said, in the next 8 months, they went to work in a renovated Tin Marin. They worked hard and were able to reopen the place on December 24, 2017. As in the previous version, they took great care in the details of the place, its decoration, its stage to spend a pleasant night or for events and, of course, in its menu. Thanks to this effort and a name that was growing, Tin Marín was born again from the ashes and rescuing his position as a reference in the Tunjano restaurants.

I decided to investigate a little more and I met the manager Natalia. He told me that Tin Marín was inaugurated in May 2016. Thanks to the effort for details, it was soon a success for all those who passed through the area and for the inhabitants of Tunja.

You definitely have to admire the unwavering will of the Boyacenses and, above all, the Vargas - Tolosa family (Don Augusto Vargas, Consuelo Vargas, Ricardo Vargas and Natalia Tolosa Vargas, the manager of the establishment).

His biggest problem was that on the morning of February 20, 2017, a fire caused all the effort to fall apart, which fortunately caused no casualties. Their owners did not give up, they knew they were doing things well and decided to start over.

In short, it is an ideal place to stop to rest on the road and have a drink; ideal for eating and resting in the rounds or, definitely, as a meeting point for large rounds of the clubs, since it has a parking lot in front and in the back of the establishment.

The Name Tin MarĂn came out of a brainstorm that we made the partners... And we liked it !!! Natalia Toloso Vargas Tin MarĂn Manager

Bogotá - Tunja - Sáchica - Tenjo - Bogotá For many, traveling is a matter of tourism, visiting friends or family, getting out of monotony, recreation... For me, there is no reason why I have to. On this occasion there was no reason. I was just bored and decided to go out in search of an adventure... an advantage of being a Biker. Freedom is simply a choice. Rolling is part of my freedom, no plans, no direction, no schedule... just do it. That is when I am surprised to find myself and discover more what the different routes of Colombia offer us. Villages, cafes, food... people. 44

On this occasion I found a restaurant that is reborn from among the ashes, a town proud of its cyclist, the almojábanas de Arcabuco, the onion capital of Colombia (Sáchica), the picturesque decoration of Ráquira, It has been a pretty interesting trip. We are really privileged. We can travel whenever we want and how we want. We will always enjoy travel, because we know that the important thing is not to arrive, it is the journey. During this journey aimlessly, without destiny... I have met many people in the villages that I

visited and some motorcyclists who met with problems to help them. To be free, you don’t need planning, you don’t need the clock, you don’t need a phone, you don’t need a heading or a route. To be free you only need one thing, the thirst for adventure. This together with your motorcycle, you will reach luares that you would never have thought of arriving. Live to ride, ride free.

Tourism Luis Gonzalo Andrade Natural History Museum (Tunja): It was born as a didactic collection to support the teaching of zoology in the year 1961, with the passage of time in the collection the number of copies collected in different regions of the country increases; which led its founder Professor Luis Gonzalo Andrade Trujillo to create the museum. Gondava the Great Dinosaur Park (Sรกchica): The Great Valley of Dinosaurs, called GONDAVA, takes us through the evolution at that time and to that land so fascinating to us. That was the world, a world of giants full of life and strength. Yes, they were majestic. And we are very fortunate to have the possibility of experiencing a different life, a strange era, a world of great beings, of beings that evolved; We can learn from the past for now, go forward and take giant steps.

Eureka coffee (Tenjo): There is nothing like taking a break in the heat of a good coffee. In this place you will find a very wide menu to eat and drink something. It offers an excellent menu such as beef tenderloin or hamburgers, even delicious desserts such as red fruit cake or apple and cinnamon roses. A recommendation for the step is the combination of a Capuccino with the homemade Apple Strudel.

In 1967, Burt Munro is a kind of popular hero in his hometown of Invercargill, New Zealand, known for his friendly carefree personality, for having the fastest motorcycle in New Zealand and Australia, and for appearing in Popular Mechanics magazine. However, that recognition is contrasted by his exasperated neighbors next door, some of whom are fed up with their non-neighborhood habits; how to speed up your motorcycle early in the morning, pee in your lemon tree and not cut your grass. Burt, however, has a long time dream; to travel to the United States and test the capabilities of your motorcycle on the Bonneville Speedway. Burt can finally save enough to travel on a cargo ship to Los Angeles, but when he arrives, he experiences bureaucracy, skepticism and the indifference of people from big cities. It is its

blunt but sociable nature that overcomes every obstacle. The motel employee, a transgender woman named Tina, who assists him at the customs office and helps him buy a car is won. The car dealer allows Burt to use his workshop and scrap yard to build a trailer, and later offers him a job after Burt refines a series of cars in the lot. Burt declines the offer, however, and shortly thereafter begins his long trip to Utah. Along the way, Burt meets numerous helpful people, including the road police, a Native American who helps him when his trailer fails, a woman named Ada who allows him to repair his trailer and briefly becomes his lover, and a pilot of the Air Force that is in Exit of the military service in Vietnam.

He finally arrives at the Bonneville salt flats, only to be blocked by race officials for not registering his motorcycle for the competition in advance, and not having the mandatory safety equipment. However, in a show of sportsmanship, several competitors and fans of the Bonneville series intervene in his name, and eventually he is allowed to make a timed race. Despite several problems, he succeeds in his search and sets a new ground speed record in the eighth mile of his career; when it reaches 201,851 mph (324,847 km / h). In the end, his leg is burned by the escape, and then he falls with the motorcycle and the skates to stop, but a hero can return home in New Zealand. This movie is based on real facts.
