Post Childbirth: Things to Avoid After Giving ChildBirth

After giving birth to a child a woman enters an essential phase where she is thrilled but exhausted at the same time. The feeling of being uncomfortable and exhausted keeps a woman on a roller coaster ride where she notices the change but just can’t do anything as she isn’t prepared for all of this. Post the delivery a woman’s body goes through a lot of changes physically and emotionally. Physically women experience sore breasts, constipation, hot and cold flashes, vaginal discharge, and others. Healing Process Same as your body is taking months to give birth, it also takes time to recover. In general, it takes around 6 weeks to recover or even more. There are several things that you can look for after giving birth like sleeping on your stomach, consuming alcohol, eating meat, etc. As per the reports suggested by Dr. Elsa, the best obstetrician in Dubai, a woman should take more precautions and avoid doing things that are dangerous for her health. Below mentioned is a curated list that a woman is advised to follow in her postpartum care.

1. Do not put anything into the vagina: Different birth experiences relate to different changes in the vagina. Post the delivery vagina sheds the uterine lining which leads to bleeding for approx 4 to 6 weeks in this process it is advised to use sanitary napkins and not tampons as it can lead to infection and other vaginal problems. The reason why you are advised to do this is related to the physical

recovery from birth. 2. Don’t neglect your nutrition: After the delivery, it is common for the mothers to skip the meals or not eat healthily. For a breastfeeding mother, it is important to eat nutritive food and ensure that they eat food whenever they are hungry. Eat nutritive foods and supplement your diet with grains, vegetables, dairy products, fruits, cereals, etc. Consume food that is rich in fibre and balance it by drinking lots of water and staying hydrated. Drinking more and more water helps avoid constipation and keeps you healthy. 3. Don’t smoke: If you or your partner smokes it is advised to visit the doctor or just leave smoking and drinking on your own. Smoking and drinking puts your health at risk as well as keep your baby at risk of developing sudden infant death syndrome. Smoking and drinking also trigger the risks of early death. 4. Take rest: Ample amount of rest and good sleep is the success story for a new mother but the newborn won’t let you get good sleep as it requires to be fed every three hours, cleaned and comforted, etc. The thumb rule to manage your sleep and take rest is to sleep whenever the baby is asleep. 5. Don’t ignore the pain: After delivery, every woman feels some type of pain. The only difference that matters is the duration and its severity. The most common types of pain that a woman goes through are cramps, pain in the vagina area, pain around the stitches, discomfort in the back, neck, and swelling of the breasts, etc. If you feel discomfort or other symptoms of fever with pain and headache try consulting a doctor. People residing in the Dubai area can take postpartum care at the hospital in Dubai.
