Rio Hondo College’s Forensics Speech and Debate Team Rise Up to 10th in the Nation

The Rio Hondo College Forensics Speech and Debate ranked 10th in the nation during the National Parliamentary Debate Association Championship that took place, March 25 through the 27.

The Forensics Speech and Debate team has been climbing the ladder of success over the past few years. In 2020, the team took 27th place, then in the following year they ranked 21st. By 2022, the team then took a leap into 17th place, but during a competition at Point Loma Nazarene University, the Debate team won first place in October of that same year.

Speech and Debate team ranked sixth in the California Community College State Championships. Earlier this year,the Debate team placed second during the Community College Division at the Gaske Championship. Since their accomplishments at the National Parliamentary Debate Association Championship, the Forensics Speech and Debate team have competed at the Phi Rho Pi National Championship in Bethesda, Maryland, and will compete at the Pacific Southwest Collegiate Association on April 29th through the 30th.
