GOAL PHILOSOPHY

Encourage Mountain development in a sustainable way, which means... to continue to live the mountain in an innovaive way and no negative impacts on the environment, landscape and nature.

Insert the project in global vision. Integrate local participation. Human-nature interaction. Local development. Social and technical innovation.

PROGRAM

CFF BUILDINGS MULTI FUNCTIONAL SPACE Cultural & human Cff Museum // library // associative offices // artist exhibition // event place// Economical Market place for local producers// supermarket// local craftwork and commercial display// restaurant // New CFF building: keep and perform hydroelectric system. Ecological // cff offices // heating system connected to electric transformers //local transportation. Electric Wasteland Park: Leisure and connection to other villages. Close to main cff building: Improve connection between train station and funicular station // offer easier access from funicular station to the lake. Around the artificial lake: Create a walk path around the lake, secure the lake border ( fence, light, integrate leisures, place to sit, eat, event space, new seasonal activity). Around the cff living buildings: Community garden, vegetables garden, terrasses. Connection with the rest of the valley: Emphasize electric infrastructure in the landscape. Enhance and emphasize point of view from Ch창telard (Finhaut/ Aiguille Rouge mountain/Le Gietroz) connect to trail network.

Transport: Improve train mobility from Chamonix and Martigny, and transportation to Gietroz and Emosson lake ( infrastructure, fare). No road / no cars. Entrances / Stations: Improve entrances in order for the inhabitants to welcome others and create more interaction between them. Village first impression - Direct interaction with village.

DEVELOPEMENT OF FOOD-CONCEPT

The idea is to use the food-productional base of the region and to connect food production with energy, infrastructure, environment, society – NEEDS. From the vision: To have a selfsuficient food production system with healthy and sustainable produced food which allows an autonomous/sustainable village. 1. Take the food now produced (fish, vegetables, meat, cheese…etc.) and sell/share in the market for locals and tourists. 2. Analyze the production potential and develop an environmental plan to optimize food production and environmental services such as biodiversity, avalanche protection, wood production… 3. Analyze production potential for new products. 4. Encourage people (inhabitants and people from outside) to use their potential, create new food with local resources according to the development plan. 5. Find new ways for food production (for example, the greenhouses) to get closer to the autonomous system.

TRANSPORTATION / MOBILITY

The idea comes to solve the transportation problems inside the Mont Blanc Region. This new train consists of a high-speed train that cans transform itself into a funicular and reach high points by traveling small distances in a short period of time. The train is levitating on a magnetic field that reduces friction and increases the train efficiency; actual tracks can be used with some modifications. On the other hand, when the funicular which is the same train, starts traveling vertically, it gets into a panoramic tunnel that avoids the wind and reduces the risk of excessive movement. This new, innovative way of transportation is a key point for the development in this area, because of the actual lack of transportation accessibility. This train will reduce travel times and it will not be harmful to the environment. It will be very useful in this mountainous region in the way that one can travel a very long distance (or from one village to another )to get to a certain point, without any problem. Now talking of transportation inside the villages, our proposal is to implement a new concept of transportation in which the inhabitants won’t have the necessity to have a car. This idea consists in a small cart for 4-6 passengers that will be autonomous and intelligent, and it will take people to their destination following a predetermined path or route. This small cart will be moved by an electric engine powered by a special energy line.

CURRENT STATUS HYDROPOWER Almost completely exploited. Current power production. 500GWh per year. Energyfor the European market, inhabitants do not have access. WIND POWER High potential Currently, there are no existing power plants in the area. SOLAR ENERGY Unused potential of photovoltaic energy production of approximately 2.837 MWh per year. BIOGAS PLANT Currently, not existing.

ENERKITE

Possible locations for ENERKITE power stations The goal is to gain local electricity with the use of other processes. MBS - Region self sufficient. Energy production from the dam is used for regulation of european market. It is important to have a good mixture of renewable energy and do not depend on one resource. As the glaciers of this region are melting and water might become a limited resource in the future. High peaks and over production of electricity from wind power stations can be saved with the use of the existing pumped hydroelectric plant.
